What is the difference between trope pages that begin with "This is based on opinion" and YMMV tropes? Should the former category never be be added to works' YMMV pages?

If it says “this is based on opinion”, it’s a YMMV trope. If it says “don’t add this as a trope”, it’s an Audience Reaction. Both go on YMMV subpages.

YMMV has a sliding scale of what type of pages are linked on it. Some are almost main page tropes but skew too subjective to be on the main page (ie Moral Event Horizon). Others are about cataloging audience reactions and are not tropes because it isn't a narrative component (ie They Changed It, Now It Sucks!). Out of habit it is easy to call every concept a trope but some are quite sticklers on that distinction.

So when you see "Do not list on work page" that means the main objective trope page, but are generally okay on YMMV pages.

Do you not know that in the service one must always choose the lesser of two weevils!
