My thoughts on case 2's culprit.
Reus' motive is also a little vague. I'm not 100% recalling the case, so I might be getting it wrong, but it sounded like he thought he was kicked out because he messed up a trick and wasn't living up to the standard that the troupe had. But it sounded to me more like after he had gotten injured, he tried to perform a trick he was told NOT to perform, and got kicked for jeopardising their reputation that way.

If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television. That's more or less accurate. Either way, it's a case of Never My Fault.
The former I can understand having a grievance over (trying to frame someone for murder is overreacting, but I'm just saying, I can see there being a grudge). The latter is just petty blame-shifting.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.Reus is a self-centered, petty asshole and was built up like that throughout the whole case. You can't really expect a reasonable motive coming from that.
... And that's called jazz!I'm playing PW 1 now. The first two cases are really short and easy. I expected Redd White to put more of a fight.
The writing feels kind of ...off. I can't put a finger on it.
Where there's life, there's hope.Redd White's main flaw is that he's an idiot who really should have kept himself in an advantageous position.
To be fair, he wasn't expecting Mia Fey to come back from the dead and blackmail him into confessing. The only thing that could nail Redd White to the wall was a confession: even after proving beyond reasonable doubt he saw the crime as it happened from the same room as the victim, Edgeworth was still trying to get Wright convicted.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.True, but even before Mia came back, White proved to be massively incompetent on the stand. There's one point where he literally says "And then I chased after her... I-I mean, the attorney there chased after her!"
Redd White was too full of himself to think he could get beaten. Hell, he didn't even try to corroborate his testimony with April May. Speaking of that case, I wondered for some time why motives weren't as important in that game as they became in the other games. I saw a post on Ask Ace Attorney that Redd White was pulling strings to keep the focus off the motive and that Edgeworth, if he had to, would pull the whole "Kurain Master Sucession" card so...maybe that's it?
In apropos of nothing, I'm currently playin' Ace Attorney Investigations 2 on an emulator. I'm on the second case and I just got to the courtyard. Liking the "Logic Chess" system.
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Case 1-3 is gutbusting. Edgeworth is a bigger Butt-Monkey than Wright. How do you do that?
It also makes me appreciate the 1 investigation/1 trial ratio in Spirit of Justice.
On another note. I downloaded AJ HD. The DS sprites are nicely scaled. Payne still sticks out like a sore thumb. I have some problem loading the game but fortunately the game is divided into small chunks.

Where there's life, there's hope.Onto 1-4
So. Many. White. Flashes.
Where there's life, there's hope.So in Japanifornia people get prosecuted for something they did accidentally, as a kid. Shouldn't be surprised.
Yeah Wright, show von Karma the evidence. That'd go well.
Where there's life, there's hope.As you'll see throughout the series, nick has his moments of extraordinary stupidity
"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaI can at least say that he stopped showing vital evidence to the cases Big Bad as time went on.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.I do believe this is the last time he ever does so, in fact.
I just wish he hadn't done so three cases in a row.
I'm sure the only thing I proved is Edgeworth shot von Karma. Quercus Alba he is not.
By Japanifornia logic Edgeworth is still guilty of assaulting von Karma. Guess that's why he's in detention.
Where there's life, there's hope.Well, he claimed to have shot his father, so if it was von Karma...
... And that's called jazz!Who is "he" and "his" here?
Where there's life, there's hope.Edgeworth, Gregory. Even if he hurt a man, it's still better than killing his father (which is the main focus of the Prosecution, after all).

... And that's called jazz!An interesting question to consider: Would Manfred have killed Gregory had it not been for the fact that the moment was perfectly gift wrapped for him to do so? I can't imagine being shot suddenly leaves someone in a sensible state of mind.
Granted, he is still a terrible person for all the stuff he did after, though I am curious.
You mean, like later, in another occasion? I can see him trying to frame Gregory for a crime, like Kristoph did to Phoenix, but he would not necessarily try to murder him or anything like that, I believe.
... And that's called jazz!Onto Rise From the Ashes.
"I will be in forensics in 3 years." Make that 11, plus an unhealthy amount of Snackoos and sexual tension with prosecutors.
Lana, you are one crappy Chief Prosecutor.
The difference between GBA sprites and DS sprites is jarring, but not as much as Apollo Justice.
Where there's life, there's hope.Currently on the third case of Ace Attorney Investigations 2. So far, I'm enjoying it.
I'm loving Sebastian's "Debesteisms". "I'll run in circles around this useless prosecutor!" Well, he's not wrong, that's what he ended up doing. "We searched every crook and granny, right, Justine?" The Warden will not be happy to hear you insult her age, you brat.
Hell, even Larry gets on the "shit on Sebastian Debeste" train. "Hey, Edgy...this prosecutor is kind of an idiot, isn't he?" When Larry Butz calls you an idiot, you have truly reached new lows of stupidity.
I found Manfred's comment about how his wife was an amateur but "her cooking rivals world-famous chefs" to be cute. I'm imaging Manfred and his wife to be this adorable couple, the one that makes you sick. Behind doors, of course. I wonder what his family life was like? Did Mrs. Von Karma like Edgeworth?
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.I'm inclined to believe Edgeworth was on good terms with all of the von Karmas.
Double post but I've now beaten Case 5 and with it my first entry in the main franchise. While it was a fun ride I definitely think the next game could improve on its flaws. Namely the actual culprits need to be handled better as should the pacing and use of flashbacks.
I'm not going to write up a post but if you want my opinions just ask. That said I hope someone's gotten to writing or drawing postgame fanart of the three Khura'in siblings being happy together.
