*Still hates the SU-85* I still honestly consider the grind on that thing to be more painful than it's worth. It just felt so very BAD with the short 85. Maybe it'd be more fun to grind the non-sucky 85 if I used the 122mm derpgun. Part of what bums me, though, is that tanks and TDs use "different" guns even when the guns are exactly the same, and I've always felt that the Russian line seems to be among the worst about forwards compatibility (and the American line, one of the best).

I am finally starting to like my T20, though. That said, I think the ROFLstomp me, another T20, and a T25/2 put on the enemy team on El Halluf assault helped my opinion of it. Across the three of us, we killed probably at least half of the enemy team.

[up][up]There's a reason why I'm hesistant to make the jump to the SU-85. Currently my SU-85B is able to deal with most targets, and the gun deals some pretty good damage when it penetrates their armor. But when it doesn't... ugh, can't count how many times the armor on a Churchill or that oval-shaped french tank had fowled my shot, and even if it gets through it just does a pittiance of damage against them.

The only reason I can think of to go through the SU-85 is because I want the TDs I fear facing the most: (I)SU-152. The 152mm guns are fucking terrifying.

The -85 is amazing, but slow to fire, with the 107mm.

They took that out in 7.5 and the long 85 has THE SAME FUCKING GRIND. That said, I had determined the grind to the 107 to be too damn painful and just sold the SU-85. Not even gonna try again unless they put it on sale.

Assault has me wondering how well taking an inspiration from the Thebian Phalanx would work when on the offense. Take just enough tanks along two flanks to tie up defenders (say, two per flank) and have everyone else try to force through the third flank, crush the defenders there, and smash through the other enemies while they're still engaged with the diversionary forces.

[up]In a clan match where the tanks are completely even, sure. Problem is, the tanks aren't: stuff like the KV-1, T-54, Churchill and AMX-40 can be near-impossible to kill for some tanks due to their armor. Also, you've got no way of knowing who's where until after you locate them, so the plan could fall apart if it turns out that the enemy has more heavier armor on one front than the other.

The diversionary forces can afford to engage in a drawn out peekaboo. Their job isn't to destroy enemies, just hold enemy tanks in position while the main force smashes the smaller, spread out enemy forces. Remember, most players get tunnel vision when they get into a fight.

What are those M4 versions? I'm on my phone and it looks fuzzy.

^yep. They're by Arseneus (sp?). You can find some of them on Mirtankov and all of them on the US forum.

The Agrimotor makes no sense to me at all. I mean, this is being given to a country who had a reputation of building good tanks with exceptional armor and firepower, yet that thing is so piss poor in so many ways that I can't even fathom WHY would Germany even build it. And just where exactly did they find documentation proving that thing existed?

And Given all of the new British units apprearing in those images... I'm guessing that the British faction will finally be released in 8.0?

the agrimotor's a joke, right? That looks more like something the french resistance would use.

and anyway, any tank will probably 1 hit kill it. it'd be stupid

looked through the picture some more. i question why we're not freaking out over the tank with FREAKING MISSILE LAUNCHERS.

I doubt we'd be able to use them. As it stands, the American M3 Lee has three guns, yet it can only use the one that's turreted foward. And given that the tanks in question only have 2 rockets, I doubt they'd make them available. Makes me wonder why did they even bother designing the unit, then?

[up]Note the FCM F1, 2CBis, and FCM2C. All of which have multiple guns, some of them in multiple turrets. Multigun support is supposedly on the way at some point. We might be seeing it very soon with these coming in.

Also the Hotchkiss with the Walking Stuka outfit.

Don't you just hate it when you fire and die before the shot actually goes off?

SgtRicko Since: Jul, 2009

The lag is worse. Especially when it causes you to ram into another friendly tank and cripple their tracks, or worse yet in the middle of a fight, causing you to miss your shot and get killed.

Balmung Since: Oct, 2011

I don't actually have much lag, just crappy framerate.

I usually run into the KV-1 and KV-1S more often, so I can't say for sure. But if the armor and cannon is anything like it's predessor? Definately, yeah. Only tank more irritating for me to fight would be the Churchill or that American Bradley look-alike.

Balmung Since: Oct, 2011

Armour is basically the same as the KV-1, but it has the beautiful 152mm derpgun that terrifies other players and oneshots a lot of the competition.

I'm trying to decide if my next tank will be a Tiger(P) or a KV-1S.

Well at least the fact that's usually stuck facing against the higher tiers would save me some worries then.

Currently I'm debating whether or not to continue down the Soviet tank destroyer line, putting up with the Lee until I get the M4 Sherman, or whether to change gears and try to unlock the T-34 instead. From what I've seen, it would cost very much in points, and a lot of folks seem to like the tank, but at the same time it's stats don't really seem special. I'm also worried that it might turn out to be another retarded choice like I made with the Lee. Which, if the last few posts haven't clued you in yet, is a tank which I hate playing with like no other.

Balmung Since: Oct, 2011
#2274: Sep 11th 2012 at 12:16:11 AM

T-34 is nice, sadly the A-20 makes the Lee look like the epitome of awesome. It's not even that the A-20 is inherently bad, it's that it's treated as a scout, which means that it has very unfriendly matchmaking, while at the same time, it's a very bad scout because it has bad acceleration and bleeds most of its speed off in even basic turns.

I'd actually recommend sticking with the Lee long enough to pick up both the T1 and the M4. Really, just consider yourself lucky to have never experienced the horror of the A-20 or the Pz38na. Every line has its stinkers (though after 8.0, the entire Pz4-Maus line is expected to be nothing BUT stinkers, save for the Tiger(P)). For American tanks, it's the Lee. The Russian medium line's stinker is the A-20. The German tree's shit sandwiches are the Pz38na and Pz III Ausf. A (and the VK 3001(P) has a really bad stock grind). The French have the B1 and AMX 40.

SgtRicko Since: Jul, 2009
#2275: Sep 11th 2012 at 12:23:32 AM

The AMX-40 is a stinker? That tank's armor is almost impossible to penetrate, and it doesn't seem to have any critical weakpoints!
