You know, if PETA's name wasn't attached to this, people would just consider it one of those "Challenge maps" with player set rules. I'm actually curious about what it would mean if animal supplies were banned from use. It would mean things like leather armor and enchanting tables would be rare, and at the same time you could still get wool from defending yourself from hostile spiders.
Also, having a non pork diet in minecraft doesn't slow you down at all once you set up a potato farm, and in the current Ravendel server I'm living off of carrots because my farming skill is really high. I approve of this server. It forces you to think about what you need to do rather than just act on reflex.
Two guys walk into a bar, the third guy ducked.Speaking of potatoes, I still need to find some and get to work replacing my wheat with potatoes.
Don't get rid of your wheat farm, wheat and seeds are always useful.
Two guys walk into a bar, the third guy ducked.Pretty sure I only even had cows because I was in the process of building a library on one of the upper floors of my house—I think I mostly just ate carrots and baked potatoes.
I kinda gave up keeping animals, except for a chicken if I needed eggs (bearing in mind I play almost all modded MC these days so eggs are less useless). I will hunt if I'm exploring and out of food but the space and the noise and the breeding is more than I want to have to account for, especially since I've turned toward themed bases.
Relevant: Harvest Craft is a mod that adds tons of food to the game; one of the things you can grow is soybeans, and press them into soymilk and tofu. Tofu can be substituded for almost any meat product in recipies. The mod makes the most sense when paired with mods that change the hunger system to make having lots of different food relevant, such as Hunger Overhaul (rebalances hunger, bigger starvation penalties) and Spice of Life (food gives deminishing returns if you keep eating the same thing all the time). Challenge maps/modpacks featuring Hunger Overhaul with Harvest Craft were a trendy thing this year: Magic Farm, Agrarian Skies, Crash Landing, etc. (BYO Google to check out the packs/mods).
These kinds of mods probably aren't on the PETA server though because they require extra client downloads.
I usually try to make a pen for each animal, and 16 sheep pens (And with mutton now in the game, 17- 16 for wool, 1 for meat). Lot of work, but it looks nice and is worth it.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Potato farms are totally awesome for food, once you get them up and running good. So a PETA-map that bans butchering animals wouldn't be much of a challenge... except for the problems about getting leather for books. Guess you'd have to go delve some abandoned mines and Strongholds for loose leather and recycled bookcases.
I heard some rumors that the original dev-staff from Minecraft has pretty much left since Microsoft bought them. Any news confirming/rebutting that?
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold. Are 2x6 holes in the ground still valid Animal pens?

Just have to shove the things into them, or build up a thick dirt wall or whatever you have on hand. I rely on those until I get enough wood to use for fencing and gates.
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.It was confirmed at the announcement that the founders, Notch, Jeb and Carl (the business guy) were leaving. Other faces like Dinnerbone, Grum, Marc IRL, Serge, and so on are staying. (Apparently a bunch of them were in WA last week visiting Redmond.)

Vegetarian challenges were around well before PETA got involved. Not even that hard, setting up a farm is just more of a priority
I'm baaaaaaackPits work, but you need to be a bit cautious since sometimes when the chunks are reloaded the animals get pushed and/or move into the walls and suffocate.
New Ravendel suddenly stopped working while I was playing.
Two guys walk into a bar, the third guy ducked.Hope my pooches are still okay in the town.
Wonder if our internet stopped. That or the kids closed something they weren't supposed to close....
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.Whatever it is, it's still down.
Two guys walk into a bar, the third guy ducked.I'll investigate. Wonder if our IP changed.
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.Sorry about that guys, it's back up now.
I distinctly remember setting up a cramped sheep pen filled to the brim with red sheep. Upon some caps lock beatings by an activist, I made a nice, grassy, humane pen.
Didn't stop the creeper from blowing my glass roof and showering my pigs and cows in lava, though.
At any rate, is Ravendel updated?
EDIT: Good god, Craftbukkit.

This too shall pass. Are you talking about what I think you're talking about Pole? Or was that someone else? I know I yelled at you for the villagers but who screamed at you for the sheep?
Creepers: They're like raptors except they explode.Recently found a video of somebody in a different country using my Minecraft account on a server. No idea if they hacked me, or were using my account as a proxy or something. Kinda unsettled me and made me change all of my passwords.
Warning: This poster is known to the state of California to cause cancer. Cancer may not be available in your country.Could have been a cracked account with your username.
I recall you at least told me to make a more humane farm. It was I Acon Mk. II so my memory is fuzzy but I know it was an inexcusably cramped pen.
This too shall pass. Are account sharers allowed on New Ravendel? Because I just finished talking to some 11 year old kid that said the sister of one of the server members (Z Slayer I think?) let him play on the account. The kid logged off in the middle of the spawn village before I logged out for the night.
Two guys walk into a bar, the third guy ducked.I don't remember there being a rule about it, but it is something that should probably be disclosed to the admins. Also, if one user of the account does something dickish enough to be ban-worthy, appeals from the other half are unlikely to be accepted.
Wait. PETA's still trying to be relevant? When will they learn that no-one gives a shit about them? There are better organizations that want humane conditions for animals that aren't batshit insane. My god seeing that just makes me want to laugh so hard right now.
