Hugh was pretty decent, but his character for the bulk of the story was RAWR! PURRLOIN!.

I liked Shauna...

Calem/Serena was just irritating, and I have absolutely no feelings about Trevor or Tierno. But Shauna was nice.

So...favorite final Rival teams?

Hugh was okay, I liked Cheren and Bianca more. His "I'm about to unleash my RAGE" was so lame though. Barry i din't care for at first but he grew on me over the years and I appreciate him now.

Serena was kind of pathetic, and she had a lot of wasted potential for her team. She could've used one of the Kanto starters and the fossil you didn't choose, but unfortunately, the game designer was a Sephiroth fangirl and gave her a Mega Absol instead.

Shauna was okay for the most part.

Tierno's character suffered from lack of development on his end.

Trevor is a Lumineon given human form.

I feel like one of the few people who doesn't think Brendan and May were bad rivals.

The Kalos secondary rivals/friends sucked. They pretty much did nothing.

Serena/Calem had potential to be interesting if the games played up the inferiority complex more, but they didn't and they fell prey to being unremarkable. At least Hugh had some memorable scenes while Brendan/May had a bit of Ship Tease.

Brenden and May were great in ORAS. They were just overshadowed by Wally and his theme.

Brendan and May were pretty meh and Wally's music is overrated. It's a decent theme, but it just doesn't feel like battle music to me.

I feel like the all of the remixed battle music tracks were better than Wally's theme. Again, it's not a bad theme, but its quality is a bit overblown.

Besides, Route 113 > Everything

Wally's theme is too short and thus gets too repetitive quickly but it's pretty awesome.

Unova route 10 is the best route music.Though yeah 113 is certainly up there next to sinnoh's snow route theme.

brendan and may are pretty bland rivals

silver is still the best

Silver, Barry, and Douche were the best of the rivals imo.

Bianca is still my favorite rival, I should try finishing ORAS and see if I end up liking Wally.

No.

I used to really love the OST for gen 6, then i heard the others, and now I would rank it low on the list for great pokemon soundtracks.

I like the soundtrack for gen 4, i just hate the soundFONT. I found it to be very distracting and would muddy some of the game's better tunes, like Cynthia's battle theme, the legendary pokemon battle theme (actually, i really don't like that song), and Dialga/Palkia's battle theme. Can't think of some others at the top of my head.

For now, i don't have a favorite villian team or rival, but then again, i've either played or watched let's plays of these games so anything before Platinum I don't really have much to add.

Hugh was kind there for me. I didn't forget him, but he wasn't too big of a deal either.

And speaking of HM slaves, how would you guys feel about me messing around with a Pokemon Crystal map editor to make H Ms like Cut, Strength, Whirlpool, and Waterfall only necessary for sidequest stuff? Kinda like how Black and White handled H Ms for the story mode?

Why not? I like the idea.

I like everything you're doing with that ROM hack and would applaud if that were the case.

Cool. I think Surf staying mandatory is fine because it's a great attack move as well. Unless you guys think I should make that optional as well. Because I should be able to.

My random suggestion is to not make any of them mandatory, but make them lead to either more convenient paths, or to secrets.

Which then presents a choice to the player on to skipping H Ms to have a full team of useful mons, or bring along a HM Slave for that extra Gold Nugget.

It also would be incredibly awkward to have an entire patch of ocean that you could feasibly walk over.
