This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

I know I went overboard with the personal bias edits from the last few days ago (I was in a bad mood from work and couldn't shake it) and while I still believe there is some truth in what I wrote I am sorry for abusing the wiki and would like to know how long before my suspension is lifted.
Tell me: whatdid I do to warrant a suspension?

This is Nostalgiachick 467 and I wanted to first say, I know why I got my editing privileges revoked and I pretty much see why you did it. For lack of a better word I acted like an ass, lol, I had no reason at all to act like a jerk on that review page and deserved the punishment. Even the excuse that I was typing on my phone isn't a good one for my bad grammar.
I've practicing though and I was hoping to get the editing privileges back so I could post some positive reviews for things and I'll take any criticism from users who don't agree with me. If you say no, I will understand and continue to just read the pages.

Hello, Mr. Best Of. I am here to humbly request my case to be reviewed. Over two months ago, I was banned for making a plan to get another troper banned, because I had believed them to have been a threat to my friends. I unfortunately did not make the best appeals, and I was too focused on justifying my behavior. This made me look really terrible, and it is something that I regret doing.
As for my intended actions, I never carried them out, and I am not inclined to ever repeat such a mistake. Some weeks ago, I spoke to the person whom I had targeted, and we are now on decent terms. She doesn't hate me, and she understands that I was only trying to help my friends.
I now know that my reasons are not going to justify what I planned on doing, and I am not going to focus on them. Instead, I'm just going to take a moment to apologize. I know that my mistake has not made you folks particularly inclined to restore my privileges, and I don't blame you. I blame only myself, and I will do anything to get back into your good graces. I am fond of the forum and the community that makes it up, and I long to see it again. All of my troper friends and acquaintances believe that I deserve a second chance, and I am determined to show them and you that I am capable of redemption.
As for my P Ms, I also hope to see those returned. I understand that you all view those as proof that I knew that my actions were against the rules, but they only served to warn me of my impending ban. My friend was kind enough to give me a heads-up, based on hear-say that he had heard. Until this point, I was unaware that my intended actions were against the rules. I had begun to suspect it, through careful thinking, days prior, but my suspicions weren't confirmed until I was warned that a ban was likely. As such, I was shocked, but I was willing to discuss options with my friend. This was ultimately ill-fated, of course, and I am now acutely aware that my plans are against the rules.
Long before that point, I had abandoned my plans, believing them to have been pointless and futile. I had never carried them out, in fact. None of this justifies what I had initially contemplated on doing, and it only serves as context. Several people can verify this, if need be.
Anyway, if you were to be so kind as to lift my ban, I would never do anything like this. I would only do what I'm allowed to do, and I would try to be a useful member of the forum. I truly like TV Tropes, and it's a shame that I squandered my privileges on something like this. My intentions were not condonable, and I understand your reluctance. I sincerely apologize to each of you, and I hope that you're willing to give me another chance. I can do better than I had done. I respect all of you. Please, consider lifting my ban.

Hi there. I'm pretty sure I know what this is about, and I'm sorry for any trouble anyone feels my edits are causing. I was really trying to limit editing swear words to situations where it seemed particularly unnecessary/and or uncalled for, and not just edit any word I see that I disagree with. I feel like I've made significant improvement and will only get better in this regard, especially since I've also deliberately been trying to stay away from pages where I believe people are or previously would have been more likely to get salty with their descriptions. I guess I haven't done a good enough job. I really hope I can continue to contribute to this wiki since I feel like I have a lot of insight to offer, but I guess that's up to the moderators. For the record, please understand that in real life, I have a mild form of Autism, and for about 8 years now, swearing has bothered me so much that it's practically a phobia. I have tried so hard to develop coping methods to deal with it, but am still working on it, and on this site, I thought that all things considered, I was being pretty lenient. I thought I was anyway. Well, at this point, the only things I'd like clarification on are if this ban was brought on by any edit or edits in particular, or if all of these small edits I've occasionally made in general brought it on. I'd also like to know right off the bat if there's any hope for me to get my editing privileges back or not. Finally, to whoever is going to be communicating with me about this, please don't be snarky or condescending to me about my sensitivity to profanity. It's something I take very seriously as it's a strong personal moral for me and something that has occasionally made my life quite difficult, especially when I was in high school, so even if you don't want me back, please be polite and respectful about it.

linksmower: You can still read the wiki while logged in. We don't have granular messages telling you if a ban is permanent or temporary; the true endgame is a full bounce that prevents you from using the site at all. Let's not go there.
~WJTaylor4: Greetings. There are two issues that need to be addressed. One is the edit warring. Being in a bad mood is one thing, but that doesn't mean you can take it out on the wiki. We can accept your apology for that, but a more important problem is that you don't seem to get our rules on Example Indentation and Natter. In brief:
- Never add a sub-bullet underneath an existing bullet unless you are creating a new list.
- Never "respond" to an example by writing another bullet beneath it. If something is inaccurate, fix it yourself.
~Nostalgiachick467: While we might be willing to accept that you posted those review comments in a fit of pique, on your phone, and somehow managed to avoid autocorrect while doing so, there's a concern that you are editing from the same computer as a troper who was previously banned and made additional accounts to evade that ban.
~Space Wolf: I don't suppose you have any evidence that you and this other troper have worked things out? A confirmation from them would help.
~Bgcallegari: Okay, I'll be plain and polite. We have to consider the wiki first in our decision-making as moderators. When tropers show up who have apparently irresistible urges to make improper changes, such as removing profanity even when it's reasonable in context, then we have to take action. We can't trust that you can keep yourself under control, and so we can't let you edit.

Well, I can't say I'm surprised. It's okay, I knew this was probably coming, and it's been becoming more and more clear to me that my personal standards don't coincide with that of this wiki. Maybe that should have been clear to me with there being at least several tropes that have words in their titles I don't like, but I really thought I could get around that. Unfortunately, I have also seen multiple instances where other tropers have used profanity that seemed completely unnecessary to me, and where if you removed it, the post would be just as effective. Obviously though, this is a matter of opinion since other clearly feel differently about that here. I'm glad we settled this, but I am still sorry that I couldn't be more lenient. I hope there are no hard feelings between me and the moderators or other tropers, because in the end, I think it was just a matter of our opinions on this topic being too different.
