All right, let's discuss a name that can't be embarassing to the average male- Dawn of Souls.

Is it just me, or is this game, both of them, completely unreasonably easy? I just finished FF 2, and the whole thing was just a total chore. Battles are impossible to run away from, so I have to do every last one, and by the time I get to the Emperor I have four thousand HP on everybody. I mean, what? Why do I get the feeling that I should only have as many hit points as whoever my current Guest-Star Party Member is- and that the game would be a lot more fun if I did?

Dawn of Souls was INSANELY easy. You could beat FFI in the space of about an hour if you knew what you were doing.

Yes, the Dawn of Souls FFI was painfully easy. Unless you stumbled onto some of the secret bosses unprepared, and even then it was usually more tedious than difficult. FFII, on the other hand, loved sending me into battles with a bajillion confuse-spamming imps and didn't want to tell me how far I could go on the world map before randomly running into disgustingly overleveled enemies. It's not like this wasn't common in old RP Gs, but you'd think they would have fixed it in Do S, what, 15 years later?

I found Do S to be pretty fun compared to the awful games it was remaking.

Vancian magic is terrible no matter what anybody says.

Attacking the empty air after an enemy dies is a dated interface oversight that some very stupid people think is "a challenging gameplay feature"

The only time endless grinding is ever fun is when you're on a long plane ride and only because it's slightly more entertaining then staring out the window or rereading the newspaper for the sixth time.

The only thing I liked about Dawn of Souls were the extra dungeons. And if you think Chaos was easy then you try beat Omega and Shinryu.

FF 1 was easy. FF II was not. Especially when you veer ever so slightly off of the path, and promptly get your head smashed in by a bunch of ghosts. :/

Of course if you know what you're doing you could use said ghosts to buff yourself up quickly.

I wish someone would have told me earlier. :(

I have to say that I am female and I found the level of fanservice in X-2 to be offensive at times. This may be because I don't watch anime, so I haven't been desensitized to it, but if there are outfits like the truly disgusting one Rikku wears as her default costume, then I never want to, either.

And let's not forget the gratuitious hot springs episode and borderline-lesbian massage. I mean, really. I was trying hard to enjoy the game, but that stuff was really, really, really irritating to me as a female gamer. I want a serious female lead in a video game that doesn't rely on fanservice to sell the game, please. I guarantee you that gamers will still buy it.

Not gonna happen yet, sadly.

I...had no problem with the fanservice. In fact, I never really noticed it, save for the most obvious examples.

Then again, I'm gay, so...:/

I don't have a PS 2, So Yeah.

On the topic of Tactics A2, oh man Jugglers are awesome for Smiletoss alone. It completely subverts turn order when you can do ridiculous things like clear certain missions without ever letting the enemy take a turn. (There's a mission where you have to survive 4 rounds against endlessly respawning mimics. With 2 Jugglers and a little Time Magic backing up a battleclan with Illusionists, I completely mauled all the Mimics repeatedly, never giving them a chance to move even once. I also smiletossed to victory for one of the Bonga Bugle missions where you have to race to the VIP for an interview.)

Also, Blood Price Assassin with Elemental, White or Red magic. Spam Ultima then heal up when your health drops low.

As for the topic of good female leads sans fanservice, lol Iji.

It says something grindfesty about FF 2 when you train until you reach maxed level in Shields, then switch to the best shield(s) you can find and effectively become immune to physical damage.

Heh. Best combo in FF 2 is Maxed out Shield + Maxed out any weapon + nothing else.

I never played any of the PS 2 FF games: in the first instance, the dub of X rends my ears, and in the second, I have issues with the whole Saviour of the World as pop singer thing (which has been previously mentioned).

The fanservice is...a little obtrusive, but not half as annoying as essentially squeezing the characters into increasingly absurd outfits as a method of levelling up, which is what the Dress Sphere system appears to resemble.

Alas, no, my beloved PS 2 had to be put down a while back.

I've heard good things about it, though. I've also heard not so good things, so...what's your personal opinion?

FFXII has truly ludicrous outfits. PENELO has the most sensible one. And it's basically a rather short, very tight dress.

Vaan has a vest for upper body covering. Nothing else. Good thing he put a damn shirt on for A2.

Basch has a... diamond of skin peeking through his clothes.
