A Long Time Ago, in a Galaxy Far Far Away...

The Empire has fallen to ruin, after the destruction of the Second Death Star and multiple victories claimed by the Rebellion the once galaxy spanning Empire has become a husk of its former glory. However what finally brought it to ruin was not the defeats, but the financial destruction caused by the various defeats. Without the Emperor around to keep control the galactic banks lost faith in the Empire and began to withhold key supports from various important planets, allowing the Rebellion to finally reinstate the Republic and bring order to a galaxy once caught in the thrall of evil.

However with the death of the Empire comes concerns for the newly reborn Republic, not just of the various Empire holdouts but of the same banks pushing the Empire's own debts to the forefront and destabilizing things once more. In order to prevent this the Republic has put together a group of highly trained individuals to help deal with this burden by tracking down Imperial holdings and ships left behind after the Empire's fall and turning them over to Republic holding so they can be disassembled to their basic parts and resold in order to both boost legitimacy and repay their debts. These agents are dubbed members of the Republic Department of Reacquisition, less formally known as 'Scrappers'. Each one has authority to repossess any Imperial ship, holding, or officials, and in return a hefty commission. However they are held to a certain amount of suspicion by the recently liberated worlds, and always hunted by Imperial loyalists wherever they go.

Its a galaxies worth of adventure and danger for any who dare to go out, but the payout will be worth it in the end.

______________

Quick Info

Jedi exist in a sort of weird area of the current era, with Luke Skywalker only recently opening an Academy and welcoming those Jedi scattered to the galactic winds by the Empire they are few and far between, either seen as heroes who will solve any issue, or treated with suspicion after the brutality of Vader and his Inquisitors.

For the purposes of the RP please have your characters have the ability to speak common, other languages are fine but that is a base requirement.

This story takes place in an alternate timeline following the sixth movie, and will not lead into the Sequel Series. Not out of any form of hatred toward the movies but in order to not be bogged down by canon anymore then needed.

  • Name: Oeya Claži
  • Age: 23
  • Race: Twi'lek
  • Profession: Jedi
  • Skills:
    • Force-Sensitivity: Naturally attuned to the all-encompassing Force, Oeya has become moderately adept with precision telekinesis and life-force sensing, able to detect living beings for up to a mile's radius when meditating and 200 metres when merely concentrating. She is capable of lifting a fully armoured man with relative ease using nothing but her will, and can push, pull, and manipulate objects of similar weight and size with about the same amount of effort. She struggles somewhat with moving larger objects around, but comparatively excels in precise and difficult manoeuvres with smaller objects. She is also able to enhance her own physical feats and acrobatics as an extension of her telekinesis, but this is considered a necessity for learning proper lightsaber technique to begin with.
    • Fighting Style – Form III “Soresu” / Tràkata Hybrid: In lightsaber combat, Oeya favours a more passive and defensive fighting style, similar to that of her idol Obi-Wan Kenobi. Inspired by the teachings of Luke Skywalker in reminiscence of his late mentor, Oeya has also chosen to fuse this style with the more tricksy Tràkata style—a somewhat controversial practice due to its reliance on deceptive manoeuvres. Nonetheless, this enables her to skillfully switch off and reignite her lightsaber blade at calculated moments during a battle, which can throw off her opponent or allow her to perform swift and elaborate manoeuvres otherwise impossible with a constantly lit blade.
  • Weapons:
    • Lightsaber: A standard lightsaber with a green-tinted blade, with a funnelled silver hilt and a grip wrapped in black banding. It is very rarely seen ignited outside of active combat due to Oeya's personal philosophy, and its relative lack of use can be seen in its near-immaculate condition. Oeya keeps it holstered in a simple leather loop hooked onto her belt.
  • Personality: Oeya is a serene, peaceable type who emphasizes spirituality over any form of conflict, and prefers to meditate in the hidden quiet spots of any given location rather than actively seek out excitement. Still, she possesses a strong urge to assist others and a heart perhaps too big for her sense of composure to keep a hold of, and she so despises conflict to the point of becoming increasingly distressed the longer a fight drags on. It is for this reason she tries to keep her battles as swift and painless for her opponent as possible, both psychologically and physically, and often cradles those in their final moments as best she can whenever she has the opportunity to. Though perhaps not as collected as an ideal Jedi should be, and vulnerable to her own despair, Oeya undoubtedly has the heart and courage that can fuel her to greater feats of goodwill in the future.
  • History: Born on Ryloth to the Laži clan of Twi'leks, Oeya was taught to attune herself with nature from an early age and allow the environment to guide her over any other calling. Unwittingly drawn towards the will of the Force during her meditations, the young Oeya was compelled to follow the path of joining the newly reestablished Jedi under Luke's tutelage, and soon began preparing herself in order to head offworld once she was of age enough to do so. Having undergone training enough to be considered a worthy Knight, the freshly-promoted Oeya has turned her attention towards the needs of scrappers amongst the Republic, and has elected to join their specialist group in an effort to widen her net of assistance throughout the galaxy. That, and she is incredibly eager to use this opportunity as an excuse to explore said galaxy with her new colleagues.
  • Appearance: A young Twi'lek woman of around 5'8" in height, in good shape thanks to her training and active lifestyle and often preferring to dress in lightweight, traditional attire from her clan instead of the usual Jedi robes. Pink/purplish skin and with eyes to match, difficult to miss in a crowd. Possesses a vestigial third lek tucked between her larger lekku; a birth defect that makes them even more sensitive than they would typically be.
  • Etc: May or may not have scoured the Republic records for information on the relatively obscure Tràkata techniques. She also may or may not (if she may have done) told any of her masters about it, which may or may not be still a source of guilt to her today. Maybe. Or maybe not.

