:/
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseWhen it comes to VGC, whether is still rather strong in Gen VI. 5 turns limit isn't that bad when matches are very short.
In 2014 Drought Charizard is the second most popular Mega. The finalist Jeudy Azerelli brings two whether setters (Charizard and Tyranitar). Hail Room teams have modest success at regionals.
In 2015, Japan Sand is considered the second best archetype after CHALK. I myself enjoy using a rain team with Mega Mawile.
Also, fire and water moves still retain the 1.5 boost by their respective weather.

Non Indicative UsernameSo translated from Spanish we get....
SOL (Sun) + GALEO (Swordfish) = Sun Swordfish (Alternatively, in Greece "Galeos" means Shark]], so Sun Shark)
LUNA (Moon) ALA (Wing) = MOONWING (So either an Owl or a Bat I'm guessing)

So am I the only one when seeing Solgaleo, immediately thought "Galileo", instead of leo (lion)?
Holy shit, the RNG hated both of you.
Also, Regirock in OU?

Interesting. Particularly with the theories about the game being set in Spain
Nope
Solgaleo makes me think of Lion or Galileo and, I might be wrong, but I think the 'Sol' part is in reference to the Sun.
Lunaala, weirdly enough, the very first thing that came to mind was Nala, and, I might be wrong, but I think the 'Luna' part is in reference to the Moon.
Gigareki, because I already had Lion King on the brain, the first thing I thought of was Rafiki. Gigareki sounds like an amazingly metal name though.
Somebody on another forum thinks "Gigareki" may mean "Giga Power", since Reki means strength/power in Japanese. Their first guess was that it's the name of the next big mechanic.
Take that as you will.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?A Pokemon literally named 'Giga Power' would be awesome.
Also, Serebii said the trademarks were registered back in February under what appears to be a proxy, hence why they went under the radar.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Reki doesn't mean "power". The person you heard that from is likely mistaking that for "riki" (力).
Reki can mean "history" (歴) or "calender" (暦) though, so I've heard guesses that it refers to the latter to go with sun and moon. I'm not sure what "giga calender" would mean though, so I don't know about that.

We keep looking at spanish, but I think Latin might have our answer especially since international appeal is supposed to be a thing.
Ok, so I've done some digging though the 2ch thread where this stuff was found, and though Twitter. So what's going on here is that there's a Twitter bot that automatically updates with any trademarks that become public at the Japanese trademark office. Some Japanese fans found some tweets from earlier this month and last month that fit the same format as trademark tweets that leaked several XY Pokemon back during XY leak season. They have a picture showing a katakana name and romanization, have the exact same trademark classification, and aren't listed under Nintendo or Gamefreak, but under the name of someone who appears to be a trademark lawyer.
For example, here's the original trademark tweets for a couple XY Pokemon, Delphox and Meowstic. They don't have the pictures, but they fit the classification, and weren't listed under Nintendo. Here's the tweet for Xerneas, which is listed under Nintendo/Gamefreak, but has the same sort of picture showing its name. Bonus, here's the tweet for the trademark for Mega Evolution, made public months before it was revealed, and apparently no one noticed or linked it to Pokemon.
So anyway, here's what they had found. Here's the trademark tweets for Solgaleo and Lunaala. Additionally, they found one's fitting the format for a Mokuroh, Ashimari, Nyabby, and Marshadow.
Solgaleo and Lunaala obviously sound like the box legendaries. People on 2ch and Twitter are already speculating on Mokuroh, Nyabby, and Ashimari being the starters.
Thoughts?
Sounds about right for the names, I suppose. The starters' names would definitely be the Japanese versions though.
So, is there some reason "Gigareki" isn't likely to be a pokemon?
Nyabby sounds like the regional cat rather than a starter
Serebii's been posting on twitter that it's possible this is unrelated to Pokemon. While a proxy IP lawyer could be the one registering them (possibly to keep it as under wraps as possible), typically Nintendo, Game Freak and Creatures all register trademarks together.
Gigareki applies to NFE mons, and is totally not Mega Evolution.Pikachu gets it.
Secret Signature@last page: Yeah, GF kinda sucks at nerfing properly. The Steel nerf was fine, I think, but it did make Dark even better.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.What make Dark type strong this gen is Knock Off. The Steel nerf is counterbalanced by the Fairies. Zoroark, Hydreigon, and Scrafty fell out of favor this gen.

Warrior to the very end! My tumblr, dood!I don't. I remember it gets killed by Garchomp and Salamence.

They tend to overcompensate when they nerf things.
Rather than just modify, remove, or weaken one overpowering element, they like doing all of the above in combinations that aren't ideal.
So now not only are moves boosted by weather weaker, weather is now too situational to be relied on (outside the extremely overcentralizing Primals), and the type gems can't be played around with at all outside the mostly useless normal one.
Kind of like how all Psychics really needed to be balanced as the Special stat split, but than they went ahead and added two types that could easily combat them, and now Psychic is considered one of the weaker types due to their hasty overreaction to its power.
