Yesterday I got the honorary rank "Spotter" twice, with my Ferdinand.[lol] Usually I'm the one needing spotters.

And I continue to fail in my Tiger. I have now a 38% win chance in it. That's five points below my second worst vehicle. I honestly don't know what I'm doing wrong. And I just keep getting worse.

Treat it like a sniper. Stick to cover whilst reloading, and make that accuracy and penetration work for you. You're a second-line tank, not a first-line one. Unless, of course, you're top-tier and everyone else's heavies are dead.

The thing is, almost every heavy tank and many of the meds at the tigers tier were specifically designed in response to it. All of them are made to kill you. You've just gotta sit back and Chuck shells there way as a sniper

Don't worry I'm just as bad as you with them LOL. 44% WR in 167 games (Tiger I), 48% WR in 286 games (Tiger II), and 45% WR in 175 games (E-75). Although in the latter case there really is just a steep drop on average winrates for tier 9s in general (for me at least). The IS-8, Centurion Mk 7/1, and T30 suffer too.

To put things in perspective, I'm at 54% WR in 91 games in the T29, 52% in 77 games on the T32.

I'm having a bad week generally. Even when I'm having "good" games in the Tiger, I lose. Being in the top five is not hard. Not because I'm that good but because I have shitty teams. There always seems to be a lot more blue and purple players in the enemy team.

My performance in the Ferdinand dropped from 49% to 46% as well this week. Not sure if it's bad luck or incompetence.

I've been having some bad games lately too in my german med. I take responsibility for most of it, but I've had some real winners of support lately. On karelia I got up on the hill before the enemy team and engaged some of them, then got killed from behind. Turns out the 2 T Ds, couple meds, and lights that were following me before decided to camp WAY back where they had no shots anywhere near the hill.

It's not really that my teams are actually bad. Just relatively speaking. This week there were often some rather good players on the enemy team.

[up] There's a reason that the end-tier German heavies are called fascist box tanks you know. And yes, like any other free to play MMO, you can fail your way to the top since the in-game tutorial only teaches you how to shoot, shoot a KT in the rear, hide INSIDE a bush rather than BEHIND(the latter provides more camo), the wiki is somewhat accurate but not 100%, nothing about weakspots aside from sites like wotlabs you'll only learn from trial and error when it comes to combat tactics, no emphasis for teamwork, and of course I usually see some idiots in my fascist box tank here in good ol' "REMOVE ARTY FROM GAME!!!" America.

Update on my end: filed a ticket about my afk disconnects, and now I have to do a fresh install...AGAIN.

And by the way, World of Tanks needs to be updated to 9.3. The KV-1S no longger has the long 122mm, got a few new Cold War lights added, and there might be a trope for the anti AFK/inaction system.

Something I learned about weak spots. Hatches, mg ports, vision ports, vents, and similar spots are almost always weak spots. Lower frontal hull, track well, non-functioning secondary gun spots or parasite turrets, anything that sticks out or off the main body, and similar targets.

The catch is how close you have to be to hit the really soft spots vs the generic ones accurately.

Weakspots question makes me wonder: which way would it be safer to drive a KV-5? Forwards with R2-D2 or backwards and it's not as strong rear armor?

[up]Good question: either kill your radioman or kill you engine. I actually heard of someone driving their TOG backwards...more than once. Let's see, with tanks that are poorly armored like the spayed and neutered Hellcat or Henschel Tiger, it doesn't matter to me which way the hull is facing or armor thickness, all that matters is how you drive and what gun you're using.

Angling and scraping certainly help. I have seen a few players driving backwards in various matches. I have seen some of the non-newb lol tractor drivers doing that. Only problem is it has a nice big easy to hit hatch on the back.

I had a wierd game on Wadi/Sand River, assault mode. I was in the defending team. Only Two heavies (one afk) a medium and one artillery started on the western spawning point! When I and some others arrived there the enemy was already pushing into the dunes. We managed to push them back for a while but lost to many in the process and finally lost.

Aside from the good ROF, movement stabilizer, and slight crew exp buff, the Fury doesn't have much else making it better than the Easy 8.

Exactly! It's a premium easy 8! I love the easy 8! This gives me an excuse to have one and keep running it!

On an semi-related note, I had an idea. "premium kits" for all tanks, which make normal tanks work like premiums in regard to crew training, but without the bonus for low tiers. It'd be nice because there's a ton of tanks people love but don't really play much because they don't have reason to. It also wouldn't cut in on actual premiums too much because they'd still have standard MM and wouldn't earn extra credits.

Sounds like too much of a good idea, and it would make it way too easy to level up your crews if that was possible. In particular to the KV-1, KV-2 and S Tu G would probably become insta-faves of everyone, and result in the inevitable nerf. And dear lord it's bad enough they screwed up the Hellcat, I don't want them touching my KV-1!!!

You're essentially just asking for "temporary" removal of the crew penalty. Too much work for too little effect...

It'd be real nice if Wargaming was willing to give out a freebie like that on the West Servers... all we ever get are the freebie Tier 2 tanks every occasional holiday or such, never the fancy, pricey stuff... sad

You can get free premiums from the On Track missions. They've given away type 64s, m22 locusts, that French premium arty, and the current one is a T-25, and theres Ben many more. Back in.May they actually gave out T34 heavies, that's where I got mine.
