Today I was a Scout suffering from lag who got ubered by a Medic. I somehow in my low framerate blind aiming madness managed to kill a guy with a God-like killstreak. I have no idea how that happened.
Later I targeted an oblivious sniper, and another one with magnetic-head-aim started targeting me. Just as I got in his line of sight... he got autobalanced. Finally, autobalance has repaid for all the times it's abused me.

So a report is in that Valve is at work at adding matchmaking into TF2. "After nine more years..."
Jerma's thoughts on it:
What I fear is that a badly implemented matchmaking system might make pubstomping worse. All a guy who wants to slaughter noobs has to do is find a low tier server and free farming for him. Not to mention bots, strange farming, and stat resets make real stats hard to tell from fake stats. A system based on stats is easily to exploit, so I hope it seeks out something based on average instead, perhaps.

As long as there's an option to disable matchmaking (i.e. jump into a game with better or worse players at will) I certainly don't mind them adding it. I wouldn't want to be locked into playing stronger foes just because I got a lucky streak, or dumped with bad players just because I had an off day, though.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Well, Valve said that they're going to be taking cues from the current competitive TF2 leagues, so we'll see how that works out. But yeah, so long as people sill have the option of non-competitive, I don't think
I get the feeling that the hardest part will be balancing class ratios as in 4v4 and 6v6 and Highlander, the class raitos are all but set in stone as the teams quickly become horribly unbalanced otherwise. The same thing goes with loadouts. There's some weapons that do great in non-competitive, but are horribly unbalanced in comp. Figuring out how to keep teams balanced is going to be a very fine line to walk. And you can bet that nobody's going to be happy with how they do it.
We learn the truth.
24/7 Friendly Heavy matchmaking servers are going to be bizarre.

Are we talking about competitive? Because I like watching highlander best.
It means there's going to be a pyro no matter what.
Time for more animu :U
Incredible.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Why was Heavy an Ork?
I think I enjoy reading the comments complaining about faux-Adaptation Decay almost as much as the video.
Comments that are in on the joke are the best kinds of comments.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? This is why I hate the dub of BNHPS, they tried to make it 4kids but it sounds stupid. In the original japanese it is called the "Hell Holocaust KKK skeleton ass fuck"
No kidding. Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.
This is... really, really incredible.
Oh man, that is so cool.
This is why I love this game...
And Winglet did another Meet the Weapons video!
Glorious.
The server-wide panic upon the placing of one mini-sentry is very accurate.
Didn't include the massive amount of ensuing bitching about it in chat, apparently.
"Who's the dick putting down mini-sentries?" was actually a keybind of mine before they were all wiped out in one of the updates after EOTL.

Saw that. That guy is really good at this.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.I never understood why everyone hates mini sentries. Whenever I try to use one, it rarely lasts longer than half a minute, and even more rarely gets more than one or two kills.
They can get pretty devastating if you have a keybind that lets you destroy and place a mini-sentry with one button. That way you don't have to spend any time going though the different PDA menus. All you need at that point is a good supply of metal... Offensive payload is crazy...
TBH, the entire point of a mini-sentry is not longevity. That's what a Lvl. 2-3 sentry is for. I tend to use mini-sentries when building and maintaining my other buildings is more important then long-term area-denial.
One time during Mountain Lab, I built a well hidden teleporter and went to harass any RED team that tried to attack near spawn with a mini-sentry. Near the end of the round I had obtained 79 teleports, and my teleporter was protected by 3 guys who built a huge sentry nest.
(Team) Other Guy: THE TELEPORTER IS A GOD.
I find them pretty damn useful. The thing is, they're small and inconspicuous, very quickly deployed, and cheap. You aren't supposed to be leading the charge, but if there's a few people fighting already, putting a mini in range (and it's a very large range) means you're very likely to get a few kills and assists. If it gets destroyed after a kill or two, well, you can plop down another one in a second, and if you're using the Frontier Justice, you just got guaranteed crits. They are great for area denial because they turn on a dime and never miss, so if a Scout or Pyro tries approaching, you'll hear them coming and even if they survive long enough to kill the mini, they'll be weakened and easy to pick off with your shotgun or melee. They won't do much against Soldiers and Demos and Heavies, but they practically hard counter non-Pistol Scouts and can easily kill weakened classes before you even know they're there.
tl;dr they aren't some battle-clearing menace, but their benefit/cost ratio is absurdly high and they are very hard to play around if you don't have specific equipment.
I have acquired a Strange Ghostly Gibus. My TF 2 item journey is nearing its end.
