Mmm. Someone who decides 'aww, screw it, I'll just annihilate everyone on both sides except myself' for basically no reason isn't somebody you want your plan to hinge on. Makes sense.

Right. Forgot about Unohana. I still think she died "because plot said so" rather than for an understandable reason, though.

I still think the fact that they gave her a second personality leaves room for doubt she's "completely" dead...

Kira could just be like Bellamy from One Piece, where it seems like he's dead from the last time we saw him, but then he just shows ups hundreds of chapters later. It's reasonable to assume he is, but it seems strange that nobody has bothered to mention him one way or the other.

They had that entire clean up scene, and taking care of the injured, he could have at least slipped an "Unfortunately, Lieutenant Kira died before we could arrive" in there.

Maybe, but most people assumed Bellamy was an exception, probably because he was never seen or heard from again, and never got a cover story, and then years later he just appears with only a new scar, when it was very heavily implied Doflamingo puppeteered someone into killing him.

But hasn't Kubo done the opposite? IIRC, he didn't confirm Ulq's death for quite a while.

probably cause he thought turning to ash is pretty obvious.

During my days on Mangafox I remember certain fans going on and on about how Orihime could just resurrect him.

This whole talk brings up another question, we're assuming that Thoumeux imaged those two dead, which means he can do that, which just makes it even more glaring that he didn't do that with Zaraki. I've just been going with he wants to toy with him and such, but knowing he actually can just think "die" and people die makes that more difficult. Just another thing to make this fight feel off and handled poorly.

Or he could have just smothered them, either way they're probably going to stay dead. I'm not sure if I like that or not.

Zaraki is also conscious to resist.

You would think having your arm and torso vaporized by Quincy arrows, having your eyes roll back, and having your opponent state he was out to kill would be evidence enough, but here we are.

So, throughout this battle, Kenpachi has been No Selling everything Gremmy threw at him. All of that with his eyepatch still on.

Wow, Gremmy. If you really are the strongest Stern Ritter, you should've forced Kenny to remove his eyepatch already. I mean, Roydbach beat a Kenny with no eyepatch. You're terrible.

I still highly doubt he's the strongest. Going by this chapter, none of the others even seem to like or respect him that much. My guess is he's at least weaker than Haschwalth, Askin, the Chicken Colonel and probably Pepe.

He's not terrible, he's just a railroaded idiot.

Lack of liking or respect does not imply lack strength. Their dislike for him is pretty clearly because he's a creepy little twerp whose to doing horrible things for no reason, not because they're stronger than him.

I was just thinking that if he's really as strong as he says he is, the others should at least grudgingly respect him.

The thing is, he should be stronger. What if his power was only to make the Vanishing guy? Had that guy been faster and less prone to dick around, he'd have solo'd. Instead, Gremmy removed that guy, then became a fucking idiot. He might almost be more of a loser than Cang Du.
