Seriously, though, I'd like to send Tats and all those other people who whine about "being totally oppressed!" and send them to live in someplace like North Korea or Iraq for a month or two, show them what real oppression looks like.

I mean, if he actually wanted to adress the issue, why not show some guy being beaten up and arrested out of the blue instead of showing us an actual crime?

People aren't buying what Tats is trying to sell. Obviously he cannot be at fault, therefore his failure must be due to the evil of Amerikkka and Capitalism.

Actually, the word "bondage" has a lot more meanings than the sexual one, many of which preceded that sense. "Serfdom" and "debt bondage" are two of them that describe types of slavery.

I guess people might be reminded of the sexual kind of bondage because of Sam's companions - and I somehow doubt that wasn't the author's intention; otherwise he wouldn't have put leather-clad women in the same strip as the words 'bondage' and 'domination'.

Yeah, it's a double meaning. The non-sexual bondage of the American People is being anthropomorphised as sexy-type bondage. Because that's not weird at all.

Tats is turning Sinfest into melodramatic, poorly thought out and constructed darkness and it's glorious! Only one question remains after all this. Why?

Why is America so terrible? Why is freedom dying? Why are there fascist stormtroopers dressed like policemen walking the streets?

Because the only thing Tats has shown us is that a guy that throws a Molotov cocktail gets beaten up and arrested. Why is that bad?

I have a request to make of the good people in this forum, in response to Certain Recent Events of Which We Shall Not Speak ...

Although I've been reading Sinfest for about a decade, I started reading and posting to the tvtropes forum only four months ago. As a relative newbie here, I'm sure that I will make observations and come up with theories that other people have discussed over the years. But I won't be rehashing old issues deliberately, so please bear with me — and if possible, please provide pointers to earlier discussions.

In addition, some of my theories and observations will be wrong. I ask that when I am wrong, you tell me how and why I am wrong. Believe it nor not, I will thank you for it.

I recently made an inaccurate observation, and both redmess and elfive enlightened me. And yes, I really do thank them for it.

It being worse in other places does not excuse it being a problem at home. That's a classic Logical Fallacy

I think that wasn't the point of the exercise. The use of "totally" implies that the speaker believes being more oppressed than that is impossible. The speaker's opponent simply wishes to provide overwhelming evidence to convince the speaker that the statement was incorrect.

I'm pretty sure that was hollow, derisive mockery, using a Valley Girl tone instead of an actual point or argument. To defend it with Exact Words like that is stretching. A lot.
