We're calling it a dead fic after only two months? That seems rather fast.

Speaking as a fanfic writer who's had about eight months pass between chapters of a fic I did eventually complete, I second the notion that two months does not make for a Dead Fic. Just be patient.

Just....hiatus.

You have to remember that he's a busy ass man. He writes a lot of other stuff besides this fic you know.

The latest chapter took forever to come out as well. Just be patient.

Well, yeah. He's still developing theories and junk, right? He's not a "Fanfic Writer" by trade or whatever...

Edit: And now having actually read it, I am reminded why, precisely, this is my favorite fic ever, and now going back into withdrawal until August 30th. At this moment, comparing this with my writing that I've been working on, I feel kind of like some guy who's been hanging around at the top of his league for quite a while and gotten complacent, and just got a glimpse of the world champion.

Questions: Why is Snape sending the bullying tip-offs? Why did Tonks help out? And what's going to happen next?

@Ack Sed, You remember how Snape was mercilessly bullied in his time at Hogwarts? Maybe he's sort of philosophically against bullying.

If so, he was replaced by a polijuice doubleganger, because canon!Snape was the greatest bully of the castle.

Did you really not notice how no one is completely canon here? Everyone got a rationality! bonus. Thus we have rational!Snape rather than canon!Snape.

I stand by my point, a anti-bully Snape can't be Canon!Snape in any shape or form.

At this point I'm thinking he's stress-testing them for his own amusement.

This chapter has one of the best scenes so far. I'm not quite sure whether I like the actual enactment of the chant or the scene in the Potions classroom better. Draco's reaction to the latter is priceless.

"HE IS COMING," said a huge hollow voice that cut through all conversation like a sword of ice. "THE ONE WHO WILL TEAR APART THE VERY -"

And I won't even start talking about the What?. I don't know what Eliezer is smoking, but I want some!

I rather liked harry's conversation with professor quirrel. Now we know there's a ritual to summon a dementor and that it uses a sword that killed a woman and a rope that hanged a man. We also learned that harry's patronus charm was once known but long forgotten.

That's true, I missed that at first that 'Death' in this verse has already been explored. However, I'm not so sure that that's what the ritual is supposed to do—they don't know that dementors are Death, so if it was a ritual to summon/create a Dementor, then I would imagine that that would be how it was phrased.

This could be a potential Chekhov's Gun, though—Harry has a spell that can defeat Death, so if this is ever done it's more than possible that the True Patronus could reverse it.

Still waiting to see anyone come up with the complete list of references in Ch. 74.

See, this is one of the problems with being a fan of Slayers but not most other fantasy; I never know when certain shout-outs are to Slayers and when they're to stuff Slayers was referencing.

If they are indeed intended to bring dear Lina to mind, you've far more self-control than I; I'd have made a Lord of Nightmares crack by now.
