Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

Sonic Chronicles was a mistake.
It has some pretty good/funny dialogue, though.
It definitely had potential and I do think that a Sonic RPG would ordinarily be a good idea, especially with the numerous complaints of SEGA wasting the secondary cast.
This song needs more love.I liked Sonic Battle, even though it wasn't exactly an RPG.
I don't think it's a terrible idea either, it would just need a bit of thought put into it is all.
When is Sonic Team going to get their Naoki Yoshida?
I agree that a Sonic RPG wasn’t an inherently bad idea, but Chronicles was...yeah, everyone else has already gone over it. I don’t know if we’ll get another shot at the concept after that.
Alright, back on topic.
Anyone here heard of Jun Akiyama?
No, but a quick google search tells me he’s some wrestler, so how is this on topic?

PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyWrestling is a big part of FF as a franchise. Remember to Suplex Trains.
True, but the guy I'm referring to is an event director who's worked on games like FFVII, Vagrant Story and the first Kingdom Hearts. Not related to the wrestler.

Neat. Why bring him up, though?
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeJust to show appreciation for his work. I mean, did you see how well-directed Vagrant Story's cutscenes were?
You like going on random tangents I noticed. They don't always make for good discussion.
Yeah, it's just that I'm bored out of my mind and can't find a good topic to discuss.
The beauty of Final Fantasy as a series can't be overstated, but I say VIII probablyhas the most beautiful, poignant ending of them all.
7 is like, "what the hell is going on?"
I haven't beaten 9 yet so I won't judge it.
Haven't beaten 10 yet either... and I got to the final battle of X-2 and spoiled myself...
11, skip. 12, skip.
13... eh...
13-2's ending was horse excrement! As was LR's!
Haven't played XV yet...
...hmm.
You know what, fight me. I still doubt there's a Final Fantasy out there with an ending more lyrical or poignant than 8's. There's something about that particular Final Fantasy that actually encouraged me to finish it that I can't quite explain. 7 I finished because my sibling had it and said it was "the best game ever made." And I loved that Fort Condor mini-game to death, let me tell you, but in hindsight very little of that game emotionally grabbed me. Not even Aerith's death, because I was a kid and the shock of that moment, her disappearance from the game itself wasn't some new, revolutionary thing for me.
But 8?
Just seeing Seifer, the asshole whose been nothing but an asshole for most of the game, go on a fishing trip with his friends? Laguna visiting his wife's grave? q_q

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!And just listen to this travel music. F'cking. Pristine.
I have this burnt into my head after spending so much time refining sh't in the early game before realizing I could do all of that mess later. Running along roads so I could "avoid" monster battles, searching specific parts of the map for monsters, trying to avoid that T-Rex monster in the woods.
Good times. Never had that much fun on 7 or 9's maps. And Tactics? Blegh. Made me feel like I was in the middle of a never-ending stack of paperwork.
The only other tracks that conjure so much nostalgia are Fisherman's Horizon, Breezy, 9's World Map theme, and X's To Zanarkand.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!8's a Love It or Hate It game in general. These days I see more people criticizing it than anything else, but the people who like it tend to be pretty passionate about it.
I've only played an hour of 8 but I found this scene while browsing and always thought it was kinda cool.
I like VIII though I certainly get people's issues with it. Disc 1 of VIII is probably my second favorite first act of any Final Fantasy game even (after IX).
This song needs more love.I for one like VIII. Its got its problems, especially in its translation, but it is still a hell of a lot of fun.
VIII has a lot of flaws but it still has a lot of good qualities. And back when I was younger I remember watching my cousin play it and being blown away that it was a game with an actual story. I can see a lot of the issues with VIII's writing now, but back then the only games I had really been exposed to were Mario games and stuff like Space Invaders, so it's story seemed pretty brilliant. Also I was in elementary school at the time so y'know, it's not like I was analyzing its story all that much. So I'll always have some nostalgia and fondness for VIII.
I just finished 9 recently, and that's got a pretty great ending.
Oh yeah. Especially the credits.
Soble, why did you skip XII?
Life is more fun with infinite MP.
Thinking like that always baffles me. They can hate Sonic all they want - I admit I'm not really all that big a fan any more, either - but, globally, every Sonic game still outperforms every single other Sega title.
This includes Persona and Atlus games.
I've been playing Yakuza 0 lately and it's incredible - it's pretty much how you do an open world game on a budget - density, not distance.
But I dunno if has the mass appeal to be that big.
