The Wastes is one of the weaker areas. Then again if the mounts were faster it wouldn't be as much of a concern.
Because the Hissing Wastes is nothing but a terrible place. Full of hissing... and wastes... and terribleness all over. That and what said.
Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets.Everything in the Hissing Wastes is like level 19. How is that one of the weaker areas?
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."I meant poorly designed, not underleveled.
Ah. Well, I dunno. It has a certain charm.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Yeah, I don't dislike the Hissing Wastes. It reminds me of Ash Lake even, and that place was cool. I just think the wideness made traveling for shards a little painful.
I just found it a weak area because there isn't much going on really.
The article I linked does a good job of why that's exactly what makes it so appealing.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I'll probably skip it on subsequent playthroughs, but man. It was really nice the first time.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Skip the Wastes? Not with that shop down there.
You can probably get most of that in the Black Emporium, now, though, can't you?
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."No. The armors I actually want are only available in the Hissing Wastes. The Black Emporium gives you different stuff that only raises defense. Plus the BE doesn't have armor upgrades.
EDIT: I collected all the shards!

Nope. Black Emporium has higher tier armor, but they have the same model as the base Armor, while the HW Armor, the top tier of the base game, have unique models.
Also, like mentioned, BE doesn't have Armor Upgrades.
I finally have the Inquisition platinum trophy!
Since I take it you've beaten the game on Nightmare, Melon, which approach would you recommend? Taking on main quests as soon as you can, so they're at the low end of their level scaling, or being a completionist and over-leveling yourself?
Panhandling sign glued to hands. Need $5 for solvent.I personally like over-leveling myself before story missions. I beat Nightmare with a Tempest Inquisitor, so for bosses I used Level 3 Thousand Cuts to kill them fast and went with Flask of Fire+Leaping Shot spam at all times.

JOH is up on PSN. What's the recommended level?
I just killed the Sandy Howler on Nightmare twice. First with my attack focused Knight-Enchanter and then with my 100% Critical Chance and 81% Critical Damage KE. I wanted to see which build did more damage overall and I have to say, averaging +4000 on the Sandy Howler's guard with each Spirit Blade is incredible for the crit build.
Sandy Howler???
Hissing Wastes High Dragon.
That one is annoying. Not particularly hard, but annoying.
Why's that? I didn't find it particularly bad.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.The last time I killed it it wouldn't stay put. It would leap from one end of the huge thing to the other and at one point it got stuck and I couldn't properly attack it, so I had to restart. So, it was annoying.
Plus she summons mobs to attack you with. I think every endgame High Dragon does that but it's so dark in the Hissing Wastes that you may not be able to see the mobs properly.
Because the Hissing Wastes are an awful place and they want you to die.
