Type-Moon: Fate/stay night, Tsukihime, and Kara no Kyoukai discussion

I wonder if seven FGO servants are actually starter servants? Kinda like how Fate/Extra and CCC presents three-four playable servants you have to choose.

These seven FGO servants appear in the opening theme song except Emperor Berserker makes me think about that.

Man, ufotable does not disappoint. That fight was everything I wanted it to be and more. Although I don't recall Avalon triggering since it really shouldn't have worked without Saber feeding it prana. Still, I'm a bit surprised that it's taken this long.

It's supposed to be dramatic. True bonds and all that.

pfalz is doing great work, Darius looks baller.

Don't care, Avalon shouldn't be working. Unless that happened in the VN and I just don't remember it. In which case... fuck me.

Avalon was working for him in the VN, but they didn't make a big deal about it. Archer just went "Hm, he's still standing? Oh, I guess Avalon is probably doing a little something to help him. Weird, his contract with Saber is already gone."

Finally reading CCC's Gilgamesh route. Leo is suddenly funny. Why couldn't he be at all like this during Extra?

Yeah, from what I've seen, in CCC Leo and Gawain become actually funny (and perverted, as it turns out) instead of the smug aloof douche and his exaggeratedly clean and proper knight they were in EXTRA.

Hakuno agrees with you. Julius is dying inside to see him like this.

So even the characters in universe comment that they are not acting like themselves and Julius is dying inside from seeing Leo be a perverted goof.

...which makes sense, since Leo was pretty much created to be the Harway's perfect Messianic God-King, and Julius was basically indoctrinated into absolute loyalty to that idea, through both his upbringing and his promise to their mother. Seeing Leo be a doof would be a real world shatterer.

Like if King Arthur turned out to be a unprepared teenaged girl who was trying way too hard or something.

So...is there any reason they are suddenly acting like this, or is it just "it's set after their 'death' and their touching last realizations, so they decide to just throw everything out and be goofs"?

Leo sees it as a chance to relax away from everything like his responsibilities. He's never really gone to school before. Julius is stuck being the only sane person in the student council and has to act as Gatou's babysitter. He's not really completely different, but he's enjoying himself.

Oh, and the character development everyone got through Extra seems to have stuck in part, though they don't really remember it.

And hey, Tohsaka's third secret garden is all about how she's all submissive despite supposedly being all fiery and passionate and independent. I guess Nasu really does regret how he made the FSN heroines. Though given how everything in CCC is super sexualized she's mostly just a huge masochist here.

Or would be, if not for the whole "he dies" thing. A chance, however fleeting, to be free of it all and just be a goof because nothing is required of him must be tempting.

Trying to mold a "perfect king" out of a human is a fruitless effort. Humans will be humans.

Also, yeah, everyone subtly remembering things (and then actually remembering things) was an impression that I got, what with Gatou being slightly less of a insane goofball (...slightly less), Julius's complicated feelings towards Hakuno, and Shinji in general.

Julius as the only sane man of the student council sounds lovely.

Tohsaka is actually submissive? Huh. Well, that's something to flesh her out away from FSN!Tohsaka, who even though she gets flustered and dere-dere, I can't see her being out and out submissive at all except in the sex scenes.

Though at the same time, I can see why that'd be something she'd repress, what with being basically a key part of a struggling resistance against an all powerful new world order (though I guess it's currently a "current world order"). Even in EXTRA, she admitted her wish was basically to go home to Japan and have a normal highschool life where she can just sit on roofs and hang out with friends. In other words, her ideal life is basically that of a nobody with no expectations or responsibilities.

Heck, if you make the right dialouge prompts, she even admits it on both routes.

The masochist part just makes me go "oh Nasu" though.

The extended SG entry says she wants to be of use to people and assist them in their own desires rather than pursue her own. That really doesn't have much to do with what we were shown (which basically read as BDSM) but hey whatever, it's basically supposed to be like a person's Shadow.

Also, Kiara: Totally trustworthy. Definitely not using hacking to mind rape people.

More masochism, verbal this time. I uh really don't much care for BDSM and this doesn't seem like Tohsaka.

CCC gets really Persona-y it seems. Well, that and sex up the wazzo. I wonder what the game would be rated if it came over?

Though Tohsaka wanting to assist people in their desires instead of pursuing her own does seem like a good way to expand on what we know from EXTRA and to differentiate her from FSN!Tohsaka. FSN!Tohsaka wants to basically go forth and make a name for herself, while EXTRA!Tohsaka wants to help others (even if she doesn't want to admit it. After all, she does the "I'm totally not helping you, I just happened to be around/take pity on you" thing a lot in EXTRA.)

Also, it seems Kiara went to the Kotomine Kirei Institute of Trustworthiness.

The thing I learned from CCC is that Karna is the best. I love him.

Conversely, Jinako is the worst master ever. She basically won the Servant lottery and she still manages to lose.

Jinako is really unlikable, yeah. I don't think she's done anything that's either interesting or not entirely selfish yet. I hope Karna's explanation for why he thinks she's a great Master is a good one because she's a huge dick to him.

Karna being a horrible judge of character or having flimsy reasons to serve jerks seems like it'd be up his alley.

Though I am secretly hoping it's something silly like him secretly being into fat chicks or something.

But yeah, Jinako better have some hidden depths up the wazoo. Her being a selfish jerkass makes the "she lives and would have lived if this Far Side thing never happened" kinda a karma houdini deal.

If I recall, she never even fought. She basically sat in her Personal Room the entire time and lost by disqualification.

Well part of the reason Karna lost is that Karna gave up his armor to protect her.

Jinako: Worse than useless.

Well that's part of the reason she wanted the grail if I recall right. To make a wish to not be such a useless NEET and start over from when her parents died.

If she had more self confidence she'd actually be a decent hacker.

So basically, Jinako's thing is that she wasted her life and wants to go back in time and not waste her life.

Naturally, instead of doing this, she wastes her time in the Moon Cell hiding in her room and has to be bailed out by Karna, then wastes her time in the Far Side being a selfish jerk who won't even leave her room.

Good job Jinako. Really turning yourself around.

Sounds like a variation on the line "I'll do my best, starting tomorrow."

No sympathy.
