Harada did say that he was considering the return of Kuni, Angel, and Dr. B, and he (jokingly, I think) wanted Devil Ganryu to be the final boss. Besides, the first three, character rebalancing and tweaking, and some sort of mini-game (Tekken Bowl, where are you?), I can't really see much either, but that's the only way to explain it. Either that, or someone supremely screwed up and somehow swapped around the release dates for TTT2 and Soulcalibur V.

Have that included the mini-games in the arcade releases, before? How amazing would that be for a guy to tie up the machine because no one can be his 300 in Tekken Bowl?

There's always the possibility of guest fighters, of course. They've been teasing at the Street Fighter guys with renders or bits of footage at the end of the Tag 2 trailers, say maybe Ryu and/or Chun Li might be a part of this new version, as an appetizer for the long off Tekken x Street Fighter.

Honestly, I hope not. If this were a crossover, maybe (and that's a case-by-case thing), but this is purely Tekken and I'd very much like it if it stayed that way. The only exception would be if it was somehow connected to the Soul series as a reversal of how Yoshimitsu's ancestor(s) appeared in Soulcalibur and Devil Jin's style being available in CAS in SCV (and that would have to be pulled off reasonably well).

I wouldn't put it past them. Ono was a big part of the trailer for Tekken 3D back at the last Tokyo Game Show, Namco's been guest fighter crazy with their other flagship fighting game series, Tag 2 hasn't performed as well as they hoped in arcades (I'll see if I can dig up where I read that) and there's no denying that Street Fighter is a lot more popular in the west than Tekken. Hell, look at this thread: you and I are the only ones to make posts in it on any kind of regular basis. Anything they could use to strum up interest and get quarters (Or Yen? Quarter Yens?) into those machines I could see them going for, at this point.

Besides, Tekken has had a guest fighter before, and I don't think anybody begrudges them for it.

You do have a point. The Ono/Harada marketing ploy turned out to goofily (I don't think that's a word) popular. And they did have that development video showcasing Ryu and Chun-Li for TxSF (with Young Heihachi and Nina respectively in their place), so they already have some of the work done (even though we won't be seeing that game for a while).

... Ah, forgot about him. Yeah, Gon was a pretty... odd choice for a character, but hey, I don't make the shots.

Hopefully, if they do go down that path, it'll be something sensible and not outlandish.

There are stripper pole beat downs and Mary Poppins tag-ins already in the game. I think we're past the point where outlandish is out of the question. tongue

I don't mind the extra wait for the game, we'll probably get a much better product as a result. Just take a look at the example of Soul Calibur 5. Reason enough?

I had a look over at Tekken Zaibatsu concerning this new version of Tag 2. Apparently the current version is missing a bunch of standard stuff: secondary costumes, character specific customization items, pair play, etc.

It might just be an update to restore all of that, but a lot of people are speculating that they'll add everybody that's missing from Tag 2 (Which is just Doctor B, Angel, Michelle, Alex and Kuni, if my memory's right) with the re-release.

What about normal Ogre and Devil as a seperate character?

Somehow, I doubt it. I mean, Kuma did get her own spot separate of Panda for the first time, but I can't see them revamping Ogre when new-and-improved True Ogre is already there and Devil is more or less Kazuya already (in terms of both moveset and story purposes).

The demons against discrimination league would like to argue with you on the 'same person' part. A demon would be caught dead merging with a filthy human.

More seriously, I'll concede on the Devil/Kazuya point. Ogre however I'll have to disagree on. They could if they really wanted to revamp his moveset like they did with Jun. I mean Asuka pretty much filled her role since she was introduced right? Still didn't stop them from upgrading her moveset this time around.

Except for that Ogre and True Ogre share about 90% of their moves because most of them were taken from the fighters in 2 in the first place. From what I can see, Jun and Asuka more or less got the Nina/Anna, King/Armor King, or Eddy/Christie treatment, and from what I've seen of Jun in action, she doesn't seem to be too different from her TTT incarnation. In order for Ogre to stand out from himself, you'd either need to give Ogre a stronger emphasis on his telekinesis (as opposed to True Ogre's fire breath, snake arm, and flight) or give him an almost completely different moveset still consisting of odd combinations of techniques from the cast of 2. It's possible, but I don't quite see things going that way.

That's what point I'm trying to get across. I know it would be a pain mostly (telekinesis moveset sounds awesome) but I would get why they wouldn't include him.

Jun on the other hand seems quite different from what I've seen. Enough to distinguish her from Asuka at least.

That would be awesome if that happened.

Our first bit of information about the Tekken Tag 2 update:

It'll probably be called Tekken Tag 2: Unlimited.

It'll have a one on one mode.

Uh....

If it's an extra mode, I don't see any problem. Extra options and all that.

I've got two guns pointed west and a broken compass.

TTT had a 1-on-1 mode as well. At any cost, it's good to have some variety with gameplay. The more options, the better, I guess.

Not really. Ganryu assumes a Devil-like form in his T6 ending, but it was supposed to be a joke. I'm not entirely sure how serious Harada was when he suggested that, but the rest of the team said no.

Oh, and here's the AOU trailer for TTT2U. Looks like Pair Play is back in. There's also a feature for 1-on-2 fights.

I wonder if new characters, stages etc will be a part of this update, or if that is a more console thing.

I dunno. The console release is still a while away, and the home versions tend to get a few extra goodies.

Goes to show how much I know about the tastes of the Japanese. I always figured Alisa or Lili would be a lot more popular than Asuka.

It's good to see Eddy and Christie somewhere on the chart, too.

That is a bit surprising. But Lili is at #6, which is pretty good, considering that she's pretty recent as far as female characters go. The only females above her on that list are Asuka and Jun (the latter being a major darkhorse).

Lars being at #2 is probably the most puzzling. From the way I've heard it, him and Alisa were something of Base Breakers.
