Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

Was Genesis really that bad?
God yes. He was basically a sephy clone who quotes pointless poetry as his only real character trait.
Nearly every single problem with Crisis Core's story note can be traced directly back to Genesis.
Honestly the minute Angeal dies and Zack makes First, the whole story starts deteriorating past "goofy but still kinda cool" to "please god make them shut up" when the focus shifts to Genesis. Been watching a guy do a screenshot Let's Play, and it really is jarring how suddenly everything starts falling apart.
He's unsympathetic when the story is clearly trying to make him tragic, his motives are poorly defined half the time, he's annoying as all hell with his fourteen year-old girl Livejournal readings, he eats up screentime that should have gone to more interesting characters like Zack and Sephiroth and pretty much everyone else, leaving their own plot threads and development feeling rushed, and he was constantly shoehorned into scenes he clearly had no place in.

MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistHyperdimension Neptunia Victory II has a few parody characters based on game companies. This is Square Enix:
Edit: Oh, and the SE music on Europe iTunes is starting to come back now.
Edit2: SE are now making arcade games.

I don't think Genny would be so bad if he didn't quote that damn poem all the time.
Genesis was poorly implemented, just like a lot of stuff in Crisis Core. He was just so much more poorly implemented than everything else so as to drag the entire story down with him.
MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistSE are releasing a(pretty good)episodic game called Life is Strange which has this easter egg in it.

Japan only?
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Nope, it's up on the European store at least.
"If you are going through hell, keep going." - Winston ChurchillI'll get it. When it's all out.
I'm Genre Savvy when it comes to these games: the story suffers when you play them so far apart.
And praise to SE for publishing this game when so many others refused it. Though it probably wasn't the main Japan branch.
Now, when's the DLC which replaces all the characters with Genesis?
Cat Cam.
Playing FFX HD, my first FF besides about a third of the very first one.
Man, fuck Seymour. I've died during this fight like, three times now. :/
If it's the first fight, get Slow or Slowga, take out the Guado Guards first and take advantage of the Nul spells with Yuna once you know the pattern of the multiple Aga spells.
“I was thinking that work is like fertilizer in that I’m glad it exists; I just don’t ever want to get stuck in it."Don't really have the option of getting Slow or Slowga. I'm planning on using the Nuls once I get to his third phase again.
Figuring out the Nul Spells' usefulness against Seymour, when I previously never thought they'd be helpful, is one of my proudest gaming moments.
I think that may be the moment that I got JRPG fights.
Does Kimahri have Stone Breath?
Life is more fun with infinite MP.Yes. I had just assumed it wouldn't work on Seymour.
Either way, I beat him.
It works on his cronies.
Life is more fun with infinite MP.His cronies are like, the easiest thing to deal with though. Rikku only has to steal from them once to keep them from healing themselves, and a couple good hits are all it takes to get rid of them after that.
The tricks to beating him were using the Nul spells in his final phase (which I did not figure out on my own), and summoning an Aeon to Shield when Anima was about to go into Overdrive (which I did).
"Hmmm, maybe if I steal from them once, that will stop their endless supply of potions." ...is something I never would have thought of on my own.
Granted, I didn't think to have Shiva heal herself by casting a spell on herself, which seems obvious in retrospect, but still.
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.I didn't really think of it on my own. I just discovered it without having to be told.
Starting a fight by having Rikku steal everything that isn't nailed down is standard operating procedure for me. If you're stealing from them anyway, it doesn't take long to realize that's how you shut down their auto-healing. :P
I wish there was a modern main series game where there's actual classes in-universe.
You gotta start somewhere.
Well, that was a bad thing for a page topper.

If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.
