So you didn't like End, I take it?
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.Yeah, everybody says that when they watch the end of the series.
SHIKI is dead. No, actually, I thought the end of End was very fitting. It's the end I was expecting Neon Genesis to have. It's just confusing and creepy as all hell, is all.

TV Ending > Movie ending
Any particular reasoning there?
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.Congratulations!
In other news, I have nothing substantial to say. Just a reference.
the dice are loaded, the deck is stacked, the game itself will hold you backPlus, Eo E is kinda the easy way out. It's Anno's bashing you over the head with the literal ending, which if you were paying attention in the TV version you can pretty much figure out anyways.
Edit: I'm not saying the movie ending is bad. Indeed, I quite enjoy it for it's visceral nature and ability to evoke strong emotions. I just have found I prefer the TV ending. I used to think the other way around until I had rewatched the TV series 5 or so times and some additional viewings of the movie.

I'd disagree. Aside from having visuals that weren't "Embrace the mindscrew. Gainax is running out of money. Embrace the mindscrew. Gainax is running out of money." End is almost as incomprehensible as the original ending.
Personally, looking back on it, I think I prefer the TV ending because after all the shit that was piled on Shinji through that series he didn't deserve what happened in End, having to spend the rest of his life with just Asuka.
SHIKI is dead. That you'll have to explain.

Ah, yeah, that's true. But there's certainly going to be a lot of alone time, and probably it will be progressively less-fucked-up types un-instrumentaling. Neologisms ROCK. Yeah verbing.

I beg to differ. It may not be canon, but it damn well ought to be.
@ xexyzl: How do we know the passage of time in that point in the movie? Guesswork? The universe bible? Fanon?
I enjoyed the TV ending more, once I figured out what had happened. Mainly because End made me feel sick.
That final scene was a kicker. I an understand attacking the illusion, but why choke the real version of the girl you love? I know it was a weird relationship, but still... Shinji is more pathetic than anything.

an heroic gesture would do the world goodSo why did Shinji strangle Asuka? And what did we know about Third Impact by the TV ending?
What's the frequency Kenneth?|In case of war. Now, what do we know about 3rd Impact from JUST the TV ending? Well first off, why do we care? People who wanted to know what 3rd Impact actually looked like ended up with the movie. Knowing how it happens isn't nearly as important as why it happens. We know the why: trying to fill the emptiness in human souls by removing individuality. How it happens isn't really as important. So Lillith goes and sticks Unit 01 in her headvagina and sucks people's souls into the black moon, so what? Do you really need to know that in the TV ending? The point of not showing everything visually is to force the viewer to think only about characters and the theme of the show. This is why some people believe Anno didn't run out of money, that he intentionally did this ending, because he's done it before. Remember Gunbuster episode 6? They didn't even animate the final battle for you, you just got black and white stills. Why? Because the battle just isn't very important. It forces the viewer's attention elsewhere.
Bleh, I'm rambling. Really the best thing I can recommend to those confused about Eva is to rewatch it. If you need help, you can always check Wikipedia. :D
I M NOT REWATCHING THAT. Not unless you can make me unsee episode 22. I know the series is an Earn Your Happy Ending if interpreted like I do... but holy shit was that terrifying.
For the record, I enjoyed the original TV ending and am not going to watch Eo E any time soon.

ERROR: Signature not loadedFor those of us who don't remember episode numbers, 22 is HALLELUJAH!
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.All I have to say about Evangelion is that I fell asleep during the last two episodes.
That is all.
I must be the only one who wasn't emotionally moved by End of Evangelion in any way. Hmm..
Really? What was your reaction?
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.Not really all that different from the TV anime.
Okay, I admit I pretty much had most stuff spoilered already (Asuka dies, everyone get's turned into orange juice, Shinji and Asuka are the new Adam and Eve etc.)
I found it interesting to watch, but I pretty much had no reaction to it.
I don't mind the characters but some of the merchandise makes baby Jesus cry.
By popular demand. And because seriously, what the FUCK.
