You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! So, have you ever looked at an evolutionary line and one of the members look like the odd one out?
Wake me up at your own risk. For me, it would be Quiladdin.
I recall some people saying Dragonite doesnt' really fit with Dratini and Dragonair.
One Strip! One Strip!Dragonite is significantly different from Dratini and Dragonair. It was made by a different artist from those two, and at a different time judging by their internal index numbers.
...There's people that don't think that?
Well duh. You could have a Bag of Dragonite as far back as 1994. Dratini et al didn't premier until 1996.

Mega Man fanatic extraordinaire@heatedge: now that's a mature way of handling it. Sorry if I came off as harsh before, but I'm glad you apologized. They probably appreciated it because it's rare people actually do that especially these days.
There were people in this very thread multiple times who have sworn up and down Dragonite is just as serpentine as his prevos.
I think it's BS and the pokedex body classifications only furthers cement how different Dragonite is.
I wouldn't say Dragonite is just as serpentine, but it does look like a natural, albeit drastic, evolution. All three have the same rounded aesthetic and snout, and they also share the same underside coloring and single horn. The upper body spinal posture between Dragonair and Dragonite is also exactly the same. I wouldn't say it's any more drastic than any of the cocoon bug evolutions, and I've always headcanonned that the same kind of metamorphosis is involved.
Dragonite's underside coloring is completely different dude.
I remember on the playground this kid telling us Dragonair evolved into Dragonite and everybody thinking he was full of crap because Dragonite looked nothing like it and freakin stupid compared to the majestic Dragonair(this was earlier on back when it was only 150 and Mew wasn't even wide known out here). I originally thought Lapras was its evo lol.

You misunderstand. While the texture and color are different, I was referring to the pattern. Starts at the chin and travels down the body all the way to the end of the tail. Also, it gets thicker in the middle and almost but not quite bisects the body in half.
Oh I see what you mean now.
Dragonite losing the whole "pearls control the weather" thing is really lame too and only hammers in just how tacked on it really is.
Like as its own design Dragonite is alright, pretty doofy but the juxtaposition between its dopey appearance and power is neat, plus it's fun to use but as the conclusion to dratini's line it's awful. They need to try again. Megadragonite or something.
I'd be down for a Mega Dragonite that brings back the weather-controlling pearls. How about this:
Type: Dragon/Flying
Ability: Weather Master (all weather activated lasts for 10 turns, also it doesn't take damage from Hail or Sandstorm)
Stats: 91/144/115/130/120/100 total: 700
Notable new move(s): Solar Beam (since it actually already learns Hail, Sunny Day, Rain Dance, Sandstorm, Thunder, Blizzard, Fire Blast, and Hurricane)

Dragonite's sudden change reminds me of Goodra's too.
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.Gen I had a couple evos that always seemed mismatched. Like how Venonat looks more like Butterfree than Venomoth. Or how Kangaskhan makes way too much sense as a final evolution for Cubone.

Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireI don't think Dragonite is serpentine because, well, it has limbs.
It's been 3000 years…And got chubby. Also, do more people feel like Wartortle doesn't really fit with Squirtle and Blastoise? Must be the ears and tail.
Wake me up at your own risk. That's another case of different artists making different parts of the line. Sugimori designed Blastoise early in RG's development, and Nishida designed Squirtle and Wartortle late in development.

It's kind of funny that Sugimori's often seen as the man behind Pokemon's visual style when Nishida designed nearly every iconic Gen 1 Pokemon besides Charizard and Mewtwo.
Edit: Scratch that. According to this she designed Charizard, too.

To be fair, Sugimori is behind a lot of the design traits associated with Gen I, like the angry triangle eyes and kaiju-ish Pokemon. But, yeah.
There's a correction that Bulbapedia page needs to make though. Nishida actually didn't design Eevee, Jolteon, and Flareon. She designed Vaporeon and all the later evolution, but those three were designed by Motofumi Fujiwara. Which is interesting since we otherwise know nothing about Fujiwara.
Does MewTwo count? When you boil it down, it's just a send-up to Gigyas.
Who's credited for the art design for Giegue?
edited 22nd Jun '18 10:05:19 AM by Zeromaeus
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireThere's two guys credited as the character designers for the first Mother game, Shinbou Minami and Tatsuya Ishii. Presumably one of them designed Giegue. Wikipedia says Minami designed the Starman, Pixiv says the enemy sprites in Mother 1 were all based on Minami's illustrations, and Niconico and an old Famitsu interview treat him like he was the principle character designer, so it was likely Minami.
Dratini is a dragon tadpole. That's why it changes upon fully evolving.
THAT'S what I was trying to think of as a comparison earlier.
...Alright, I'm really sorry about my hostile behavior over getting an unsatisfied battle. I have no idea why I did that when it's obviously not going to improve anything. But honestly, we should move on before the topic gets dangerous.
The only thing I could do now is trying to apologize to my opponent...
EDIT: I apologized.
