I dislike the current picture, I'd rather have no image than an image of a game box. Especially since the Demonic Spider in the image is very small because the Centipede and the boy are the focus of the game.

I still vote for a Redead.

What does a Redead look like?

Hey, I added the Fire Emblem picture, and that was an example of a Demonic Spider.

It killed the people you were charged to protect very quickly and was very hard for any of your units to kill outside of one. Not one type, one individual, in a strategy game based around moving small armies. That said, I'm in total defense of Centipede. Its the UR example, its a literal example and the picture fits the trope description perfectly.

Demonic Spiders are supposed to be random enemies, so the fact that the boy and the centipede are the focus but the captions tells you to look to the little spider out of focus sums up what this trope really is. Random, seemingly minor enemies that are extremely dangerous.

[up][up][up] When I made the thread, the picture was of an extremely nonthreatening-looking demon thing from some platformer

And a still picture of a spider (I think that was it?) does nothing to tell us what you just said, anyway.

I have a message from another time...

This still needs to be addressed, as the current pic is JASAAC.

Something that just came to mind that could work is a takeoff on the pic that's on Goddamned Bats, with an extra panel at the end showing a pile of bones.

A classic option is the ever popular Castlevania Bird. Show Simon climbing a staircase. Show a bird in the first image. On the second, have the bird swoop down and knock Simon off the staircase. Caption: "Expect this to happen about another 20 times before you get past this point. Did we mention you only have three lives?"
