You'd be surprised.
I was struggling to deal even scratch damage on the level 50 Summoner quest. But it was because I still had some level 30 gear on.
I bought upgrades off the MB, and BAM! Suddenly, I'm doing enough damage to get past phase 1.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television. You do get an echo after each attempt, that said I did it on my WHM without needing to heal once although my Ilevel was like 190.
Gear is a pretty deciding factor, and sometimes if you're not close enough to the allied NP Cs then they won't heal you. However, I'm not really qualified to remark on it because I was i200 going in.
That quest you split up and got 2 guys following you to find the kidnapped people, both of which I do not think heal.
Running around finding those two before they die I expect is pretty hard for someone with say 145 I Level till you stack an echo a couple of times and know exactly where they are. It doesn't help that the Vault's map wasn't updated to show those new areas.
Update your gear when you can and stay in range of your allies so they can heal you.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Pretty sure I did not get an Echo. And yeah, the 'party' splits up, and neither of the two you go with heal at all, I think.
I'm i178 though, which isn't super low, I think.
I'm pissed off enough about it that it's probably going to be days, if not weeks, before I go back to it anyway.
I remember watching over the shoulder of a Black Mage. It's a fairly unpleasant experience for someone whose damage is tied to how long they get to stand still, especially considering that your allies don't consider you as 'in danger' until you lose over 50% of your HP.
So, better gear, more vitality, more HP, the sooner your allies will start casting cure.
Maybe they should add an iLevel to those solo instances if they're going to be so finely tuned. Or update the freaking map.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.I concur with the last point about ilevels. I've done it with my Dark Knight and Ninja (roughly i190 and i181 respectively), and I never noticed my HP get particularly low as either of those. I guess the extra HP and better physical defense of the Ninja makes a big difference.
And yeah, that's one reason it sucks as Black Mage, you have to stand still to deal damage (unless you want to spam Scathe), and I also realised that even if he's not immune to Bind, it won't help a whole lot since it's removed when the target takes damage.
I feel sorry for people who come to it late, and go straight from 3.0 to 3.1, since it seems unlikely that they'd be able to get up the apparent requirement of ~i180 in such a short time.
Ekimmark, what fish exactly are you trying to send your retainer for?
Whatever fish happen to be up for the GC deliveries that day.
Proof that there are far more fish than the retainers can retrieve.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.I usually just manually fish those. Look them up on xivdb, find out what I need and where they are, and go sit around for an hour hitting the same three buttons.
You left out the important part :p
I haven't had that problem as much in HW. Normally I get precisely what I need in short order, and some of the other stuff I get has other uses anyway.
Well, that's the thing. I'm not in Heavensward. I'm still levelling up Fisherman, and I still catch everything BUT the fish that I'm looking for, and would probably get the fish I need faster via the retainer than fishing for it myself.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television. But you also can't sicc your retainer on it if you haven't actually caught it yourself.
There are in fact several Heavensward fish that can't be gotten via retainer at all. It's also true that you can't send your retainer after anything you haven't gathered yourself. The other requirement is just your retainer level. If it's possible at all to send your retainer for something, it will be revealed when they hit that level, but it will prevent you from selecting it if you haven't caught it.
However, I suspect you are missing a time and/or weather requirement for the fish you're trying to go after. Let me introduce you to http://ff14angler.com - or tell me the one you need today because there's a decent chance I'd remember.

Yes. But catching it once and then sending the retainer out is better than catching three. It means I can spend my time doing something that isn't as RNG rigged.
And yet, I can't, because apparently, they can't catch even half of the fish that are out there.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television. The fish I could never send my Fishing Retainer out for were Five Elm Pecos, but today's delivery, Antlion Slugs, also appear absent.
Really, it seems like they refuse to gather anything that's in levequests. Maybe that's precisely why they won't gather them?
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.Ya know, you can buy leve and GC fish from the market board if it bothers you that much.
But in all seriousness, neither of those are hard ones. Check them on ff14angler and compare the catch rate between different bait and location.
You do not know fishing RNG until you've attempted stuff like branching chain mooches in a window that may last only a few minutes.
*shudder at the memory*

Titanic. Fucking. Sawtooth.
That is all.
Hmm...
What sort of Beast Tribes do you think they'll open up in the future? Amool Ja? Tonberries? The bugs are kind of a given, but I'm kind of hopeful for an imperial quest area, believe it or not.
Something that's big enough of a threat that imperial troops would rather work with you (although considering how they tried to move in on the end of Heavensward, that's going to be a pretty big threat).
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.I don't think that Garlemald is really keen on playing nice with Eorzea no matter the circumstance. But we don't know the primal for the Qiqirn, Mamool Ja or Gigas yet.
Meanwhile, new glamor I don't have a problem! I can stop anytime I want!

Moogles. Hide and seek every day!
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.
Trying to do the final duty of 3.1 as my Black Mage and it's fucking impossible. I can't survive the boss's attacks and the NP Cs don't heal.
What the fuck am I supposed to do? All I can think is to gear up, but solo quest duties don't ever seem to have to required that before.
