The way I figure it, Pyroar is part normal because it's the closest thing we have to a sound type. This way it gets STAB on Hyper Voice and such.
Heliolisk might be normal because it needs an outside energy source to produce electricity, making it somewhere between electric types that can do this naturally and normal types that can learn electric moves by TM.
That's kind of what I figured for those two being Normal.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseWhy didn't their Scizor use Bullet Punch on your Venusaur?
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseYour Undertale team is pretty cool.
"Strategy? Spacing? I just keep punching until I hit something." - Sol BadguyHow about Diggersby. What explains the tacked-on normal type?
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!Evolves from a normal type? Like Bibarel, though I feel like in that case the overwhelming derp explains it somehow.
A lot of times, a Pokemon's type makes very little sense other than their coloration and the moves they learn.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseI feel like you could explain it as something like, most Ground-types live in areas like deserts, in mud, or underground. Diggersby is good at digging, but it's otherwise just a rodent that live in fields and forests like the other rodents.
Bibarel is part Normal because it's basically a land mammal that's good at swimming, when most Water-types are either fully aquatic fish and the like or animals that could be on land but are in the water most of the time.
Well I guess that explains Azurill too.
It wasn't gray though. But I guess not all Pokemon are subject to being color coded for convenience.

My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes! But that doesn't explain why Marill and Azumarill are Water types, though (other than being blue and learning water moves), because they really don't look aquatic or even semi-aquatic at all.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseIsn't Azuril normal because its stats were copy-pasted from Cleffa's or something? The gender ratio is wrong, too. Remember that old thing?
Unlike Chuggaaconroy, I explain the gender thing by saying only half of female Azurill are able to evolve.
The Azurill family resembles water bubbles.

Non Indicative UsernameWhen you play a new game, how do you build your teams? My Champion team tends to be my Starter, the cover Legendary, 3 Pokemon from that region, and one Pokemon not from that region that I've never used before and wanted to try out, e.g: Golduck in Black 2, and Machamp in Alpha Sapphire.
I look through the Pokedex and pick which ones I like best and make up my mind to use them that run. Or, if I haven't checked the Pokedex lately, I'll just stick with one or two and pick up new members as I go.
I just pick up whatever tickles my fancy, though I try to pick out Pokemon I haven't used before and I always keep my starter.
I just try to maintain type coverage
I honestly have a team in mind if I ever play the Johto remakes; Quagsire, Ampharos, Heracross, Pidgeot, Dragonite, and Typhlosion.
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!I just pick up Pokemon as I go. I try to have a diverse balance of types, though, as well as stat spreads (I try for an even split of physical and special attackers, at least; bulky tanks are not useful in singleplayer).
I also try not to front-load my team too much; I'll typically have three to four members by the third gym, a fifth by the fifth gym, and a sixth any time before the eighth.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! What's wrong with Sleep Talk?
