While many previous industries have collapsed, several new ones have sprung up in their place. You can now choose to keep your humanoid shape, change your genetics, become a cyborg or if you lack the means to become any of those, you can always pay someone with your organs to become an Undead Abomination instead.

Extended exposure to A.I has caused riots across the planet, due to people being driven insane by A.I causing mass joblessness, rapidly spreading misinformation, widespread exposure to deepfakes and increasing isolation further than COVID-19 ever did.
Due to all this, people have snapped and are causing riots, killing politicians and each other and society has ground to a halt. The only good news is that humanity survived the climate change crisis so there's that.
