I'm more looking forward to seeing what else Harbinger ASSUMES DIRECT CONTROL of. That guy was the very definition of OH CRAP.
Given that both Sovereign and Harbinger have demonstrated the ability, I'm assuming it's something every goddamn Reaper can do. Which should make Mass Effect 3 very interesting indeed.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Oh man, imagine an entire mook squad suddenly taken over and turning the whole thing into a massive miniboss rush.
I'm getting images of Shephard and his squad running around on a planet, looking for vendors and possible quests and all that.
The player picks someone to talk to, and midway through the conversation— ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL. Not just whoever you're talking with, but everyone.
I've got two guns pointed west and a broken compass.Well, my bet is that this turns out to be the fatal weakness of the Reapers. When Sovereign took direct control of Saren, he went RROD when Saren's body was destroyed.
On the other hand, Harbinger only took direct control of the Collector General, and the General was then programmed to control other Collectors. That meant that even when an individual Collector died, Harbinger himself was safe so long as the General was unharmed. The second Shepard wipes out the station, Harbinger pulls a Screw This, I'm Outta Here.

...huh? When was this established? I must have missed it.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.It's all by inference.
Jonah FalconThe part about the Collector General being able to control other Collectors is Word of God (details about General was one o of the first things Bioware revealed in promotional trailers). Also, we see Harbinger directly take control the General, and the General control a Collector foot soldier at one point.
The part about it being a Reaper weakness is just Fanon on my part.
If Shepard becomes Indoctrinated by the Reapers and he tells his squadmates to program him to "sleep", I'm going to slap Bioware.
Jonah FalconI didn't convince Saren to kill himself. I told him he could still redeem himself, then he put a bullet in his brain. Geez, we could have helped you. The statue was a wonderful touch.
Ah dammit, now I read it again and wonder how I couldn't of thought that.
Yes, when I made the Paragon choice I was surprised. I thought he'd be helping us fight (kinda silly against a huge ship, but regardless!), or something, but then BLAM!
Yeah, even if Saren couldn't be saved, Shepard couldn't have known that. That's the difference between Paragon and Renegade — one's idealistic, the other's pragmatic.
It's not over. Not yet.Sucks that 90% of the "pragmatic" decisions are given substantially less weight by the fact that Paragons can achieve the same effect.

Or that most of the "pragmatic" options are plain-old "douchebag" options. I mean, the neutral and renegade options to deal with the Ascension are exactly the same, except if you pick renegade you're more of a dick about it.
"Go after Sovereign. If we have to lose the Council... it's the only way."
"Screw the aliens! They've done nothing for us! KILL! KILL! AHAHAHAHA!"

It's not over. Not yet.but being a dick is funny
"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." TwitterTouché, good sir.
It's not over. Not yet.Word of God is that the only reason it's called Renegade is because Colossal Dickasaurus was too long to fit.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Actually, forgoing to save the Council to concentrate on Sovereign is a perfectly reasonable tactic. It is a goddamn Eldritch Abomination leading the Geth, so succeeding to kill it with as much force as possible right then is probably much more important than just saving the Council and then failing to kill it anyway. If the surviving forces can't repel the Geth afterward despite killing Sovereign, there are other navies of different species that will likely be able to mop up their much more minor ships. But if you waste the majority of your forces to save the Council, you may never have enough numbers at once to take on Sovereign again anyway (And the Galaxy is DOOMED!).
Otherwise, yeah, Renegade Shepard is a dick.

@ch00beh: I surprisingly disagree ._.; I find it hard to do douche things in video games, unless they make it very very veeeeeeeery easy. Anyway, I was planning to do sentinel run with Shepard killing everyone he can, but I figured out that I can't bring myself to kill Rachni or the Thorian colonists D= So I will just complete quests in douche way xD(like giving Anoleis the evidence)
@ Vuther: I completely agree. I always go after Sovereign, even in paragon games, because it's the more sound tactical option.
Thing is, I use the neutral option, and Shepard says as much. "We need to focus on Sovereign, even if it means losing the Council." The renegade option, on the other hand, does the same thing, yet: "We're not sacrificing human lives to save the Council!" One is a reasonable response, the other should have got Shepard locked up.
@ Spooky: I can't do it either. When you get the same result, what's the point of choosing the dick response?
It's not over. Not yet.You clearly haven't punched the reporter in the face twice for being an ever loving hobag.
"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." Twitter^Thats not douche response, thats justice =P But seriously saying, I plan to do that next time xD But you know, its awesome to beat her verbally x3
You're right, I can't do it. I prefer telling her she's a gutless racist hack. :P
It's not over. Not yet.The Council is really a no issue in my games. It's survival is irelevant and inconsequantial. And not wanting to waste human lives saving it? why not? What have they done that deserves saving them? Morons...
That said, anyone notice that the citadel defense fleet had only 1 dreadnought and all other ships were cruisers? Even the human fleet had nothing bigger than a cruiser..
Even if they were easy to build, the human fleet isn't even allowed to have more than a handful of dreadnoughts due to post-war laws.

Not to mention that any ability to fight off indoctrination is temporary. Benezia, a highly trained psychic, could only do it for a minute or two. For Saren, it had to be like intentionally chewing glass.