Name: Gunn‘seca

Age: 137

Race: Shi’ido (Disguised as a Twi‘lek)

Profession: various small jobs or studies, Internal Security Branch (Empire), Security Advisor (New republic)

Skills: Lockpicking, Empire security systems (expert), general security systems (skilled), Forgery (basic), Trained weapons expert in assembly and average in use, Skilled melee combatant, Infiltration, Skin-shifting, minor telepathy

Weapons: E-11 sniper rifle (salvaged), scrap-made stun spear (shock baton, on a stick). Partial stormtrooper armour (salvaged).

Personality: Gunn has a cheery disposition to her compatriots, treating them very nicely even if it’s only been a couple of hours since they’ve met. Though the secret of their species puts a wall between Gunn and anyone who would be getting too close to them, on the other hand they treat those that they’ve told as part of their family showing surprising loyalty towards.

Gunn doesn’t mind killing a trait she’s picked up while serving the empire, while preferring to avoid having to do so, they guard their secrets and being found out is a strong motivation to silence the culprit.

Their personality can change depending on the creature they disguise as.

History: Gunn comes from the planet Lao-mon. Their reason for leaving the planet for the wider galaxy was to guarantee that no information would be spread about their existence. Taking on the form of a human male with a stoic personality, taking the name of Gunn Hopper. Working for the Empire’s intelligence and making sure that any records about the Shi’ido were destroyed. With the destruction of the Empire, the threat to their species was lowered. Changing gear Gunn took a upon themselves a simpler job with higher pay now advising Officials, companies or the Rich on security. Soon enough Gunn got bored with this vocation, adding a fear that they were being investigated due to their ties to the late Empire, and their current popularity. Gunn faked their own death and turned to scrapping under the name of Gunn’seca, an extrovert Twi’lek.

Appearance: Gunn is currently disguised as a female Twi’lek with washed-out orange-brown colouring. Their clothing is mainly sourced of things scrapped from the Empire such as weapons and armour. Their preference for casual wear is looser clothing, usually meant for Mechanic jobs including tools making a wrench, screwdriver or a roll of tape always near enough to throw at anyone who annoys them enough to deserve it.

Etc: Theme: TBA Tense around force users due to their uncanny perceptiveness

Will this be Legends or Canon continuity?

I believe it's Canon, but with a tweak i.e. the economic collapse of the Empire after the second Death Star got blowed up real good. Not familiar enough with Legends to speak to that, though.

