This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Tropes of tv and I shared this computer. I didn't know about T Vtropes until he told me about it. I joined this site the day after he was banned because we didn't have time to both be on it before he was banned.
And the fact that you both act in pretty much the same way re:image process?
"Yup. That tasted purple."I guess we both have the same problem starting out.
Ah, the "my friend did it" excuse. Sorry, not buying it. Since you ban evaded, a direct violation of our rules, your ban is now permanent on both handles.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!""Not all concepts require an example entry; not all opinions require documentation. Things changing from one version to another is not "decay", it's just a thing that happens."
Um...well, who's to say what tropes and opinions should be documented and who's shouldn't? That really shouldn't be up to anyone except the troper (as long as it follows the guidelines, of course). But I'd like a say in my tropes and opinions just the same as everyone else. There are some tropes I've seen that I don't quite agree with, yet I don't tell them not to put them up or that it doesn't warrant documentation. I'd like the same courtesy. And while it might not be seen as "decay" by some, for others (like me), it is. And that's why I see no harm in putting an alternative trope in the YMMV section. That's what it's there for, isn't it? Everyone has the right to their opinions and their tropes as long as those tropes follow the guidelines and can be "proven" by examples. And mine can. So I get a right to my tropes and opinions, too.
But I'll take your good advice and visit the Ask The Tropers page. Maybe I can get an alternative trope for Adaptation Decay for "out of universe" examples, especially for characters because while the "universe" might vary, the character is still technically the same character. For example, Donald Duck, whether he's in Kingdom Hearts, Classic Disney Shorts, Paperinik New Adventures, Double Duck, the comics, etc. is still Donald Duck. There aren't two Donald Ducks running around, it's just his adaptation in a particular "universe" that changes. The same goes for Mickey Mouse, Squall, Sephiroth, the Marvel or DC characters, etc. And so there should be a trope for that.
Anyway, thanks for your advice and guidance. I'll definitely take it into account. Maybe after a few days, I'll ask to edit again. Thanks again.

I have been banned and i dont know why. please let me know so that I wont repeat the mistake. I would like to edit again. tv tropes is aswome.
@The Pagan Sun: Fair enough, then.
@ra-seru: You have some pretty severe grammar and spelling issues as indicated by your post ("awesome" not "aswome"), plus some This Troper and walls of text. You need to improve a lot before we can let you edit.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanFair enough
Won't someone please check out page 9 of the Fixing a long list of PSOC articles thread?
Sometimes, you just can't win them all.I've spent the last four months on other forums, and in twice-per-week therapy sessions, with adjusted medication.
I'd like to know if enough time has passed to where I can go onto the forums again.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerI noticed I have been getting multiple PMs recently regarding trope example indentation. I didn't get it at first; I'd been putting new examples in the second indent bullet point like I thought I should have. It wasn't until I looked back at the pages that I edited and saw the fix that it finally clicked what I was doing wrong: If the trope on the work already had an example listed, I had to edit that so that both it and my example were on the same indent level(for want of a better term for it). Unfortunately, by the time I realized this, I'd already been suspended. I'm sorry for the inconvenience my ignorance caused. I promise you that I will not repeat the mistake again if my suspension is lifted.

~treehugger0369: That's what we like to hear. It's not enough to indent additional examples; you have to make sure that all examples are at the same level of indentation, which includes moving single examples down if you're going to add another.
Since it sounds like you did the research (thanks for that, by the way!), I'll release your suspension.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Hello, is there a problem?
How are you doing, maedar? Didn't take long for you to ban evade.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I don't know what you're talking about.
Same IP, one day after the old account was banned? Pull the other one, it squeaks.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I still don't know what you're talking about. What's an IP? (I'm not very computer literate.)
Dear me. They do come in all kinds. Bye now.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I withdraw my appeal. I got cold feet...
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerWell, been told I'm banned.
I'm honestly not sure about what I did, so... first off, why am I get banned in the first place?
MAX POWER KILL JEEEEEEEEWWWWW~DAN004: An intense mass of complaints that you continue to misunderstand and misread tropes in YKTTW. The latest one is that "Cheery Pink" abomination. At this point we're just going to flat out YKTTW ban people who make any new appearance tropes without consulting the cleanup topic in Long-Term Projects. 99% of them are either ZCE-bait or fail to establish a causative relationship between the appearance and the characterization element it conveys.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"First off, I was not the sponsor of that ykttw. (I didn't even grab it.)
Second, I have a feeling that our requirements on what is tropable has become strict over time and we're tolerating Spec Tacle less and less. But well, this opinion weighs little since I don't have any argument against it otherwise.
Third... I never see any actual complain against me, at least outside of this thread, so...
MAX POWER KILL JEEEEEEEEWWWWWThing is, these things are not really Spectacle, just Appearance.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIn fairness, our wiki defines appearance tropes as a category of Spectacle. That doesn't mean that they have any narrative value or purpose. They convey no information to the audience.
A while back, we decided that we are not just interested in tropes as recurring patterns; we are interested in tropes as recurring patterns that convey information. If the information conveyed cannot be described in the example, it's not interesting to us.
A lot of people seem to have missed that boat and continue to insist on troping things that are simply associations of character and spectacle, with no underlying meaning.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"
Yet you just happen to have been created on the same IP address the day after they were banned and have the same behaviour pattern.
