This is good news. It could very well be that Funimation finally gets the license this year!
Yes it could! I like that Toei is FINALLY growing a brain and granting the license to countries other then japan.

Dear TV Tropes Forums... I'm sorry for leaving you for Gaia. Now I left Gaia and have an affair with Tumblr. Love, me.I'm still waiting for Harmony Gold to stop being such pricks.
You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat!I don't care about the voices, I just hope they let Caitlin Glass direct it. From what I've heard her say at cons, I know she's a big fan, and I've seen what she can do with shows she's a fan of in her Ouran dub.

PLEASE GOD LICENSE IT! And the manga and live action if you can!
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahCool, I guess. Sailor Moon is way off my radar, but I've always disliked how anime companies only focused on Japan and disregarded the vast foreign market for the stuff. It's not as big as it was before the economy crashed, but there's still enough that if they were to seriously try and capitalize on it, it might singlehandedly revitalize the industry. Stuff like this is a step in the right direction.

Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone.I remember watching Sailor Moon when I was 12 years old, or something, very early in the morning.
I also remember that was the first time I whispered to myself 'If anyone sees me watching this, I'm going to kill him, and then myself.' I have said that phrase many times during my career as Japanophile.
I really hope Sailor Moon will air on tv again. There's very little anime on tv these days.
Do you think it's possible to make an actually faithful dub that's still accessible enough to be successful on TV? Or is it moot anyway with the early-'90s animation?
That would be great if Sailor Moon came back on DVD, even if Stars was subtitles only. All I have in the way of real DV Ds of it are Super S and about half the S season. I had all the Stars episodes on subtitled videos, but one of them broke and they're all kind of bad quality, so it would be nice if Stars would come out on DVD. As for the first two seasons, I heard they did come out on DVD once, but it was very expensive (too much for me at the time) and I heard the DV Ds were poor quality, so I didn't want to buy them (and they skipped episode 67!). I have things like Real Player videos of the first two seasons, but most of the R season doesn't have subtitles and sometimes the videos don't work very well.
So in short, I'd love it if the Sailor Moon anime came back on DVD, especially since I have more money now than I used to.
The only episodes they skipped were the embarrassingly bad filler episodes that no one likes to admit existed, like the one with the dinosaur.
I've only got the first season. The video quality isn't great, nor is the sound quality, and special features are non-existent.
I hope if Funi manages to get it, Toei gives them high quality enough video and sound tracks to make a really good DVD.
I actually liked that story a lot, maybe because it stars Chibi-Usa (look at my avatar to see my favorite character). I can understand why many people wouldn't, though, and if the official creators don't like it then that's probably why it was taken off the DVD set.

Personally I don't like for there to be any skipped episodes, whether they're filler or not. Which is why complete collections of Tezuka irritate me.
Sailor Moon is far from being my favorite anime but I hope it gets an uncut DVD release, even if every season is subtitle-only.
And it just gets better from there!A re-release might also have better video quality, since I'm given to understand that Toei has better masters than what they gave ADV and Pioneer.
And it just gets better from there!I really hope there will be a redub,at least for the DVDS. All italy got was A TV deal with the dub they already made...and toys...and the manga...
....I want to live in italy.
From what I've heard, the masters ADV got were either 1-inch VTR reels or Betacam SP (not sure which). Toei has the original negatives someplace, I'm sure.
