Teaser apparently features Panty just reforming herself back from being cubed and she and Stocking flip the bird.
so in other words, they're back baby!

wtf S1 happened before I first started intentionally watching anime. Anime original series almost never get sequels. Legit speechless
Wait, why's "Panty & Stocking" trending on Twitter? What could—
("A bombshell announcement from studio TRIGGER at Anime Expo!")
NO.
No no no no no!
Is this a trick?!? Are they back? Like, for real?!
(*reads live tweets and reactions here*)
...They're back.
THEY'RE BAAAAAAAAAAAACK!
I'm sure you jest, but please don't tempt them. We waited like 12 years for this comeback.

@Nouct: So instead of a Gainax Ending, we have a Gainax Opening?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.ÃŒt's been a lot of time since I last lurked the forums, but I heard the news and came as back as fast as I could.
Holy shit guys, I still can't believe it.
... And that's called jazz! What better way to deal with an ending that came outta nowhere then to say "Meh. Don't worry about it."
... But I was interested in seeing that teased plot line!
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.TeddyLoid himself just (re)tweeted about it. Sorta confirming he's back as well?
... And that's called jazz!Cool! Though we got burnt once already with the themed cafe (but GAINAX WEST is no more), let's hope this is something more substantial. Random thoughts:
- I wonder if that "Geekboy Homecoming" short comic is still canon in this new season?
- Shout Outs: I hope there's still a whole lot of them, to both cartoons and anime. Hope that the American ones aren't just superheroes but other stuff too (I bet that we'll see some nods to Rick & Morty since Japan seems to love it), and that the Anarchy Sisters will still meet other Trigger characters. Brand New Animal kind of sucked but Luluco and Nova are still around between dimensions and they promised their return so...
- In more than a decade things changed a lot both within fandoms and with the advent of social networks (best we had back then was 4chan declaring the final episode "The day Gainax ruined Christmas"...), so I have no idea what will happen. If such bland tripe like Uzaki-chan managed to create such heated discourse, what is going to happen with an unashamedly raunchy, violent and blasphemous show like P&S? At least I hope it won't be watered down for whatever reason. (Oh and speaking of it...)

"Effective Altruism" is just another bunch of horsesh*t.Wait, who owns the IP now? I'm really confused since the announcement was by Studio Trigger rather than Gainax.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. For a long while, that was a sticking point. Last I checked, legal shenanigans kept Trigger from doing a season 2 of PSG, but if Trigger was able to resolve the legal shenanigans that caused Gurren Lagann to change owners, it looks like it was a matter of time for PSG's legal red tape to get patched up.
Speaking of shout-outs, I was today years old when I learned the jacket Panty had in "Death Race 2010" ended up becoming Ryuko Matoi's jacket from before she donned Senketsu. Shared Universe Shenanigans, let's gooooo!

The latest owners that I could find was studio Trigger from the copyright listings for an exhibition held last year. Although this site says that studio Khara owns the rights, even though I couldn't find that through the link it gives as evidence. Thevsame listing also showed that the rights to Gurren Lagann are now held by Project Gurren Lagann, along with the director and writer for that show.
Ended up rewatching the show today after hearing the announcement on Sunday morning. I actually am still in disbelief this is even returning.
I wonder if the second season will go for more modern pop culture references this time around. Triple-Q did some ideas for a season 2, and it's stuff like cancel culture, LGBT episode, Panty making an OnlyFans account, mocking NFTs, a crossover episode and v-tubers.

Khara's name was on the Imaishi 10th anniversary Panty and Stocking merch with Trigger's name nowhere to be found on them. Such as this stand (カラー is Khara).
So I think it's reasonable to say Khara now currently owns the rights as opposed to Gainax or Trigger. Luckily, Khara and Trigger are practically best buddies, so they're far more willing to let Trigger use them unlike Gainax.

Anyone wanna guess if Netflix will get the streaming rights for this show? Edgerunners show that they're fine with Trigger going all out.
You can't kill art. After how they've handled Jojo and Death Note please god no.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Death Note was mainly live-action so...
I'm talking because they may allow Trigger to air it if they go wild with the content like they did with Edgerunners.
You can't kill art.And Cowboy bebop,
New theme music also a boxDrop what you're doing, bitches!
Trigger is coming back to Anime Expo 2023 on July 1, 2023 to blueball us some more on the new PSG project! (Yeah, they really did say "blueball.")
Get a load of that new Panty and Stocking key visual!

Fuck-to the-yeah!
Look at them. They're as beautiful as the day we lost them. (Even though they're totally giving us the bird.)
(And is Panty wearing new earrings or am I just seeing stuff? I feel like it should be a clue of sorts. And does the art direction seem softer than the OG series or is that just my imagination as well?)
No. Fucking. Way.
I can't believe it. Its finally real?
