If this is the last season, will the Amazons make an appearance? I feel like the writers forgot about them.

The writers have forgotten about a lot of things. Hey, what happened to Purgatory again? Or that other dimension ruled by giant monsters?

[up] She came back and they killed her anyway. And then in the most recent season, I believe, they brought in an alternate universe duplicate for, like, an episode.

Jared Padalecki is trying to reboot Walker, Texas Ranger. It's just going to be called Walker and this is what it's about: "the series will explore morality, family, and rediscovering our lost common ground. At the center of the series is Cordell Walker, a man finding his way back to his family while investigating crime in the state’s most elite unit. Our broken widower and father of two returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years for a high profile case — only to discover that there’s even more work to be done at home. In a nod to the original series, Walker and his new partner — one of the only women in Texas Rangers’ history — are the modern day heroes our world needs, following their own moral code to fight for what’s right, regardless of the rules."

I mean, it actually sounds kind of good? But I don't want any money going to Chuck Norris, so I hope they don't have to pay him anything for the rights.

Did he help create the character?

If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.

No, so I don't think any money would go to him, but he might still have a stake in the property.

Yo. A little discussion starter topic that doesn't have anything to do with the final season...

So, something just occurred to me about this scene in "The Monster At The End Of This Book" (the one where they first find out about the Supernatural book series and meet Chuck):

Dean: There's "Sam-girls" and "Dean-girls" and...what's a "slash fan"?
Sam: As in, "Sam-slash-Dean"...together.
Dean: Like, together together?
Sam: Yeah.
Dean: They do know we're brothers, right?
Sam: Doesn't... seem to matter.
Dean: Aw, come on. That... that's just sick.

Does it strike anyone else strange that it's Sam who knows what Slash is, while Dean apparently doesn't know the term at all? Dean's been shown as a major pop-culture geek even if he tries to hide it (While Sam... is actually not, as far I have been able to tell), and we know he likes his hentai and porn. Dean's the one who doesn't know what Slash means? Possibly because he's not as internet-culture savvy as Sam is, but I'm still not buying that (haven't we had a Delete My Browser History joke from him?) I'm calling Obfuscating Stupidity on that one. Discuss.

Dean is antisocial and doesn't fandom. Sam communicates regularly with the world, follows up on modern tech, and such. Dean is just a fan. Sam studies fandom because he finds people fascinating

Probably right that he doesn't fandom, on second thought. I am rethinking this. He's not that much older than Sam, but he's much more old school in his interests (music, car, haircut, heck, even his geeking out over Scooby Doo is old school) and methods. Given that, the places he'd hang out just might not get caught up in fads and slang started in (mainly) younger people's online social circles (ie, creating online fan fiction, shipping characters, and the term 'slash').

I never thought of Sam being that interested in sociality, or Dean being that much of a introvert. More of them both being somewhere in the middle, but relatively isolated (from non-hunters) to keep people from knowing what they do and because they move around a lot. Except that Sam had the period where he was in college, and didn't have to pretend he was anything more than what he was, and was surrounded by peers day and night (essentially enforced sociality).

Edit: Sam does seem to give much more thought than Dean to caring about people's emotional states (vs. physical states), though.

I went back and read the posts on the last page discussing the ending of season 14 and what season 15 would be like. Personally, my first reaction on the season 14 ending was also, 'So Freaking Meta'. Which, really is appropriate, as they do bend the fourth wall a lot. And you really can't get a higher level boss for a final season. Also, 'How on Earth are they going to get out of it this time?'. (I guess it's a good thing the apparent Zombie Apocalypse was localized? Then again, don't want to kill your favorite entertainment, after all, just scare them into doing what you want them to do...)

More thoughts on the season now that it's thirteen episodes in? I think my favorite episode was episode ten, where they lose their Plot Armor.

FYI, the CW is currently re-running the already-aired episodes of Season 15 on Sundays in preparation for re-starting the season in the fall. Streamable on their website next day (last 5 episodes aired available, so currently the first three episodes of the season are up as well as 12 and 13, I believe).

I actually missed a certain number of the early episodes of the season, so I'm happily taking advantage of this. smile

So it's over after 15 seasons,wow.

The impression I get from the reactions I'm seeing on my dash is that they just wanted to be done with this show and move on and of naturally fans are not pleased with the rushed final

Well they had 2 more episodes planned to handle the Grand Finale but they got cut short via Covid.

Jensen and Jared both stated that they were very comfortable having steady work for 15 years and it was never a chore for them even if it did sometimes interfere with other projects. Acting is a feast or a famine and while they were ready to move on awhile ago, it was never something they resented.

?

My understanding was that they has two more episodes to film when they got shut down by COVID (not including episodes already filmed that just needed post-production work), and that's what they filmed when restrictions eased. But that they were tweaking the episodes during the break (possibly out of necessity for safe filming protocols, maybe who they could get back given the protocols, scenes with large numbers of extras sound like they could be problematic, etc).

Just finished streaming Carry On. I mean, it's all well and good to end the story of the Winchesters definitively, and it does say something about them as characters how each of them died. Yeah, it was tugging at the heartstrings. And I think the message was, all things must end, and, like Sam, we have to learn to carry on without those we almost thought we'd have forever. But it did feel anti-climactic after the last episode; I can imagine a lot of the same things, but maybe Dean dying as they defeat Chuck, and that split into a true two-parter. But maybe part of the point of it was that most of the time it's not the most dramatic, climatic battle that gets you but when you least expect it doing what you're always doing. Although, if it wasn't directly defeating Chuck that killed Dean but something more mundane... eh, I'm backseat writing. tongue

I'd just like to throw in a joke, that the last bit was essentially a cutaway back to the "The French Mistake" episode. tongue

Dean and Sam lived in part because of plot related immunity. Literally, God was keeping them alive until their destiny was fulfilled.

So of course Dean, without plot immunity, dies as a person will when facing vampires.
