Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

I don't mean that all costumes are bad, simply that the mix of cute, badass and sexy may have suited the colorful mood of X-2 (there was a rather interesting mix too in that one), but it is Lightning we are talking about here. Not Rikku.
I'd take an issue if there were only sexualized outfits, but if they're only one option among many it's fine.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.The game's tone was like that too, The world is going to end in 13 days... wait I gotta taste test this experimental food someone made or find these chocobo ladies.
Agree
for every one of these◊ there is like 5 of these◊ or what I like to call the Rasler outfit◊ or the red mage◊
And all of the revealing ones, with the exception of the FF XI one◊, suck majorly you do not want to use them.

Yeah alright. Those are pretty cool. It reminds me of just how rarely I see women wear actual pants in Japanese media.
My personal fav, the Heartstealer, inspired by Locke from FFVI◊
also bouncer lightning looks really cool◊ She looks like she could be in the Turks, shame the black version of this is a butler outfit.
The costumes in the game are all across the board, there was even full samurai garb DLC.

Waifu culture is alive and well, huh.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.anime as a whole has become a lot more male-otaku centered in the last few years. that might be affecting japanese games now too.
It definitely has.
Look at how interesting and diverse Final Fantasy casts used to be - we had old wizards and monsters and just generally really colorful casts. Some argue VI didn't have enough time to dedicate to all of them, but considering all but the secret characters have at least one personal side quest to tie things up, I disagree.
Nowadays it feels like they're trying to hit a checklist of what appeals to otaku rather than provide us with interesting and memorable characters.
I would be extremely surprised to see the likes of Strago, Red XIII, or any of the Cids in the playable cast of a mainline Final Fantasy again.

We had a Moogle as a party member just a few games ago.
Which one?
Because if you're talking about XIII-2 he's about as much of a party member as the fairy in Bravely Default is.
Mog actually did things in the plot before the third act unlike Airy. :)
Of course being able to turn into a weapon helps keep you involved in the larger story.
This is not an approval, just an observation.

I sure said that!Airy was the plot-driving macguffin
I have a message from another time...though Free has proven that appealing to female consumers can be successful, yeah most companies can't really take the risk.
Who just nags at you after the first world until she reveals she is actually evil. For most of the game she just tells you to keep going and tells Agnes that they are doing the right thing.
Mog actually acts and has character development and is the cause of one of the funniest paradox endings due to his plans sucking.
So did Gravitation back in the day.
"Please crush me with your heels Esdeath-sama!Mog is also the best baseball/football/punchingbag on Gran Pulse. And can be re-skinned as a panda. All arguments against Mog are invalid.

PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyDon't have much knowledge of XIII-2 to be honest. It looked like a typical background, comic relief mascot sort of character from what I did see, though.
That one's on PC, right? I might actually try it for the hell of it.
You can tame a behemoth. And decorate it. With a bowtie. Or a wind-up key. Or a frocobo.
And instead of a chocobo inside of someone's afro, you can have a chocobo with an afro.
And Hope is the Emperor Scientist of Mankind for Life. And hot.

PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyXIII-2's soundtrack is also gorgeous. One of the best scores from SE in a long time; the XIII trilogy actually has my favorite music in the entire series, which is why i find it rather unfortunate that Naoki Mizuta, Masashi Hamauzu and company had their talents "wasted" on a subfranchise that is highly divisive at best.
The greatest song in the history of the franchise, courtesy of XIII-2:
You are objectively wrong.
"Please crush me with your heels Esdeath-sama!

I loved that one of the unlockable fragment skills gave you the power to change what song played on chocobos so I could play it all the time.
God, I want the entire trilogy on PS 4.
To be fair, LR also had badass/funny/cute/classic garbs also among its 90+ different ones(hell, pretty much all the sexy ones are bad statwise). My endgame set was Lightning's upgraded starting outfit she got from Hope, the outfit worn by the hunters in the forest and a cloak that wouldn't look out of place in Tron.
In other news, Record Keeper is out in the west after huge success in Japan:
