...What are elytra launchers?

Also, I'm glad they set it as a gamerule instead of making it a fixed rule. I bet servers do too.

Apparently, setting the number to zero turns the feature off.

Eleytra launchers have you being pushed out of a hole by a whole bunch of entities (typically boats) in order to send you soaring with an eleytra, even way above the height limit.

Out of all the mods they could have integrated into the game, they didn't do Treecapitator.

Well, if that was in the game, axes would last WAY longer.

Treecapitator (and similar) is like, the #1 reason I strictly play modded. Also up there are minimap mods and move-speed mods.

[up][up][up]I thought the mod automatically decreased the axe's durability according to the number of wood blocks affected. I remember a mod series where one guy forgot they had the Treecapitator installed and tried to chop a jungle tree with the Minotaur axe from the Twilight Forest mod. Goodbye Minotaur axe, Hilarity Ensues.

[up][up][up][up][up][up]The rule only affects mobs and players, and not other entities, so perhaps Elytra launchers are not affected.

FUCK YES, TIME TO WATCH THE UNFOLDING OF SOME NEAT SHIT!

Details:

I stayed up a little later than usual due to Worms Armageddon, but now I might just stay up a little longer to see some Minecraft shit unfold. This Tweet says the part I'm looking for starts at 20:00 CET, but it's 1:09 AM right now and my calculations tell me I have to wait 6 hours. I am, of course, waiting to find out just what they're going to put in Minecraft 1.11 once and for all. I also plan on mondo-screenshotting the shit out of it so I can post completely new pictures to particular threads. I'm pretty excited, but... Well let's just say that for some reason I'm not amazingly hyped.

Still, though, they put a lot of effort into concealing this...

Expository Edit: My time zone is 20 hours ahead of Minecon. For me it's Monday.

1.11 is now called the Exploration update.

New features:

  • New generated structure: Woodland Mansion
    • Spawns only in forests or roofed forests.
    • Has a large bottom floor and two smaller upper floors.
  • New mobs: Vindicator, Evoker, Vex, Llamas
    • Vindicator, Evoker, and Vex spawn in the Woodland Mansion
    • Evokers drop Totems of Undying which can keep you from dying and give a small regen effect if you hold it in one of your hands.
    • Llamas are donkeys, but are saddled with carpets instead of saddles, and will spit at wolves.
  • Librarian (white robed) Villagers have a new career, Cartographer, which sells maps compasses and treasure maps for Woodland and Ocean biomes.
  • Observer Block has been ported from the Windows 10/Pocket editions.
  • Shulker Box
    • Crafted from a Chest with two Shulker Shells (new Shulker dropps) on top and bottom of it
    • Items are not dropped when the Shulker Box is broken.
  • Return portals have been added to more spots in the outer End islands.
  • Cursed Enchantments
    • Enchantments with Negative effects
    • Curse of Binding makes it so you cannot remove an equipped item until you die.
    • Curse of Vanishing makes the item despawn after you die.
  • New Locate Command
    • /locate <Structure Type> [x y z OR selector]
    • Locates nearest Structure.

Dang it, the new mansions make me want to abandon my infinite desert.

Also, if the shulker box doesn't drop items when it's destroyed, does that mean infinite storage if a shulker box is inside another one?

Man I'm pumped...

Things I'm most excited for: Woodland Mansions and Observer Blocks.

The opposite; things I am not THAT excited for: Cursed Enchantments and Llamas.

[up] You can't do that.

Apparently, cursed enchantments are going to be rare, and restricted to the same sources as Mending and Frost Walker. They implied they're mainly thought for mapmaking.

I thought the first step was to break every Minecraft 1.4 map that used a give command and baffle all map makers who weren't aware of new data values.

Addons, which appear to be essentially official mods.

I heard about these new shulker boxes right after I emptied the 4 nearest end cities... Well I ended up finding enough for 10 boxes. If I want to start a new base I can just do it, instead of making 10 trips.

Today I found one of those new Mansions using a treasure map. Yeah with end game equipment, they aren't that tough. The invokers hurt, but you can just shoot them from a distance.

Those mansions aren't end game at all. It might be hard to find them when playing a normal world, but once I'd found them in the latest snapshot while playing on a custom world made to specialize in roofed forests while eliminating most other biomes, I set up a mini-base underneath it (I'm a cheeky bastard like that), and then it was actually pretty trivial to take the thing down, and I died less than 6 times. That was when I had a moderately enchanted Smite II sword from a villager, a shield, and some dyed leather armour. I managed to either kill or escape Vindicators pretty easily, and in the end I came out of it with two unused totems. All this in a snapshot where furnaces are basically unusable. So, if you want to fuck up a woodland mansion, don't wait until most of your game is conquered. I love those things, but they're not hard to beat.

Expect Mojang to buff their health, damage, and spawn numbers in a future snapshot.
