Greetings. This is the thread for requesting assistance with recovering a TV Tropes account for which you have forgotten the password.
Before posting here, please note that Get Known has a comprehensive set of instructions for managing your account. To summarize, password resets are limited as follows:
- If you have an associated email address, use the Lost Password link on the login screen to request a reset email. If that doesn't work, post here.
- If you do not have an associated email address but you are still logged in, you can register an email address and use it for recovering your password.
- If you do not have an associated email address, and have not used your previous account since September 18, 2013, we cannot verify your ownership for technical reasons.
- To verify ownership without an email address, and if you have used your previous account recently, you should be logged in on the same computer and/or Internet connection that you most recently edited or posted from.
- It is not currently possible for moderators to reset your password or change your registered email address. As a last resort, you may use our contact form
to send a message to "The Staff".

That signal tells you that you can't create a new account on an IP where someone already created one. Elsewhere it's a bug.

Man, it's been a really long time since I've been here. Anyway, I logged into my account on Internet Explorer a few months ago, but I forgot my password and now I can't log in on Firefox. Can I have a reset?
Does that mean I'm locked out of it forever? Because if I try to register it again, it says to me the handle is already in use. :(

If you're still logged in on IE, you can go to the Image Uploader and highlight the password field. It'll show you your password in plain text.

Right, I don't suppose it would register with my IP since I've changed computers since then...which is why I'm trying to log in from here, which is why I'm discovering that I don't know my password, which is why I'm here. Is there a way around that issue, then?
As the name suggests, I was Rambo M before my browser updated and blinked the cookie out of existance, and I have long since forgotten the password. Halp?

Well it must not have took because I still can't log in to my previous account. "Create know-age" tells me my IP address already has an account registered and the other way gives me an entirely unhelpful "Hmm. Couldn't log you in with that combination" message.
Yeah, he'd been asking me how to log back in now that it's reset, and I have absolutely no clue myself.

Hi, some times ago I created an account named True Shadow, but then I forgot my password, so I created this new one. Can you just delete the old account? I'm comfortable with this new one.
Also, I feel a bit stupid for asking this, but when you say 'reset', what is being reset? The password? Or the IP Address?
Is it okay if I edit with this handle? Because I'm not sure if admins will delete a handle on an IP address if the login page's "IP adress already in use" notification isn't an error.
