Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

How feasible is it to collect all the Fragments? There are a lot of them.... I'm sure I'll get more just in the "main quest" but I would assume many are optional and out of the way.
Is it a "you need a FAQ" kinda thing?
Thank you both for your responses though and .
Guess I won't be playing Lightning's DLC yet though.

The final fragment requires you to waste hours on the casino or be stupidl lucky. It's really obnoxious.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerThere are only like 3 fragments that are hard to get, they give you hints and totals per zone on them. The hardest one is getting 777 or a bunch of tokens on slots, I got it in a half hour though lol.
The Sazh DLC is not very spoilery so you could do that but leveling Sazh up as a monster in the early game is impossible as it takes the highest level crystals.

A guy elsewhere told me to get the Paradox Scope skill because I can unlock more story with it. Only FF Wiki tells me you can only obtain it by beating the game. Oh well.
I guess it increases replay value.
I don't really care about Sazh, I'll settle for mons. I haven't even gotten the ability to start using a "third party member" yet anyway. And when I can use monsters as part of my party, I'll just make up for their lack of personality with hats.

About the Lightning DLC, you can play it without spoiling yourself if you skip all the cutscenes.
Ehhhh, I would prefer to just wait. It's not like I actually like Lightning and really wanted her in my party. I just thought of her as superior to to a monster.
Maybe mons are more fun than I realized, I dunno. Like the actual game itself, I should give them a chance and I may very well end up liking them.
I do have one more question though. Right now, Serah and Noel only have what I guess you could call "Combat Classes." Or Combat Paradigms, whichever. Do they unlock the Support Paradigms from XIII like Synergist and Medic through the story?
I dunno, I just like the idea of Serah as a mage and Noel as a Warrior. I've been taking Serah all down the Ravager path while Noel went down Commando. I know it's still the start of the game really but I'm just trying to think ahead of how I'll develop them and I'll obviously need more Medic and Saboteur and Synergist to continue Serah's role as mage.
Serah by default has better magic and Noel better strength though that can be manipulated it isn't quite optimal. Noel also only seems like a better medic since he learns better spells but Serah's casting speed and higher magic make her just as good.
Basically Serah's primary paradigms are Commando, Ravager and Saboteur and Noels are Commando, Sentinel and Medic.
If you manage to get the DLC "monsters" Lightning is the single best Commando in the entire game and can kill the final boss in about 30 seconds if you've levelled her up since she ignores all defensive stats and just hit the HP directly.
Chichu of course is also handy
Oh and before I forget it when I fall asleep, happy 15th anniversary FFIX! Hope you get a remaster in 5 years!
We love you FFIX. ;_;
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerYou're all here talking about your final fantasy IX and XIII, while I'm just sitting here playing Final Fantasy.

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeHow about FFXIV? Alexander was released today, and I managed to clear the whole thing! Speaking of which...

A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in....wait. Wasn't Alexander already a dungeon in ARR?
I have a message from another time...Nope. We didn't even know he was the Goblin's Primal until XIV's pre-release info.

Nope. New to HW. He's the new hardcore raid, replacing the Coil of Bahamut. Well, the Savage Mode will in two weeks; the current one is challenging, but not overly so.

A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.Weird. I could've sworn there was something beforehand. People farming Light you can get from the dungeon to further enhance relic weapons (screw that whole quest, by the way. I'm never going to have the time needed to sit down and farm Atmas), or something. Huh.

I have a message from another time...That would be Alexandrite, a crystal needed to affix materia to the relic. Collecting the 75 required is the worst part of that quest chain.
Atmas were nerfed into oblivion when that section was introduced, btw. I spent months trying to get them all, and cleaned up the last 3 easy when they were nerfed. My sister, a few months later, was able to get all of them in only a few days. Not that there's much point in doing them now, except for glamour.
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.Then I will keep my mildly-shiny Omnilex and move on to other weapons.
I have a message from another time...You're all here talking about your final fantasy IX and XIII, while I'm just sitting here playing Record Keeper.
let's hope they can keep up with that "new dungeons bi-monthly" promise. Also I'm all for these events, but what happened to the survival and collection events? We've only had challenge events since Vanille, I think.
Wherever I am is wherever I will be. ...unless I'm lost.I'm choking on RK's inventory limits. Did an 11-Relic pull, and got a bunch of 3-4 star semi-junk, and now my inventory's full-up of 3-star or higher equipment.
I have a message from another time...I stopped playing Record Keeper. I got decently far, but the menu lag irritated me enough to make me stop playing.

Whole game, you can redo most of them too. If you choose the funny answers you get an item at the end of the place.
Once you beat the game the multiple endings appear, getting all the fragments unlocks the true ending.
