I have an uneasy feeling that theyre trying to take the show back to the status quo of the first 3 seasons. Granted, muscle man and starla getting married is a new thing, and they did keep fives and celia together, but they wrote off Thomas (albiet he got to go out a hero), broke up Benson and Audrey, and now Margarets back in town and we have another awkward relationship with her and Mordecai. I hope the writers prove us wrong as i've been loving the continuity level and the character development theyve been going for and while i wouldnt be upset with a return to the older format, it would be a major step back.

They really are and it's more common than you think. With Muscle Man and Starla, they're pretty much the same even when married. Thomas is gone but he might show up again but still.

My problem isn't just how cliched it is, it's that they brought it back in the worst way possible, forced love drama and starting a love triangle. This is the same problem I had with Legend of Korra when they pretty much did the same thing.

Not that unusual, Steven Universe and (to a lesser extent) Gumball have been showing character development as of late as well. TTG, Clarence, and Uncle Grandpa are still pretty much stand-alone (i havent been watching the newer episodes of Adventure Time so i dont know what that show's doing) though.

Those shows handled it a lot better though. There are still other shows out there that do stick with the status quo for the most part.

Adventure Time pretty much put it on hold for the time being after the break up and it's for the best because it just got tiring.

Steven Universe is so far decent, Gumball has addressed it and even poked fun at how annoying it is.

I'm a little frustrated with the "to be continued" part myself. Why couldn't this have been a half hour episode?

Oh Adventuretime still has STRONG development.

I'm going to reserve judgement until we see what becomes of the drama. Will it be (another) season long romance drama? Or will it be resolved very shortly after? I'm hoping the former. Especially since it seems at the end, both Margaret and Mordecai are quite unhappy/awkward about what happened. It was going so well too until the end. sad

Damn, Mordecai, you dun goof'd real bad this time.

If it's going to be more of the same bs, then don't bother. It was season after season of him "pulling a Mordecai".

[up] Yeah, but you'd think he'd learned after the later parts of Season 5 and the early parts of Season 6. His only "Pulling a Mordecai" moment in the latter wasn't even romance related; it was embarassment of his over enthusiatic mom.

I'm going to need to watch the episode in a bit before I make any final conclusions about it, but I do have this much to say upon reading things: FUCK! FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCKITY FUCK FUCK!!!!! >_<

...I'm not happy if this has pulled what I fear it did like it sounds like.

That's what makes this frustrating because he's been making a lot of progress and then they pull this love triangle out in the worst possible way.

I guess in lighter it's funny that Rigby and Eileen have the most stable relationship in the show and they're not even dating.

On a different note, I wonder if we'll get any skips or pops-centric episodes this season. There arent really that many episodes focused on Pops (only Brain Eraser, Rap it Up, Guy's Night, and Catching the Wave), and i would like to see his character fleshed out some more, and most of the Skips-based episodes are very good in the development of his character (especially considering how mysterious he seemed in the early episodes).

Having watched the episode, I am even more ticked off. It's not just because this is the worst route you could take things. It's because I thought it was all set to resolve it how I was hoping AND IT FUCKING DIDN'T. >_>

So who wants to bet that Mordecai and Margaret get back together again, cementing that he has basically learned nothing?

To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."

I predict that the season finale will probably include a scene with CJ and Margaret confronting Mordecai and forcing him to decide.

I REALLY hope that this show doesn't start slipping into Status Quo Is God. The aversion of that trope was one of my fav things about this show. ;_;

It made it different from so many other Western Animation series.

So basically Mordecai went through the entire episode not wanting to interact with Margaret knowing he'll do something stupid to wreck his relationship with CJ, only to inevitably do something stupid with Margaret and wreck his relationship with CJ.

Quintel, can I ask you a question. Do you have, like, ''zero'' faith in your characters? This could have been a really emotional story to talk about how much Mordecai has evolved over the course of this season, but instead you threw it out the window for moar drama. I'm literally confused here- it seems like you either like keeping your main character stupid forever or this is the most desperate attempt I've seen to get viewers to watch your next season. Brah-VO.

Also, for everyone begging the writers to have it resolved by the beginning of the next season- they're not. If it was going to be some quick fix then they wouldn't have dragged it out to two seasons. Season 7 first episode will either with CJ dumping Mordecai or having them part as friends.

OR they'll do something even stupider like try to have Mordecai spend the majority of the next season trying to win her back.
