I'll stick to my original white unicorn. No skittle colors for me :P

Today, I had a ST run with 4 Ninjas in my team and some of them barely had 3000 HP. No guesses to what happened most of the raid.

Coil 1's turns 1-4 are much easier than the EX primals. My raiding group treat the first four turns as gear farms, to the point that I'll pug t1 or t2 (t3 doesn't drop gear) all by my lonesome if I'm bored. We're still getting our asses stomped in t5, and we've not attempted any of the EX primals as our full raid. However, I have cl...-Thinks back and counts-

I take it back, we all once cleared Garuda EX many, many months ago before we were ever officially a raid group. That ended up leading to some drama with the FC we (my girlfriend and I) were in, we got kicked with two other people, so we went off and formed our own FC with the rest of our now-raid group, did our own thing, and wound up surpassing the old FC in the goal of owning a medium FC house. Those turds had to settle for a small. Still makes me smile.

But I digress. Coil1, at least, far easier than EX.

Agreed. I've done T1-4, but T5 yet eludes me. The lack of a FC or static doesn't help. As for Primals, fuck Titan. I can do him, but I haven't because finding 7 other guys who can clear him is a challenge in itself.

I pretty much haven't even bothered to try the EX primals

I guess that's true. Still don't have the T5 clear since I've been putting it off, especially as I don't have a static yet, making it kind of pointless. I think I favor the EX primals simply because they build upon the HM primals, so it's more of a graduated curve as opposed to the sharp difficulty jump that is Twintania.

Maybe when I complete my i110 set I'll give T5 with DF another go. If only my rolls at ST could be better...

Most of my raid is geared in the upper 90s, but now with the uncap of ST we've been steadily skyrocketing up. Last time we tried t5 I was i94, now I'm i105. And we were already nearly able to kill the snakes in between the two sets of divebombs. Maybe we can do it now, as when it wasn't the divebombs roflstomping us, it was the snakes eating the fuck out of our tanks while we were trying to run.

And I'm glad to know that I'm not the only guy on here who hasn't cleared Coil1. Had me feeling like a real scrub seeing basically everyone I pug for ST in high allagan or better.

[up] Better than High Allagan? People have been clearing the Final Coil already O_O?

As far as I know, only Lucrezia has beaten the final coil at this point, and they're the maniacs who cleared T9 in i90 gear.

But there are i120 weapons available from Revenant's Toll. Costs more Poetics than anyone should be able to have at this point, though...

Don't let the Allagan gear people bother you. They're nothing but Bragging Rights Award because there's nothing worthwhile to gear up for.

Also, there's a group of players that already cleared the final coil using nothing but crafted gear with a fuckton of melded materia. Based on the "enlightened" folk on the forums, apparently Square "fucked up" for not tuning the final coil to be massively hard if some people were able to beat it in a few days.

Allagan gear looks really cool though :P

I also haven't done T5, and I have an FC and a bunch of other people I play with often. Just never seem to get around to it.

I don't mean complete sets of the coil3 drops or even the final turn's stuff, because I don't know what drops where, even on coil2 (and barely on coil1 at that; I have to always check a guide to see what turn to go farm for specific gear), but I have seen people, gone "dafuq are they wearing?" and inspected them to find an i130 staring me in the face.

Yeah, the coil gear is always distinct while the gear obtained from tomestones range from cool, meh, to What the Hell, Costuming Department?

I still have my upgraded soldiery gear with my robe dyed gold.

My Astrum is red and black. The Allagan DRG chest goes really good with the Divine Wisdom set, which will work as a stand-in for now until I get that damn chest.

(facepalm) One, fully melded crafted gear, while often considered "filler", is hella expensive unless you do your own spiritbonding, and there's very few people who can even make the new stuff yet. Two, the people getting these early clears are the specialists, the kind of people that can get world or server-first raid clears.

That said, there is a reputation to live up to. Titan EX, Second Coil and Final Coil were all designed by a guy whom the battle director (at a Fanfest talk) identified as "Mr. D". The devs have apparently nicknamed him "God".

>Twintania

How far are you regularly getting? I've cleared multiple times and even I still get caught by Twisters. But if you're getting at least to twisters more often than not you're in good shape.

I'm also using the Season of the Ninja to level WHM and I'm finding a small flaw in this plan: The daily roulette so far almost always puts me in one of the three starter dungeons. This doesn't give me much chance to practice using my actual WHM abilities and I don't have time to grind right now (I'm doing Na No Wri Mo).

[up] The group in question probably has several players dedicated to making their own materia and/or have people buying materia. Many active and/or large F Cs surely have the gil and dedication if they are that determined to succeed.

Ah, maybe I wasn't clear enough about what exactly I was facepalming, which was the idea that doing it in crafted gear makes it easy. And that's exactly why. It is in fact the only option currently for people wanting to gear up for early clears because the Dreadwyrm gear is limited by the weekly lockout and the Ironworks gear by the weekly cap on Poetics tomes.

Haha, twisters. No, we keep getting wrecked on second divebombs, because we either all get pasted into the walls or we succeed at dodging them only to have the snakes eat our tanks alive.

Divebombs are easy once you get a group in sync. You don't and shouldn't actually move that far when dodging them, just to the top edge of the hill, because if you move too far it will take too long to get back in place for the next one. If someone does get knocked out, do not run straight back. Run around the edge, and don't try to rejoin the group when a divebomb is about to happen. If you've been knocked out and are about to get bombed again...well it's possible to dodge but unless you're sure, better to take one on the wall for the team and let the healer sort you out when it's safer.

Snakes are basically DPS management, though I don't know that part from the healer/tank perspective. Throw a set of Do T on the small ones when they spawn, then the BLM should run Ao E while the rest focus the big snake. After divebombs when the other two snakes spawn, group them all up for a caster LB 3. The first two little ones should die, the other two should be almost dead and finished off quickly, and then it's a DPS race to get the big one down. If the tank is having trouble with the damage from the big snake they may need to stand in a neurolink early.

Good work. We're still waiting on the other two people of our raid group to get settled before we do any more hardcore content.
