This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Hello. I downloaded a Chrome extension a while back that was meant to censor bad language, but unfortunately, it started censoring the Wiki, which caused chaos, and eventually I was suspended from editing the Wiki. But the thing is, it's been uninstalled now. I would have done it sooner, but I did not know how. Now that it's uninstalled, I apologise for any problems it caused and promise never to download any filtering extensions again. I don't want to beg, but would you please give me my editing back? I promise not to intentionally cause problems and I will not download any more extensions. Sincerely, Unicorndance.

But this presents a serious problem, how could you try to censor me because of expressing my thoughts, which in nature, are meant to encourage people and yet you people take it as a chance of ignorance and condescension. Other guys in OTC keep spewing fatalist remarks that have no platitudes either and yet you don't ban even though they can continue with it?
Just please, just unlift both bans because I now swear from my heart that I won't pester you that much anymore but at the same time, you won't make change my mindset and be like others in the forums there, because it's not healthy for me and it never will.

You don't seem to get it, Luigisan. We are under no obligation to honor "freedom of speech" on our site. Our only obligation is to keep the forums orderly and polite.
The reason you were suspended from OTC was to prevent you from derailing conversations by telling everyone to think happy thoughts. You then started doing the same thing via PM, even going to the point of suggesting that users who wouldn't accept your help are mentally ill. It is clear that the purpose for the suspension eludes you, and will continue to elude you.
So, you have a choice: Accept this ban and move on, or be permanently and completely banned from TV Tropes. Your call.

Hello, I've begun to understand why some of my most recent edits would have warranted my suspension. I've never officially read the rules of the website so I can see that some of my actions may have gone against the guidelines and I should have read the messages you sent me rather than disregard them, for the latter I apologize. ~Psytrainer: Let's talk specifics. The immediate reason for your suspension is the improper use of Characterization Tags on a characters page, and then edit warring over them. Edit warring is a zero-tolerance policy. You have also received several Zero-Context Example notifications.
While it's nice that you've volunteered to look at the rules after your suspension, I hope you realize that it's not the best approach to something as complex as wiki editing. So, to make sure you won't continue causing problems, let's hear your summarized understanding of the three rules I cited (and linked) above.

So I was banned over an edit to Pokkén Tournament. I was editing the Dummied Out entry to clarify that the characters were held back, and someone didn't like that, I guess. I mean, sure, I probably could have phrased what I said better, but my point still stands.

~N8han11: The edit reason you left on that article makes it seem like you are trying to tell people how they ought to feel about the product. "Just editing the page to warn people not to waste their money." I'm not sure in what universe you think that would be acceptable to do on a wiki like ours.
But the important point is that the example was contested, so per our policy, you must take it to discussion. Putting it back constitutes an Edit War, which is why you were suspended. You ought to know this by now.

So to my understanding, characterization tags means no simplification of adjectives (ex. calling Female Corrin "F!Corrin"), edit warring is basically indirectly fighting over changes to an article, regardless of who is in the right, and zero-context examples means that you have listed a piece of media without explaining why it fits into a particular trope. Looking back, I agree that the edit warring was uncalled for, regardless of my intention, and I am sorry for that.

Good morning. I understand that I actually made a rollback, but I have a feeling that I was a victim of a provocation or misunderstanding, because in the heat of the argument I did not notice the full text of the comment at first (I did not notice the mention that such an example already exists, so I took the deletion of the example, not its transfer, as a provocation to the war of the edits), and secondly, the user banally misled me by opening the article and editing it for a long time without making any changes, "freezing" the article and giving me the impression that he is going to rewrite it after me.
As a result, I could neither continue the discussion nor delete my text, in order to correct the misunderstanding. In any case, the moderators can read our PM, as they have rights, and you can make sure that I asked the user about the reason for his "delay", and that my attempts to clarify the subject matter of the article were ignored in personal correspondence.

Not only you were warring, but the example you added in YMMV.The Legend Of Korra is also:
- Pointlessly complaining
- Already on the page, thus being redundant
- Subpar grammar
- Not in the correct spot alphabetically
Now the P Ms were turned off for me...I haven't done anything negative to deserve, but why?
