I just found out that there's a Babymetal cover of Tamashii no Rufuran.
Say what you will about Babymetal and whether it's "real metal" or not, but it's a pretty rad cover. The video I found is an AMV, I just put it on while playing Pokemon so I didn't really watch it. I was looking for the smooth jazz 10 Years version.
Found the 10th Anniversary version.

They're reading too much into that picture. If he would be making a deliberate effort to cover Rei, I'd agree - but he just happens to be standing there. Considering the positioning of the anniversary text relative to the characters, him standing on the opposite side and keeping a close enough distance to fit the text into the frame would mean him covering Mari instead.

Hey guys! I could use some assistance. As some of you might know, there used to be a popular fan theory that the Eva Units were each based on a "Baron of Hell." This has been thoroughly debunked now, but a few years ago I started this project that used said theory as a starting point and now I can't find the information I had. From what notes I did take, I know Unit-00 was said to be based off of Enki or "Ki." This likely means that each "Baron" was based upon a Mesopotamian God, like Anu or Elial, but I don't recall which one was which. Enki had one eye, another had one horn, another was red with eight eyes, and the last had long arms. Would anyone please help me recover this information? Thank you!

Are the "Barons of Hell" from Go Nagai's Devilman? I know Anno acknowledged taking inspiration from it, both for visual and atmosphere in some fights. But it would be odd to be that direct, considering how much else went into the Evas.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.

I've read Devilman, but what the theory I speak referenced wasn't that. Far as I can tell the Barons of Hell concept was a total misconception derived from Mesopotamiam mythology. Perhaps it was more obscure than I thought?

Pretty much a symptom of the fact that Gainax is basically a dry husk at this point. Trigger and Khara are where all their old talent worth a damn is at now.

I don't know how Gainax will solve this, but I could see the company going bankrupt and its properties sold off. As I said, it really doesn't have anything going for it anymore.
So wait, last time I was paying attention to Eva, I could have sworn I heard we were finally getting re-releases of Eva here in the West.
Checking Amazon, did that not happen?
I guess I'll just have to re-read the manga. No skin off my back, I already own it and I think it was better than the anime in quite a few ways.
