Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

I agree.
I'm quite confident in my shitposting you know
I would if I had one.
The only time I ever used one was in KOTOR 2. And I still had to be handheld through using it.
NGL, I don't mind some grinding. An additional 5+ hours tacked on that's just pure grinding, yeah I don't want those achievements that much.

#IceBearForPresidentAs far these things go, the Golden Chocobo grind is one of the least bad I've done in an RPG. It does take a few hours, but 90% of that time is taken up doing Chocobo racing and you can mostly just have the game play itself for those, so most of the time can be spend doing something else while glancing back over and pressing a few buttons every couple minutes.
Yeah. But I gotta kill Ruby Weapon anyway.
Knights of the Round would help with that but I'm more interested in grinding levels than grinding chocobos.
#IceBearForPresidentWell with Ruby Weapon, so long as you have a way to keep it stunned indefinitely you've basically won. Anything else like KotR just lets you end the fight faster.
Never did fight Emerald or Euby Weapon. I already had a Gold Chocobo, so Ruby's reward was a bit redundant. Emerald's Master materia was interesting bit I already had Master Command and was not far off from maxing each magic materia for its master.
Except I never got Master magic. Bothered the hell out of me as I had every magic material maxed.....until I found out that disc 3 introduced a new spell, the Shield Materia.....as one of the last items in the game. Yea, screw that noise.
-Witty line-Unfortunately not a lot of options for Play Station but XVI and Theatrythmn Final Bar Line are half off.
GOH! JII! RAH!Dammit this is when my purse strings are supposed to be tightened thanks to getting the God of War board game.
Bleye knows Sabers.I wanna ask something. I love Final Fantasy V and most of the versions I've played, I've loved. But does anyone think the GBA version translation takes too many liberties? I love it and I dont really mind it that much, but I wonder if anyone who played the game in Japanese or the more faithful fan translations might have a less positve opinion about it?

Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Anything is better than the trainwreck of the PSX version, and of course it was the first official localized version of FFV too.
-Witty line-The funniest thing about Moogles in the remakes is that Cloud is extremely weak to their cuteness. To the point temporarily turning into one has him be as hammy as possible.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Top Tier Game for me now.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here. That sounds about right
The translation took the not to serious tone and ran with it
Even though V like most F Fs is a blend
Like Gilgamesh and Exdeath both become much more serious after Galufs death… Exdeath lost his usual jovial exeberurance after galuf beat the fear of god in him
Granted I kinda get it Exdeath and a turtle engage in a dbz battle But if ff7 can have out of nowhere dance/ musical numbers V should be less meta jokey
I'm A Pervert not an Asshole! It was like someone took the Spoony Bard line from FF IV...and made that the entire script of FF V.
Disgusted, but not surprisedI feel like it in a way gives V which is otherwise fairly vanilla and comparatively forgettable story compared to what came before and after more texture and memorability then it otherwise would have when played truer to the text.
Even Woff never went full parody…
What would a ff parody/comedy even look like?
I'm A Pervert not an Asshole!Final Fantasy 7 ‘Machina abridged.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. The Hildebrand quests in XIV and some sidequests in VII Rebirth, certainly.
GOH! JII! RAH!The humor helps distract you from the fact that the V plot is just the heroes repeatedly failing their goal to save the day until the very end. FFIX took that same approach but played it seriously.
-Witty line-"Enough expository banter! Now we fight like men! And ladies! And ladies who dress like men! For Gilgamesh... It is morphing time!"
You cannot convince me FFV's translation wasn't great.
Bleye knows Sabers.thats just mean
New theme music also a boxIt is in reference to how people will react to the news. He is the Ralph Wiggum, not Squeenix.
Disgusted, but not surprised
Just use a save editor - we won't tell🤫.
Life's too short for JRPG grinding, tbh.
