And each scene is named, which makes it easy to remember what the contents actually are. This wasn't a feature in Tsukihime, which made it really frustrating when replaying, sometimes.

Clarification: My game refused to recognise I've played it before. I'm now up to Shinji's proposal, oh, about a quarter (or, maybe one-fifth) of the way into Fate route.

I'm even further stalled by the discovery of a shiny little thing called the Voice Patch. Oh, Shinji. Now, your voice gives me even more reason to hate you.

Oh, and well, yeah, but sometimes the Scene names get really counter-intuitive. I mean, seriously. "And So I pray, Unlimited Blade Works"... in the middle of Fate route. Does this count as a meta-spoiler?

I've got the Voice Patch, although I haven't installed it. It's ripped off Realta Nua, which raises the question of what happens when you reach the ero-scenes...

Also, you might be interested in the RN CG patch, which is worth it for Final Episode (the Really, Absolutely Final True End).

i never said i was one of them. if you surf a FSN board on /a/ (4chan), you'll come across a picture of a random FSN chick on top sakura on the bottom with the same captions (e.g.) top: SABER good girl. Bottom: SAKURA dirty slut

At those points, the voices just drop out as if the VAs realized just what the script called for and just went, "Fuck this shit!" before walking out of the studio. Personally, I think it works as a great early warning system ("Wait, why aren't Saber and Shirou voiced anymore...AW FUCK, NOT AGAIN! WASN'T THE FIRST TIME BAD ENOUGH, NASU?")

So, I got my first BAD END out of choice, it was kind of fun and it served the purpose of removing any trace of sympathy I had for Illya

God, I want to play BMW now but according to TV Tropes, I should read/see Kara No Kyoukai, play the Heaven's Feel version of Fate Stay Night (which was not in the anime), play Melty Blood, play Fate/Hollow Ataraxia, play Kagetsu Tohya, and read Fate Zero. I hate Sakura so I never wanted to do Heaven's Feel and I have Melty Blood but never bothered to play it, waiting til I play Tsuki. But now that and everything else on top? T_T

How can you hate Sakura if you haven't played Heaven's Feel? You don't know anything about Sakura. Even if it does turn out that you'll hate her anyway after playing, since when does hating one character necessarily make a story unreadable? I hate this horrible, painful, disgusting ero-game/shipping logic that a story where the love interest happens to be so-and-so makes the whole story default to great/horrible. That's not how writing works, I'm sorry. This is something that just me. A lot.

Also, have you played Unlimited Blade Works? You kind of implied that you've only seen the anime, and that only covered Fate. You should probably play through the entire game anyway if you don't want to be spoiled by the crossover thing.

a) It's not out yet and b) it's necessarily going to cut out a bunch of stuff. Hopefully they'll manage to cover the entire primary story in a satisfying way, but I have no illusions that it'll have anywhere near information to be suitable as a replacement for playing through the route.

I already have gone through UBW. Yes, it's awesome. I guess I know nothing about Sakura yet but I feel she can't get much better. Sigh, I'll go through it and see...

Speaking of anime adaptations of F/SN, it looks like the TV anime's getting some major tweaking as well.

Not sure how much but, given that it's being done in the wake of the UBW movie, I'm guessing it's to make it more of a straight up adaptation of the Fate route by altering the scenes that were from/linked to UBW and HF.

Or they could just be trying to cash in by making it slightly shinier. Probably more likely.

BMW's awesome. The main problem with BMW if you haven't played all those other things isn't that you won't know what's going on (because the game's quite good at explaining the details of the Nasuverse), is that it will spoil all those other works by doing so with numerous As You Knows. You'll get enough just by reading our articles on it, mostly, but...Tsukihime and especially Fate Stay Night are compulsory, I'm afraid, as the Holy Grail War (specifically Heaven's Feel) remains the backbone of the BMW. It goes into Fate Zero and Hollow Ataraxia in the later stages, but the game will fill you in sufficiently.

(I'm just shamelessly pimping BMW 'cause I can't find anybody to talk to about it here. )

Well, whether you like her or not remains to be seen, but...she a vastly more complex character than you're giving her credit for. There's much more to her than cooking and cleaning for Shirou.

Eh, she's a Yamato Nadeshiko, I am not even a fourth into Fate and I know that she'll either die for the player punch or become a Yandere, because Japanese Grimdark writers are predictable as that.

Of course, like any trope what matters is the execution.

Oh, sure, as I said before, if you look at FSN as a concept, it's not really different from your generic fighting Shonen series, what counts is how the concept is played with and executed.

For the record, I'm liking the execution.
