I think it's a little bit selfish, personally. This industry runs almost entirely on support from the fans, and if you're buying the game used, you're not providing the devs with that support. That adds up, and affects future productions. In exchange for saving what, $20?

I mean sure, there are always exceptions and special circumstances, but the sort of people who will always buy their games used, just so they don't have to spend as much money are them are kind of selfish, yeah.

Perhaps if they lowered the price for the game brand new then they wouldn't have to try things like this. Does it actually work in the end? That's all I'm wondering.

Ah who knows. Even buying new can be cheap though. I recently bought a brand new copy (Online Pass included) of Assassins Creed: Revelations off of ebay for $18. And that's a triple-A game that came out less than a year ago.

Either way, it will not affect my purchase. I'm happy to buy just about any Tekken game new.

Also Harada has something to say, right here.

As usual, EventHubs is losing their minds over this. It's a pretty easy concept to understand, not to mention that it's a farcry from the SFxT fiasco since a) as far as we know, the DLC content is not on the disk, b) even if it was, it's still free regardless of whether or not you pre-ordered the game, and c) the online pass is only $10, meaning that if you were to buy the game used, that would essentially bump the game's price back up to about the same cost if it was new.

Why is our generation prone to such feelings of entitlement?

smh

It is sad that this needs to be clarified.

It really is. It's times like this that make me hate the lesser half of the FGC.

How much are used games, usually? Because with a semi-decent deal, you could still be saving $5-10 if you buy the online pass.

I don't know if it is the same in the US but here the price goes down and down as time goes on from release. Games that are 3 years old could be as low as £5 if your lucky.

New games that get sent to the pre-owned section are usually around £5 cheaper at the most.

Here, it mostly seems to depend on how popular it is. If it's a game that people are still buying new several years after release, then used copies are going to be barely noticeably cheaper. If even new copies are being priced low to get them off the shelves (in January, I bought Metroid: Other M for only $10) then they'll be practically free, used.

Unfortunately, not everyone can come to such conclusions, it would appear.

I thought this kind of attitude(the snottiness in general) was always around.

Anyways, to move on, some people believe that Snoop Dogg may be playable.

It's probably always been around, but I think it's worsened since the turn of the century, especially with DLC and whatnot.

And honestly, I hope not. I think the stage and cameo are good enough for Snoop Dogg Lion.

Yep, DLC itself has certainly caused debates especially concerning the idea of paid( as opposed to Harada's free) pre-release DLC and the idea of having "the full experience."

You know amusingly enough, despite Capcom being critisized for pre release DLC, I think those guy are the only ones that actually have done paid post-release content. Specifically for SSF 4 with Yun, Yang, Oni and Evil Ryu(but that's a different topic.)

[up] Nintendo's done it too, now. The new Fire Emblem (which is their first time doing paid DLC) has had new content every week for the first month after release, and every two weeks since then (it came out in April).

So did Mortal Kombat. Skarlet and most of the Klassic costumes (IIRC) were on the disc, Kenshi, Rain, and Freddy weren't.

Also, I love that picture of Harada holding a rifle in the arcades as Third Strike is playing behind him, as if he's asserting, "It's free, damn it! It's FREE! F-R-E-E! FREE! That means you don't have to pay for it!"

@ Great White: Hey, but couldn't you kill his character at the end of story mode by throwing him out a window? [lol]

@ Hellman: Snoop recently went into reggae and changed his stage name to Snoop Lion. Kid you not.

@ nomuru: BLAAAAAH!!!

lmao @ the intro. True Ogre interrupts the fight and the crowd eats it up like it's some kind of special effect. And then we have Raven and Kuni double backflip-somersaulting into the arena like Gs as Anna and Nina play the backstabbing game yet again. Also, damn Angel, you scary.

Witnessing Jinpachi on his way for the tournament in a Taxi was just the high point of everything, the following parts of the intro were awesome and all but Jinpachi in a cab? There are no words.

I told you guys Angel was scary!

The tournament looks like such a party. grin

Jinpachi in the back of the cab is scary, too.

In terms of buying games used, I have no problem with buying Tekken games new, because Namco doesn't rerelease them like Capcom does with their fighting games.

I do buy some games used. With some games, I don't have a choice. I do like to save money, and I like the idea of getting as many games that I want as possible at a time... does that mean I'm a part of the problem? sad

No. The problem is mostly the players who bitch when buying used does not offer exactly the same conveniences that buying new does.
