I don't think that's correct as greninja wasn't a surefire hit till after smash 4 then after that TPC was all in.

I wasn't being serious, as least as far how intentional Game Freak was in it. Though intentional or not, Greninja did get pretty much everything handed to it to dominate in both popularity and gameplay, and then some once it was confirmed to be popular, while Delphox got very little and Chesnaught got next to nothing.

Is Mirror Move gone?

It’s one of the moves that no Pokémon has been able to learn in any game since Sword and Shield, so I think so. Did they just think it was redundant with Mimic or something?

I've said it before, but I'd like a Bug/Normal tardigrade Pokemon that leans into its association with bears by giving it mammalian traits too. A tardigrade/bear hybrid.

Unlike dragonflies, it's an association that actually works in Japanese, too.

They could be, but it's a unique opportunity for a very obtuse type combination, and Water/Bug would squander it somewhat.

It would be like if they made a set of stone runes possessed by a ghost, and made it yet another Ghost/Ground instead of Ghost/Rock. That would be a real waste.

Imagine if they made a Pokemon that was gravestone themed and they just made it pure Ghost. That would be silly.

and imagine if it had Basculegions's Signature move. That would never happen in a million years.

Speaking of hypothetical new Pokemon, I wonder how long it'll take before we get a Pokemon that resembles a conventional kangaroo.

make it a jumpscare kangaroo and it can be ghost/normal too ha ha

If there's a conventional kangaroo Pokémon, some will probably call it Jack.

Would Fighting-type be a good type for it?

In Runerigus' defense it was meant to have clay tablets, not stone. Houndstone is a bit less excusable, given its name and appearance that kind of evokes Rock (though at the very least we don't have to worry about Sand Rush Last Respects Houndstone with boosted Special Defense).

Count me in as someone who wants to see an Ice/Poison Pokemon, just to see what sort of idea they come up with.

A Scorpion made of Ice would be cool.

I had a couple concepts for an Ice/Poison. One is a wooly rhino that's meant to embody the common cold, aka the rhinovirus. The other is a good counterpart of the Inkay line, a Creepy Good vampire squid because they feed off marine snow (aka dead fish matter/detritus)

How about a regional variant Cubchoo/Beartic whose nose dribbles are infectious?

Is it normal for me to think that direct sequels to Pokémon X and Y, AKA Pokemon X2 and Y2, would have been a better way to revisit the Kalos region than Pokemon Legends Z-A? I mean, I still feel like the conclusion to the story in Pokémon X and Y was kind of unsatisfying, and there was expectations of a sequel before Pokémon Sun and Moon ended up being announced to coincide with an anniversary of the franchise. It would have made sense to follow in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2's footsteps with a continuation of the story that was established in X and Y.

I feel like we should know when the story of Z-A takes place before we come to those conclusions.

We already have X2Y2. It's called Pokémon Masters EX :^).

But for real, while there are definitely some missing pieces to the Kalos cast (AZ, like over half of Team Flare), Masters does seem to try to do with XY cast the best it can.

One idea I had for Ice/Poison is a Hisuian Weavile or a Johtonian Sneasler.

I just defeated Lord Kleavor in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
