Maybe Tats has dug an ideological hole for himself he can't (or thinks he can't) get out of? Any new idea seems to clash with his ideology, and is thus dismissed?

I think it's more than any new idea: I think it's any new idea, any idea outside his ideology, and anything that suggests, however remotely, that he MIGHT, possibly be wrong in any way, shape, or form.

Definitely this! All that matters is whether an organism can pass on its genes to later generations. Tapeworms are just as "evolved" as peacocks or humans.

Anyway, what I was getting at is that Sinfest has evolved away from what made it worth reading in the first place. It has become so self-referential that Tats has run out of new things to say within the structure he's imposed on it. How many times in how many ways can he say that prostitution is bad and is caused by pimps, that all prostitutes are forced into the profession and hate it, that all "PIV cis-het sex" is evil and exploitative, that masculinity is toxic, that women would be just fine if men didn't exist?

Sometimes evolution reaches a dead end, in which the species can't adapt to a changed environment, can't survive ... and doesn't. Compare the Sinfest Forum today to what it was ten years ago. One fan has posted today's strip in the forum ... and there are no responses. Nothing. Nada. Ничего.

The hell of it is that Tats had some promising plot lines that he apparently has dropped: the relationship between Criminy and Fuchsia, Fuchsia's efforts to survive in the Reality Zone, a possible relationship between Criminy and Prudence Prostitute, Fuchsia's potential jealousy over Prudence and Crim, Blue's longing for Fuchsia, Blue's potential blackmail of Satan, Vainglorious plotting to take over from Satan, Vainglorious' strained relationship with his mother, Slick's struggle with Sleaze, the nameless fembots trying to become human, even Uncle Sam and Ms Liberty ...

And instead Tats emits strip after strip after strip of "Giant pimp robots are bad and oppress people, m'kay?"

That's the problem with ideals formed solely on the hatred of something. Eventually you just become static, unchanging and can't create something new because you've already said Everything you can about how terrible something is and how the world would be so much better without them.

So what is sleazes deal these days? It seems like he has just overwhelmed whatever it was between him and slick and just become own character in the real world.

Can we please see how slick is doing with this new development? Is he happier now that sleaze is off being his own thing? Has he achieved his goal of becoming a better person?

Who the hell knows since his bomfed imaginary demon side gets like a hundred times more screen time than slick does.

I don't think Tats really want to focus on Slick, since he's been phased out as the main character.

Knowing Tats Slick is on the floor, unable to move, starving to death. Because Tats hates him and men besides himself that much.

Tats really is reminding me of the villian of the Agent Aika anime Sage Reviewed for some reason.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sleaze will eventually replace Slick entirely.

Tats may be pulling an Anti-Hero Substitute here. I think he toyed with the idea for Monique too, but decided against it.

Even if Tats is going some light comedy here, even reusing Old Sinfest material, he's still being heavy handed in the tag line for the comic.

This again annoys me that he allows Monique to be such an asshole, but if Slick just does one little thing he's dragged through the mud and hell.

Well of course he lets Monique be a asshole and never get punished and anyone who calls her out is treated as a bad guy. She's HIM. So of course Tats is gonna let his author avatar be portrayed as in the right one hundred percent of the time. She's Basically his version of Chris-Chan's Selfinsert.

Here's my suspicion, with emphasis on how the current situation came to be:

I think originally Tats did do a self-insert: the trio of Slick, Criminy, and Squig — three aspects of his personality that could be viewed as Ego, Superego, and Id. Monique started out representing all women — his view of them and how he interacted with them.

But if Tats had a daughter who gave him ideas, such as the strips about menstrual cramps, then that would have caused a problem. If Monique represented his daughter, he couldn't make fun of her, and he certainly couldn't portray her as a slut. So Monique mellowed out between 2006 and 2011, and her sluttiness vanished.

Then his daughter got woke, called him out, and the Big Change happened. The rest I've said several dozen times already, so I'll stop here.

So you're suggesting that Monique, and by extension Xanthe, is his daughter?

Mind you, this is all wild speculation. Or do you know something we don't?

In that case....Tats is the ur-example of a Pushover Parent and raised a Spoiled Brat.

He might be a father, but he's also very reclusive. Tats has made several comics where he considers starving before going out to get basic groceries.

Entirely wild speculation ... based on what I can see of the themes and statements of the comic over the years.

For example, the menstrual cramp comics, starting in 2006 and continuing. Male cartoonists probably don't give a lot of thought to the agonies of menstrual cramps unless they are living with people who have them — daughters, girlfriends, sisters, or wives. Considering that there weren't any of these strips for the first six years, I'd say a wife is ruled out, so likely he had a new girlfriend, he moved in with a sister, or a daughter entered puberty.

And I think this hypothetical female person is not a girlfriend because she has become more and more openly and outspokenly lesbian. Perhaps she's a sister, but my money's on a daughter.

Statements? How about this? Or this? Or this? Or especially this?

(And on that last link, note the eyes. This version of WokeMonique has some amount of Asian ancestry.)

Whatever this strip is supposed to represent, it's failed horribly.

All I got from it is tats thinks America is the worst place ever.

But on a more positive note, idiocy of the strip being ignored, man he can draw some pretty pictures.

That last panel with the pimptron in the background shrouded in dust or whatever is really evocative. I really wish he was still sane. I'd love to see him do stuff that wasn't crazy propaganda.

Note: the only refugees clearly visible (as in "not faceless") are women.

I'm pretty sure that it's just a coincidence. Also, I'm pretty sure that today Pinkie Pie will show up and take me to Millennium City to be a superhero.

Okay, I was wrong. My theory a few comments ago doesn't explain what's going on. But I have a new theory that explains everything.

Tats is simply batshit crazy. He can't deal with the failure of his career, so he's blaming the Ultimate Big Bad — American society — for everything that's wrong in the entire universe.

After all, if there were any justice in this world, he would be hailed by one and all as the Super Genius that he obviously is, right?
