Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

That FF 13-2 Gilgamesh theme remix is awesome!
Indeed it is.
So, after waiting for what seems like forever and a half, I've finally secured myself a copy of XIII. Any words of advice from anyone who owns/has beaten it? General pointers? Potential Guide Dang It! moments to avoid?
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadThere's not really a lot of Guide Dang It! with regards to XIII. A lot of linearity and Lost Forever though.
Make sure you get all the Treasure Spheres the first go around, because you ain't coming back later.
Ignore XIII-2's existence, and you're fine.
Holy Grail, huh? Cool story, bro.Oh, you.
x3 DLC... for the 3DS....
That thing I wrote on the Kingdom Hearts Coded 2 page isn't funny anymore.
Ignoring XIII-2 is a good idea. XIII might have had some bad writing towards the end but aside from some of the characters in XIII-2 (Serah, Noel, Hope, maybe Yuel) all of the plot is really dumb.
Plus the retcons/literal Deus ex Machina-ification is annoying

Infinity......Theatrythm had DLC since before we made the Coded 2 page though. It's had DLC for like, a month or two now.
And yeah, the XIII-2 plot is pretty dumb. I like it, but then again, there's no accounting for taste.
Most of the Retcons were Deus ex Machina in the original, they just have a different reason in the sequel.

At least I could pretend it was all actually Heroic Willpower in the original.
Really now? Theatrythm had DLC for a while? Hopefully we'll get a Moogle!Lightning costume. Yuna did it.
Infinity...The DLC was announced before the game was released.
No costume DLC. Just songs.
It's a (Theater)Rhythm Game, why wouldn't they have DLC songs? Which, technically, would actually be extra levels and Bonus Boss fights?

I dunno, I'd just like cute chibified Final Fantasy characters you can dress up a bit better.
Infinity...I personally find the chibi style they used for Theatyrtrhfjgdfg's characters incredibly ugly.
Holy Grail, huh? Cool story, bro. They're adorable shut up.

Has anyone seen the FinalFantasyType-0 Gilgamesh fights? Because they're pretty awesome.
It's really great that he has plot relevance and a backstory now.

He's a bonus fight on a new game file though. And his role in the plot isn't too large, like the Loads And Loads Of Characters in this game.
Holy Grail, huh? Cool story, bro.Fight 3 was the New Game plus fight. The first two are main story.
And helping him with his sidequests and plot arc is necessary to get the Secret Ending.
Did I mention that that last fight is inside the Interdimensional Rift? And that it's implied he wanders through it to get to the world of Final Fantasy V afterwards?
Not the biggest role, but still. Bigger than anything he's been in since V.

I'm not sure if that's meant to imply that his time in Type-O takes place before V (which contradicts the backstory Sakaguchi gave) or if he's returning to the world of V/traveling through the Interdimensional Rift to go the other FF universes.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadWell, this Gilgamesh has an established past as a king for a long time, whereas the backstory of the original Gilgamesh was never even in the game in the first place. Besides, considering Type-0, I wouldn't be surprised if it was running simultaneously with every FF at once - a world repeating itself 600104972 does that to you
EDIT: Dat spoiler tag not workin.

Holy Grail, huh? Cool story, bro.You have an extra "s" for your spoiler tags, Absol. Never mind, you got it.
Yeah, true. Then again the backstory for Gilgamesh in V is so vague (even with what Sakaguchi said) that maybe you could fill in the blanks with what Type-0 discloses. Who knows?

"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadThe only Gilgamesh backstory in V that I remember is that he was a badass that single handedly slaughtered an entire army.
Otherwise known as "Monday" for the Type-0 Gilgamesh.
Wasn't there some backstory somewhere as Gilgamesh coming from a clan of warriors, and that the Genji equipment was bathed in the blood of a thousand battles, or something like that?
I have a message from another time...
Been playing Duodecim again recently. I think I just found the most humiliating situation to be in: getting Bravery Broken by Excalipoor. I did it to a CPU Lightning who'd just landed an HP attack.
