So, PSP2 is out. It's such a ridiculously large improvement from Phantasy Star Universe that it's kind of surprising. The combat system has been improved quite a bit, with additional addons to the fixes introduced in AOTI, the AI is actually somewhat competent and you can order them to act differently based on the situation, a lot of the incredibly frustrating mechanics have been removed/replaced with far more player-friendly ones, and so far the voice acting doesn't induce physical pain.

All in all, I'm really happy with the direction it's been going.

Oh, and unlike PSP, it has online multiplayer.

Anyone else pick it up?

Right now, I'm fiddling around with a Cast Ranger who will probably change to a hunter, and a Newman Vanguard.

Curses. My attempt at making a Hatsune Miku Cast to go with her dress failed. -shudders-

Also PHANTASY STARS IN UNIVERSE! THEY SHINE ON!

Turns out I was able to make Hatsune Miku, only as a human instead. now I just need to level her up to level 20 so she can use the leek weapons...

And now Japan will get even better version! Oh yeah! Another period of wait and speculations "Will it come in English or not?"! Superb!

Still, it seems one would be able to carry the characters almost fully with this Rebirth thingy. But I am not buying Japanese version this time.

Well, so far almost every Phantasy Star game has been released in the US, with the exception of a few Game Gear games and the remakes of 1 and 2, which was the result of somewhat of a fiasco.

I know, but somehow, it always is a surprise, like Sega cannot just say "Japanese release now, translation will take x months, PAL/NA release in date x", they just have to make it a surprise.

Which is good for them, I guess - I mean, I did buy both the JP and PAL version.

To add something of substance: I adore the new guard/dodge mechanics - my Newman Force would probably die many more times that she did, were it not for them.

Those are nice. I'm just happy that PP regeneration isn't so brutal now. I couldn't stand playing rangers in PSU because it was damn near impossible to actually keep an adequate amount of PP going.

Kinda miss the acro classes, though.

Yeah, I can spam Foie all day now - too bad she must throw a quip when using a Tech, though.

I guess fully customizable classes and having 30 level to grind has to come from some sacrifice. Well, not really, but if I had to grind more Type points I would be...unhappy. The grinding would be unbearable, for me, at least. With Extend Type mechanic and Type Abilities You can build Your own Acromaster now:)

I got sidetracked by Pokemon White, but I'm going through story mode right now. Why couldn't PSU be like THIS?

^Indeed.

^^Well, it has a whole new race and new characters, plus new mechanics, so...

And considering every version of PSO was released here...

^^^I just miss the faster attacks, really. :P I like playing speedsters.

Actually, You could link the PS Upedia and/or Bumped blog in the OP, I think? Good idea Y/N?

Oh wow, this games sounds actually... good. In terms of character customization and whatnot. Maybe I should think about this.

Just remember that the largest draw of this game is to grind (weapons, levels, items, clothes, room decorations etc.) - the story is not too bad, though. However, it is not unheard of that one would start the game in Multiplayer Mode and just stay there.

Also, Miijhal, I learned that Humans have a Dark Mirage Blast that makes them attack faster. And since Your Miku is a Human, well...

I love that Emilia considers my cast her friend despite my cast belittling her at every opportunity and otherwise being a cynical, sarcastic bitch.

Also, Whip+G Mag is a wonderful combination.

Belittling her or not, (not really a spoiler, but just in case) PC had to die in order to save her, so I guess she would be grateful for that. Remember about the multiple endings, too!

So, uh... what's the point of importing characters from the first game? All it carried over were my name, race and the clothes I was wearing. Didn't even save my face or hair or anything. Oh, and a little bonus saber with more attack power. Basically it seems the point of importing was to flag my character as "imported from PSP 1" so I could get the import bonuses, without actually letting me carry over anything at all.

The point was pretty much to give the character some bonus items (and possibly bonus missions, I don't remember), and let them keep the general look and name of their character.
