The Amazing Digital Circus

Welcome one and all to the AMAZING Digital Circus! Brought to you by the same studio that are making Murder Drones and helmed by the surreal web animator Gooseworx, The series seems to have all the wacky nonsesnse and terror that comes from Goose's other works combined with the professional 3D animation from industry veterans! It is described by Goose herself as a fusion of I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream with the aesthetics the I Spy series of books and shows.

The story stars Pomni, a girl who wakes up in a bizarre digital world along with 5 other humans, with no memory of her real name and wrapped into wacky adventures and oblivious torture by the AI and Ringmaster, Caine. While trying to come to grips in this strange bizarre world, its quickly pointed out there's no known way out, and the other humans have also been captured ages ago. Can Pomni and the others escape before the world drives them mad?

Personally I'm super excited. Longtime Gooseworx fan, they have a great mixture of comedy and creepy, and has very memorable music tracks as well! I'm sure its going to be a real splash hit. Also special shoutout to the voice of Caine, Alex Rochon, who I subscribed to waaaaay back when he was still making Top 10 and Countdown videos before he went pro.

One thing I can say off the bat is I love just how energetic the animation is. It's better than some cg shows put out by major studios. The characters are also pretty fun and it overall sets up the tone of the series well.

Short by just a few minutes, dang. Ah well. Just finished the episode myself. I know it was marketed as a dark comedy from the get go, but some sections seem to branch out to flat out horror. Which is great! Day 1 and we already get some wacky mishaps and crippling existential dread, as well the horror of what happens to those who don't comply with the madness

In my eyes, it was something unlike most series on the channel.

It seems that when the tagline said that "[...] everyone was a jerk", that was an exaggeration.

IF you mean the "Toy Story ecxcept everyone's a jerk" tag, we'll have to see how the characters develop. Ragatha is nice now but her character could detiorate over time, especially since Pomni ends up ditching her not once, but twice. Jax and Zooble are already in jerkville, Caine already he's willing to hide secrets from others, Kinger is barely hanging in there, and Gangle seems clinically depressed. For now the most prevailing tone is the initial pitch, which in goose's on words was I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream with I Spy aesthetics.

Someone noticed that there were 5 doors with x's on them, seeming to relate to abstracted characters. We got a dog, a worm on a string, a queen chess piece, a purple creature, and another jesterlike fella with a green and blue orbs on their hat.

EDIT: Since this post, I found 2 others: a blue floppy-eared creature and a sad looking clown

The fact two are clearly counterparts to “current” members makes me wonder if there’s always a counterpart that follows. Like how that one is clearly a Queen to Kingers King, or the sad clown to go with the (former) happy looking clown.

It honestly seems to me that maybe something might have happened to our characters such as Pomni. I have no idea why but I feel there are some sort of troubled past that happened with all of them before going in the digital world. That what I think anyway.

It's ironic that Pomni has forgotten her name, given that pomnit' is the Russian word for remember.

So it seems I may need to update the initial post I made on this very thread: Gooseworx confirmed herself that Caine isnt an evil ai, just oblivious and not quite grasping how humans work. Which makes the premise even MORE fascinating as Caine is truly well intentioned, then we have no idea if there is even a big bad at all as of yet.

Going to be real Caine doesn't seem like a very bad guy if I have to give my thoughts. Yes judging from this post he isn't the type who knows the full extent of humans. Not a bad guy despite being the antagonist/obstacle.

...So Pomni went to the Backrooms?

So are we all in agreement here that this is 100% going to be a SOMA situation?


By which I mean the headset that "brought" the performers to the circus was actually scanning their brains, after which they presumably continued going about their lives completely unaware of the hell a digital copy of them has just entered?

I like that theory, but I also think this could be a Year Inside, Hour Outside situation. Theoretically, from reality's perspective, the very second a human puts on the headset, they could have already been in the Digital Circus for years, and any observers would barely have any time to realize anything was wrong.

Gooseworx also has tumblr and Twitter where she sometimes answer stuff about her work. She said there will be no romance she doesn’t care about ships but doesn’t mind them as along has the fans behave.

Also Jax is 22 and so is Zooble but zooble is a year and a half older.

Also gooseworx said she designed jax to be irredeemable and will get worse as the series goes on.

Also Ragatha is the 2nd longest person in the circus after Kinger.

I'm already not fond of how mean spirited Jax is, and if he's a Jerk with a Heart of Jerk...Here's hoping he lands in Love to Hate instead of The Scrappy.


For me the biggest hint in this direction is the ending scene where we zoom out through the void to a computer monitor where you can see a VR headset sitting on the table next to it. The same room shows up at the end of Kane's false exit, and in both cases there's nobody wearing the headset, which to me indicates there's no physical body left behind in the real world. To me that suggests that:

1. The headset physically transported the humans trapped in the circus into the "digital realm". So far we haven't seen the kind of overtly supernatural elements in this setting that would make this seem plausible.

2. Alternatively we have the aforementioned Brain Uploading theory.

Animation industry vwteran Kevin Temmer shows off some behind the scenes looks on how he animated the characters, a few stuff on the cutring room floor, and even an alternate intro he sang personally as a test.

I was surprised to learn that Elsie Lovelock voiced the Gloink Queen. You think they digitally lowered her voice or if she really capable of making it that low?