Name: Larkel Chieg

Age: 27

Race: Human

Profession: (Smuggler, Pilot/Escape Flyer,/Gunner, Shooter, Semi-pro Shockboxer)

Skills: (Flying, Marksmanship, Criminal Organizations, Hand-to-hand combat)

Weapons: An EC-17 hold-out blaster, a long and short vibro-knife, a DC-15A blaster carbine, and a BH-4 Double Blaster. Her gloves are also rigged to emit a shock for a moment or two.

Personality: The first thing she loves is flying. Being free and outwitting someone else with just your reflexes and the ship you’ve been fixing up is the best thing in the world. That being said, the ability to visit different places, see amazing sights, and generally see the wonders of the universe is a close second. And if she gets to wipe some Imperial blood off of her hands at the same time, it’s a bonus. Moze is her priority in a dangerous situation, and her love for him taught her to hate any type of cruelty or slavery, and his trust makes her even more ashamed of her past as a TIE pilot. Paradoxically, she’s also deeply sympathetic towards any former Imperials she meets, since she knows how hard it can be to redeem yourself. As for Jedi? They’re just a weird rumor, like space whales and Lando Calrissian.

History: Growing up, Chieg touched the ground on a planet perhaps once a month. Her parents were haulers (and occasional smugglers-did it matter if not every bit of cargo was on a list somewhere?) who seemed to be constantly on the move. The Empire didn’t bother them too much because they sometimes carried Imperial items, and Black Sun didn’t ask for protection (very often) because they had Black Sun merchandise in their hold right next to the Imperial crates. It was a fun life, flying around in the old Dancing Comet.

They even took on live cargo at times and humanoids (though never slaves. She’d only seen her father get angry a few times, and once was when a slave trader wanted to hire their ship) As the years went on, she learned more and more about flying, shooting, and even identifying different starships at a glance. For half a year, a traveling shockboxer hired the Comet as transport for their current title run, and Larkel spent all the time she possibly could throwing punches in the cargo hold, sparking in the young Human a lifelong interest in the sport.

A few days after her nineteenth birthday, the young woman decided to join the Empire, reasoning that it was about the only way she’d be able to fly without looking over her shoulder for some enemy. Larkel’s skills and drive pushed her to become a captain in a TIE Squadron and then to fly everything from a bomber to a TIE Aggressor. The pure freedom and thrill of space combat was such a rush, and at first, the steady loss of pilots made the whole thing more dangerous. However, that same grind of people and ships wore her down, as well as the increasingly brutal and callous orders they received.

Two years before the battle of Endor, she decided she had to get out. Planning carefully, she arraigned to be stationed near Dantooine, then ditched her group, simulated engine damage thanks to a gang of pirates she’d hired, turned off her transcoder, and “crashed” it into the wilderness. Unfortunately, that group of pirates, who were also working for Black Sun, followed her down and decided that they needed her ship parts more than she did. After shooting down their fighter, she set down and managed to kill and drive off the rest. Taking a bold chance, she skipped the usual care introductions and landed her ship near the Rebel base she’d been planning to join. After a short time being interrogated by Rebel intelligence, she was cautiously allowed to help with small flights around the planet, As the months and years went on, she was given more and more trust and missions, until she was one of the most reliable “odd-job” fliers of the local Rebel network, and even had the chance to shoot down a few wayward pirates who’d come sniffing after her friends. It was during this time that she also met Moze, a massif pup that was being trained for security work, but had been discarded for being too willful. She had an instant rapport with the little fellow, and from then on they were inseparable. But her wanderlust and need for adventure kept pressing her onwards, and so she volunteered for the commando raid on Endor. She was turned down. Larkel knew she’d never be completely trusted by the Rebellion, and so the young Human started looking for some way to prove her loyalty….

Appearance:TIE pilots need to be lean to fit in those flying coffins, and she's worked hard to keep herself in shape. C Olive skin, dyed and cropped close blond hair (unintentionally looking a great deal like the old clone troopers in a way) usually streaked with oil, the dull orange boots and gloves of a flame trooper, and a fancy gray-green tunic and fur-lined jacket with a few hidden pockets.

Etc: She’s always accompanied by an unusually large and intelligent massif named Moze. Their connection is very deep (perhaps some vestigial, small Force ability?) and they can usually communicate wordlessly.
