Greetings. This is the thread for requesting assistance with recovering a TV Tropes account for which you have forgotten the password.
Before posting here, please note that Get Known has a comprehensive set of instructions for managing your account. To summarize, password resets are limited as follows:
- If you have an associated email address, use the Lost Password link on the login screen to request a reset email. If that doesn't work, post here.
- If you do not have an associated email address but you are still logged in, you can register an email address and use it for recovering your password.
- If you do not have an associated email address, and have not used your previous account since September 18, 2013, we cannot verify your ownership for technical reasons.
- To verify ownership without an email address, and if you have used your previous account recently, you should be logged in on the same computer and/or Internet connection that you most recently edited or posted from.
- It is not currently possible for moderators to reset your password or change your registered email address. As a last resort, you may use our contact form
to send a message to "The Staff".

I apparently had an account named Doomsdayforte here, but my repeated attempts to recover access have failed, and apparently my usual passwords don't work. May I please request a password change/reset?

Sorry but no one's gotten back to me yet, is the I Ps not matching? because it might be because i'm not at my home connection, i'm at my dorm connection. anyway i move around, there might even be multiple I Ps across this campus, i'd never track down which one is right...

DFEI: I reset Doomsdayforte, since the account had no edit history at all — there's nothing to recover.
Motenai: I found Motenai Ronin's contributor page, but like I said, the IP doesn't match. On this account, you seem to share IP addresses with The Pope. That you? I guess the fact that you're in a dorm means there could be other tropers sharing a pool of IPs. Anyway, I'll need Eddie's help with this one.

I suppose the best we can do for dorm residents is to advise them to keep track of their passwords in the future and to start over on a new account.

The account "Sæglópur" is my sockpuppet, and I want to zap it but I can't remember the password to said account.
The sockpuppet is different from "Saeglopur", who is a legitimate troper. Please don't nuke his account. >_>

I can't find any evidence of that account on the forums or the wiki, Zudak, and it's an illegal name anyway — you can't edit with it. Can you point me at any posts you've made from it?

It was kind of a long time ago... maybe it doesn't show up in the system because it was before the system.

Had cookies disabled and for the longest time I could not remember how to re-enable them, in my wretched half-brainedness, hence I could not log into my older account, Boorchu. I believe the last edit I made whilst logged in as Boorchu was in December, and I was using the current IP address...I could be wrong, however. Could an admin be so kind as to reset the password? Thanks.
For the record~ you know what, it's fine, I'll just go ahead and use the Capricornus account. That's going to nag at me for weeks, but whatever. I'll go in and delete my old page, then, if that's alright.
i'm properly "ayellowbirds", but the password for that doesn't seem to be anything I can recall, and the computer on which the cookie was originally baked ain't working. Any chance of getting the password reset and this name zapped?

Okay, I'm checking back on some of these.
Nasrudin/Boorchu — again, no match on IP addresses. Boorchu's last wiki edit was December 8th. With no contributor page and no forum posts, it hardly seems worth it to recover. But there's also no harm done, either. You sure you want it back?
Capricornus — Sorry, I missed your post on the last page. I actually don't mind resetting Capricorn either, since your last edit(s) were so long ago, but if you're okay with keeping Capricornus that's less work for me to do. Actually, what the heck, I did it.

Hi! I'm Shadowdancer, but the password I had written down isn't working and when I try to bake a new cookie it says it doesn't match. Could I have a reset please? I Ps are going to be a bit of a problem since I'm on a dynamic, but if it helps any, I did a bunch of Lineage II edits.

I tried the password combo I had written down and it still doesn't work on Shadowdancer. I'm somewhat curious as to why this (dancershadow) name is in red. Is there a significance to that?

Shadowdancer was reset. The reason your handle appears as a redlink is because there's no Tropers page for it.

I tried to change my password (blame Sony), and in the process must have messed it up. Since I'd cleared cookies, I had to create a temp account to post here :-). The name I need the reset on is Roland X (no space, though the software keeps adding one here) [https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Tropers/RolandX]. I'll delete Roland Xtemp once I have that one working. Thanks!

Roland X was reset. If you want it to appear as RolandX rather than Roland X, you can set a Custom Title for it using the link in the Tools menu.

I _think_ I used to have a Riffraff handle (or rffrff), sadly my computer died and I can't seem to authenticate again with the new one, since the password I think I used to use is gone. any chance of a password reset?
