Welp good news: I beat the story. bad news: well it has less brevity:
I decided to wait by going ahead and doing the Level 50 Black mage quest. however the boss required that I turned the PF off so I abandoned that and went ahead with the fight
I won got the garb and Flare adn then resume with the Duty finders...and landed in a speedrun. "Left Behind" was an apt situation. The rest of the party moved on in a manner that made me question whether or not cut-scenes should be skipped for parties with noobs and if 4 DPS guys are over kill.
Needless to say I'll probably not do the level 50 roulettes without a static party at this point. I may do some speedruns but if its someone needs help I will saw "Screw speed runs" and help them.
That reminds me are there any players on Exodus?

Wait, you nearly cleared the story before you'd finished your class quest?! Yeesh...
Anyway, welcome to endgame! You'll find people far less patient than during the 1-50 run around here. Your first point of order should be to grab some Myth Tomes and get some i90 gear from Mor Dhona. Along the way, grab as much gear higher than i50 that you can; I'd recommend unlocking the Crystal Tower, since that drops i80 gear that speeds the process along immensely, and is a fairly easy dungeon (and your first 24-man raid will feel awesome!).
You might also want to look into getting your Relic Weapon. It'll serve you well, as every major patch introduces a new upgrade for it.
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.I already got some odd- hundred tomes from the Beastmen quest (They cna be done before story's end, asw ell as the garlean Dungeons)
Also The Quest thing would had been a different story of "Operation Archon" started at 50 instead of 49,
I also accepted the quest for the Relic Weapon.
Crystal Tower is a major pain in the ass due to you having to work with 23 other players, 3 groups of 8 each.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Speaking of which is it possible to make it so that three raid groups (for Tower) can meet and join up before queuing (Like with 4 and 8-men groups)? Becyase I've been entertaining the idea of naming the parties after the summer triangle for this.
Not possible currently. You could form a party of 8 and join a raid that way, but the other 16 players are randomized.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order. They've wanted to put that ability in for a while but apparently keep running into trouble with it, it's currently supposed to go in sometime after the next big patch.
Also, Crystal Tower has a drinking game. This is best played with a team of mostly friends in voice chat.
...why is all the rum gone? *falls over*
Crystal Tower was fun in the beginning when it was new and everyone was learning. After people got all their loot from it or found something better, they quickly abandoned the raid, so now it's full of idiot newbies and trolls.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order. And myth farming. Don't forget the myth farming.
The raid in and of itself is cool, but most people I know overdosed on it to the point of being sick of it. The next floor of CT is coming with the patch though, so...
New trailer:
Highlights include Nanamo crying, a teaser shot of Ishgard, some dungeon previews (including tam-Tara Hard), Hunts and Ramuh

The new floors of the Crystal Tower look interesting. Have Zero interest in Frontlines cause I have PVP with a passion of a million burning suns.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Ooh, Coerthas is getting involved?
And Ramuh is voiced! Awesome!
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.And I just bought a subscription for 3 months (roughly)
So, I'm playing FFXIV on the PS 3, and I've got an issue with the interface.
Specifically, my Main Menu. All the options on it are working fine, but the leftmost and rightmost option are pushing off the edge of the screen, such hat they read as "haracter" and "System", and all the options within those menus are similarly cut off. Is there ay way to fix this aspect of my main menu, or adjust the amount of space each option takes up on the screen?
I have a message from another time...I had that issue as well, until I adjusted the screen size. Unfortunately I had to do that through the TV menu rather than the ingame one. I don't know if you can do that ingame.
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.Might be a monitor issue. Could try adjusting the in game display settings too. Make sure your screen's zoom isn't causing the cut off.

Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order. Also if its a resoluion try brinign it to max size, if that dosen't work, you can shrink the HUD elements by going tot he layout and pressing a key (I think it may be Tab)
Shrinking the HUD elements doesn't seem to reduce the size of the main menu, just the stuff on the main HUD.
Also, PS 3.

I have a message from another time...So the patch is coming tomorrow and I want to hear your hype for it.
Loving the new content so far, HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE how the Sycrus Tower WHM Helmet looks >.>
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order....I keep forgetting it's new CT time.
I'm out here in the boonies with a network connection that allows for no more than .05 Megs a second to download via the client. In the three or four more days it will take for this thing to update, hopefully it'll actually be playable so I can get back into it.
What's the ilevel on the new CT gear? I know I'll need to run it on my alts but if it's not over i100 or isn't accessories it's probably not worth the loot restriction for my main.
Yeah, PF is the way to go. Just tick the "slow and easy" and "storyline focused, no cutscene skipping" boxes.
