The Empirium Trilogy by Claire Legrand is a series of young adult fantasy novels that follows two young women, Rielle and Eliana, and their struggles with identity and expectations thanks to a prophecy.

I picked up the first novel a few years ago and, while I don't like the direction the series went post-Kingsbane, I still like it overall. Of the two heroines, Eliana is my favorite and her relationship with Remy is sweet. (As someone with a younger brother myself, seeing a sibling relationship that isn't wholly contentious warms my heart.) My overall favorite character is probably a tie between Ilmaire and Remy, and my least favorite character is definitely Ludivine. I don't feel that strongly about Simon, but his name irks me more than I'd like to admit.

My main question is how does everyone else feel about the ending? There were parts of it I liked (mainly, Eliana's talk with Rielle and Remy being able to interact with his idol, if only for a brief moment), but overall I was disappointed and dissatisfied.
