I've actually given up on Garuda EX for the foreseeable future. Then again, I've only ever done it as the off-tank, where I just cannot do the whirlwinds bit. Maybe I'd be fine as DPS. Since there seems to be no point to EX primals other than grinding for whatever they drop, I don't think I care enough to make any serious effort at doing them all.

Glad to see you're enjoying the game Reneweal, but take caution if you do stuff like the Primal Extremes or the Binding Coil of Bahamut. There's lots of players there who do those runs with everything memorized and they will flip their shit if you haven't watched a guide online on how to do the fights beforehand.

I've succeeded at Garuda EX once. It took us nearly the entire timer and we went in with six (counting me) of our own people. We won with a minute left on the clock.

Though, now that I'm aware of them doing it, I can't be sure that all the previous fails weren't the result of sabotage.

Anyone else having login issues? Since the patch dropped, I've managed to get into the game exactly once.

Over the last few days? I've had no problems logging in. I was on this afternoon. I have had it crash a couple of times since the last update, which has never happened before that I recall, and I believe a couple of days ago some servers experienced connection issues, but I wasn't on when it happened.

The free login event may have contributed. I was able to login earlier today without issue though.

A couple of days ago I had trouble staying logged in for more than a minute or two at a time, but that's over with

Might be my location than - I'm overseas with very bad internet, but before the patch I could log in just fine.

It's really irritating that people who let their subscriptions lapse are getting in over a guy who's still paying to play the game.

I don't think it's really as clear cut as that. Pretty sure everyone is affected by the log in issues, regardless whether they paid or not.

I'm just saying, it's the influx of people who aren't paying for the game that are causing it. Call me entitled, but I would like to have access to the service I'm paying for over Joe Snuffi the free rider.

And I'd to be able to get tanks in duties that aren't dicks or brain dead speed runners, but we can't always get our way.

So, we're getting Triple Triad. How 'bout dat.

Never cared for the card game so I can't really say. All I hope is they don't add stuff to the mini game that everyone drops everything just to get, ala Hunts.

[up] On the other hand, Triple Triad is at best a two-player game (and likely will be implemented as a player-vs-computer game), which preserves difficulty. The problem with Hunts isn't that they drop rewards, it's that they're trivialized by the swarm of people hunting them.

Whereas a Triple Triad parlor you'd have a very good chance of random monster encounters, because everyone who remembers that will stay as far away as possible.

I quite liked Triple Triad, as long as that Random rule didn't get spread around.

As for the hunts, I couldn't help wondering why didn't do what they did with B marks to all hunt marks, only getting a reward if you have a bill for that mark. If you don't have a bill, you either get no reward, or only a partial reward. I also think if they did this that elite bills should be daily and not weekly. Maybe parties with a bill-holding member all get the reward too, since stronger marks would and should still need a party to take them down.

Servers are down sad. I hope it's just a malfunction instead of something malicious...

And I was right in the middle of coaching a DF PUG through Qarn for the first time! They were finally getting the rhythm of watching the Doom pads at Teratotaur while burning the adds...

If it's not one thing it's another, eh? Or at least it is at the moment if you play on Playstation.

Not that it's likely I'll be on today anyway, I'm back at work after a little over two weeks off. It sucks.

speaking as one of those free players causing login issues, hey, I plan to resub as soon as the free week is over :P

Just seems pointless to pay for game time until said free gametime is over.

am liking how much the game has improved since I last played at launch tho.

I just learned you could trade Allied Seals at Grand Company headquarters for myth gear -_-. I've been sitting on about 100 of them from Hunts with my FC, and been saving up Tomes of Mythology from the Duty Roulette to buy my first set of i90 gear.

At least I learned quickly enough. Just need to finish up the i90 accessories, and instead devote my Tomes of Mythology to getting Thavnairian Mists for my Zenith Relic.

I was more amused than I should have been to learn that. Cue me fully i90ing my DRG char in the space of a week, as opposed to the 2+ months it took to crawl from i49 to i90 on my WAR through CT gear first.

#448: Aug 26th 2014 at 1:07:23 PM

I didn't realise that right away either. Or rather I knew then forgot. It is trivially easy to get i90 that way. I mean, you need what, 300 or so seals for the full set? Probably a dozen hunts will get you around that, especially if you have bills. Join a hunt group and maybe get lucky, you could get your i90 in an hour, never mind a week.

Cganale Since: Dec, 2010
#449: Aug 26th 2014 at 1:23:58 PM

It takes exactly 190 seals to fully-gear left and right side. Counting of course that you can't possess two of the same myth ring. My Sunday night hunt group can get that in an hour and a half.

Yeah, it took me about a week of just doing the Duty Roulette for both Low Level and Story to earn enough Tomes of Mythology for just the robe and shorts for my WHM. And then today I go hunting with my FC and earn enough Seals for the rest. I kind of understand why the old guard is a bit upset about Hunts.
